>Draw smut if you want to get noticed fast
Most websites auto-hide your account if you create any nsfw content. The only people that'll see it are users that tweaked their settings earlier to view everything that gets indexed. You'll reach a larger audience now just by drawing cute things first.
>"Always ask someone for critique"
Yes, although receiving critique from people can assist you, asking yourself can be twice as helpful(Assuming you've studied at least all the basic fundamentals of art first). Sometimes people can unintentionally feed you poor information that could make your craft look more inferior compared to what it originally was from the beginning. Examine and question your artwork as if it were a bad Photoshopped image whenever something looks off is an easy alternative to quickly spot the mistakes in your craft.
"Would their ___ really be that long? Where would the primary light source come from? Are the characters levitating? Would they look like this from the background's perspective?" and etc.

This is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen out of Star Wars

>Most websites auto-hide your account if you create any nsfw content.
Shit advice, mate.
Tumblr doesn't hide shit and it's currently the most popular online portfolio for porn artists. FurAffinity only hides NSFW work if you request it (which basically no one does since 90% of furries are there for the porn).
Only DeviantArt is like that, but if you're using DeviantArt you've already failed.
You need to have a much higher skill level to be noticed with "cute artwork" than you have with porn. People are less likely to be bothered by artistic flaws if you draw stuff that gets them off, specially if it's niche.

>Tumblr doesn't hide shit
If you flag your account as a nsfw blog, it hides your posts that would've shown up in the tagged/search section unless people have their safe search thing turned off. Really, test it out. If your blog is not flagged but you create an unholy amount of nsfw content anyway, it'll be flagged by a moderator if someone reports your blog, thus hiding your work from a larger audience.
>You need to have a much higher skill level to be noticed with "cute artwork" than you have with porn.
Not really. Most of the good artists that can draw cute things jumped on the porn bandwagon along with their grandma since 2008(or probably earlier). You hardly see new GOOD cute artwork, fandoms are hungry for anything they can get their hands on and will post them everywhere once they find it. Yes, drawing smut will get you some attention, but cute shit will bring in larger crowds, whether your skills are mediocre or not.
>People are less likely to be bothered by artistic flaws if you draw stuff that gets them off, specially if it's niche.
Yeah, that's true for obscure/niche fetishes. But for other things, your content is less likely to be reblogged/shared/reposted or whatever if it looks sloppy. You might get a rating/star/like at best, but no one is going to share eye gouging half-assed shit on their account/website. For cute artwork, you can easily get away with it if you go the cartoon route. They're basic, they consist of simple shapes, they require little to no construction, and best of all -- fandoms will eat it up and share it everywhere. Speaking from experience right now, I've got more exposure from cute art in two weeks than a whole year of fully rendered porn.
Been drawing one everyday. What yah think?
Blog?
That was drawn by this guy though

great, /ic/ is trying to force another unfunny joke
This is my Pepe sculpture. Made from civil-war era heart of pine and glow in the dark resin.
pics of it glowing?
What you guys think about PaintsChainer? It colors your lineart, you can let it color by itself or give "directions" about what kind of color you want.
paintschainer.preferred.tech

