at what point do you start calling yourself an artist? what point did YOU?
my drawings are so awful I wouldn't dare wear that label
Just a few here do.
I will call myself an artist after i finished this big painting (it is my first real artwork because art is 50% aesthetic 30% Metaphysik and 20% philosopy) i started months ago together with some kind of manifesto.
>>2864694
I prefer the label "disappointment" myself
look at this empty thread, goes to show the number of people who actually draw on /ic/
Previous Thread >>2853618
i dont know who usually makes these but i dont care
there are too many "r8 my art XD" threads
post here please
Post your current drawing here and provide helpful criticism and advice to others!
This is not a thread to discuss your autism, the rest of the board is for that.
Please make sure your posted image is clear, DOWNSIZED TO AROUND 1000 PIXELS WIDE, ROTATED TO THE CORRECT ORIENTATION, and that any unused space is cropped.
If you want critique on a drawing from the previous thread, you can delete it there and repost in this one and then kill yourself.

Stop making drawthreads with Brains shitty paintings as OP
how's this set up look /ic/?
>>2859569
stop trying to make every still life a unique and special snowflake. I paint the same apples for weeks at a time. a loaf of bread is like two dollars at a grocery store. bowls, vases, pitchers, and baskets are dirt cheap at thrift stores. if you want to do still lifes you are going to have to paint the same things over and over again so make sure they're things you like.
that said, i like the fake orchids. the rabbit is okay. turn the book so the pages face you, and ditch the toys.

Could use some variation in line thickness here and there, but youve got the general idea.
I like it!
So I heard that Germany opened its universities to international students for free tuition even though you got to pay for admin fees and living expenses. Has anyone gone to Germany to study art? What are some good schools there to look into?
I want to practice my fundamentals, and really learn how to paint traditionally. I got a couple thousand bucks to get by.
>>2865489
Usually this is where you tell us you already did research and which is better
>>2865495
there's reviews but never knew anyone whose work I've seen who actually went to these schools
there's no point going if all they teach is the modern art BS like they do in the US

What manga is op pic from? Art looks good.
We all know here that we recommend Keys to drawing to beginner and intermediate artists because it is the best book to learn how to draw. However, how do we know it is good?
Pic related, in keys to drawing, they don't talk about drawing 3d shapes and having an understanding of 3d (at least in the first half of the book, I haven't finished it yet) and they just tell you to draw what you see, directly without doing shapes or a sketch first.
While drawabox.com tells you to have a sense of 3d and to draw shapes but doesn't tell you how to think like keys to drawing does. (Keys to drawing teaches you how to critic and evaluate your drawing)
So how do you know what is really good? Do you just blindly trust /ic/'s expertise and anonymous honesty, or do you just judge everything by yourself because you know you're a genius?
What is the best way to improve in the end? Is every book good? Is keys to drawing a meme everyone fell into?

Don't worry, i'm bumping your thread

> 7 hours a day for 6 years
> and this is what you produce
oh god
>No new videos
Has he completely stopped producing that stuff?
I think he only does podcasts now.
>>2857172
Haven't uploaded one of those in ages tho.
>>2857169
He made an announcement on twitter saying he's releasing a new video on the 14th so we're gonna get some more wisdom dropped on us soon
Hi! I'm not sure if this is allowed but I am looking for a commission of me and my boyfriend. If you have any questions or concerns I will be more than happy to answer them.
Please leave the following;
An example of your work
Price ranges
Contact information
Thank you for your time!
Bump, will pay in actual sheckles.
Price: priceless
Contact : don't have a blog
I don't draw human portraits
Why would you pay for art when you can spend only a year practicing so you can do what you wanted with your bf?
>>2866605
I frequent /ic/ and I do draw, but I'm looking for more stylistic art and something simple and cute.
Thanks for bumping, though. I really like that picture!
I've been drawing for 2 1/2 years now and still dislike my art. Other people seem to like it but I always find flaws or hate it in general. Is that normal?
Post work?
It's called being an artist.
>>2866454
That's good. Just don't give up and try to improve on your mistakes nigga
Post any of your own comic strips. Can be professional, unprofessional, etc.
Sorry for the horizontal image. :/
>>2865394
Apology declined.
Reply to this post or your mother will die during her sleep tonight.

Less of a comic strip and more like a comic book. It's stapled in the center so I had to hold it open to take a picture. Hope I resized it well enough.
if you actually put in a lot of time? People look at it like most people don't succeed as professional artists, but most people don't put expensive hours into honing their craft or networking.
If you think about it, putting in 8-10 hours a day and then working your ass off meeting as many art-connected people as possible, you're already in a tiny minority. You can't be considered in the same discussion as the average fucktard looking to start an art career.
Now the real million dollar question to me is, if you're that kind of entity who focuses on improving his draftsmanship and nothing else, what are your realistic chances of making it? Does it ever reach a point for you where it becomes a practical pursuit, rather than a gamble?
>>2865902
I doubt anyone here is an accurate answer, at least I don't.
I would say it only becomes a practical pursuit if someone notices you, because you can improve all you want, but if no one sees your work, then your chances are practically zero of becoming a professional.
I like your first two points though. It seems, you're one of the few who understand that we are a minority and a very small one at that and because of that, we can make it almost 100%.
>>2865902
*extensive not expensive
fuck me I'm tired
>ask for advice
>refuse to post work
>give questionable advice/crit
>refuse to post work substantiating those claims
Why are people here so adamant on not posting their work even when it's pertinent? It's no wonder this board is such a shithole when it's filled with people who would rather talk about their drawings than post them. With a lot of the good drawfags and redliners having left already, any crit is most likely coming from some idiot who just read Loomis and thinks he understands anatomy.
>>2865508
well