Did that in it

Thank you for fighting the good fight and reminding /ic/ what a real meme looks like.
>>2859900
Yeah, thanks for shitting up the board even more instead of improving on your own art.
I already tried the question thread with no success.
I am looking for an image of an oil painting where two women and a man at a table and a cat look at the viewer with a belittling expression. Please help an anon out and take a Sargent watercolor in return. Thanks.
>>2868761
Why style is it? Is it more realistic or more impressionistic? Approximate date?
Can you do a shitty sketch of it?
>>2869412
Not OP but I know the painting he is talking of. It's a realistic painting from late 19th century europe. Unfortunately I don't recall the name of it. It gets posted sometimes in 4chan threads or on reddit as a funny image because it's like the viewer is autistically intruding on them and they are judging you harshly for it.
what kind of pics would you use as reference that trigger the fight or flight response? i'm collecting them because i want to effectively design a kinda lovecraftian elder god where the image actually fucks with the viewers cognitive dissonance
>>2868695
I don't think you can have a fight or flight response to a picture unless you have some form of a mental handicap. At most a picture can be creepy and unsettling.
Well, you could always send someone hardcore CP with a 12 year old girl ofcourse. That would trigger a fight or flight response and possible cognitive dissonance aswell if it results in a increased blood flow towards the penis of the recipient
>>2868703
to clarify finding something creepy is a response from the sympathetic nervous system. it's a form of the fight or flight response
What gives people shivers? Insectoid things with a lot of thin legs- think those weird daddy long legs carpet centipedes. Combine with a lot of eyes or no eyes at all
What are some affordable markers to draw shit like this?
>>2867310
You can achieve that with watercolors and bristle brush tb h.
>>2867338
This.
I actually prefer watercolors to markers.
>>2867310
>affordable markers
anyways yeah try watercolors they're way cheaper than markers, and they can produce an effect similar to this
Are there any good books about utilizing negative space with monochrome mediums such as charcoal and graphite?
who would write a whole book about that
>>2868296
yes
>>2868296
What you could do is really study the drawings that utilize this technique. If you have some knowledge already in drawing figures, then you have a base understanding of highlights and shadows, and just utilize that.
I don't know a lot of older artists who used this, but I know Jim Dine does some Glyptotek drawings that utilize charcoal and an eraser to create the drawings. Look into reductive drawing as well (mainly drawing with your eraser).
Best of luck, anon!
Am I the only one that experiences a lot of Pain in my Shoulder after a long period of drawing?
Its gotten so bad that, after a like 7 hour drawing session, its hurts me so much that i can't even draw a stroke anymore..since every move with my shoulders kill me.
Hitachi wand for its intended purpose might help.
Maybe sip on some chamomile tea, or check if you're deficient in Vitamin D.
Hope it let's up, shoulder pain is the worst.
I've had mild to severe shoulder pain since sometime in 2013. Its present when I wake up, when I go to bed and all throughout the day. It's a result of sitting at the computer drawing all the time. Right now I'm close to "making it" but the thought of this is beginning to worry me, as "making it" means spending even more time drawing and therefore facilitating the degredation of my shoulder.

Do you sit hunched over when you draw?
how do i draw like sam youn?
>>2864720
Artstyle is really nice but also reminded me of >>2862730
Just learn Photoshop I guess.
>learn fundies
>try to draw like person you want to draw
>>2864720
just look at his art and try and find the proportions he uses. draw a circle to start and see where stuff lay. do it to as many of his art as you can. see what the similarities are. Use his proportions and see what you get. tweak it to your liking.
What are some things you want to draw that you either aren't good enough for yet or just simply haven't gotten around to? Not just in general (porn, sci-fi, etc), but specific images you think would be cool too!
I want to draw anachronistic historical art, like how renaissance artists back in the day drew the soldiers taunting jesus during the crucifixion in 15th century landsknecht gear instead of authentic roman armor. The reverse version as well, where you draw something more current in a style from a time before that.
Let's get that creativity flowing!
>>2863403
compositions like this but with hung dickgirls
Mechanical design.
I have always focused on illustration in the comics and concept art sense, but this thing is a whole new level.
>>2863411
Does this go beyond the stuff you'd usually need to illustrate cool robots and tanks and shit if you were a comic artist? Like, do you need all the internals as well, as if someone had to actually build the thing?
So i have 2 paintings that were given to me about 6 years ago. I am moving away and not keeping them. Anybody have a idea what they are worth? They are both 55" /31".

How are you holding there, /ic/?
Stressed. Could be better.
My art is shit and as long as it is my life is worthless, zero sum shit and I deserve to die. I am thinking of jumping off a bridge.
The usual.
>>2868238
Want to die.
Explain something to a newfag.
What are the skills that life drawing teaches and why is so important?
>>2866486
It trains you to be capable of leaving the house and being around other humans without flipping the fuck out.
>>2866486
is a meme. real pros don't give a shit about it, but pretentious amateurs will give you a ton of bullshit, farfetched, feeble arguments about it being indispensable.
the blame is on old school farts unable to understand the new tools, and their retard wannabes.
it has its advantages like any other drawing exercise, makes thinking in 3d easier, makes construction easier, you are looking at a three dimensional object so if you dont understand the values or colors or forms youre seeing you can observe the subject from different angles or observe the environment and understand how it all comes together, a photo doesnt allow that
Many of you are citing people like Sakimichan and Ruan Jia as examples of making it
But none of them compare to this guy(and his art in the pic)

Sakimichan makes 60000 a month though.

when she feels like it. most months she's lazy and only does 1 term.

never heard of him, but apparently he owns several games. 98% of his patrons chose the $10 option that promises perks relating to his games. so that explains it. he's not where he is for his drawings shitty drawings.
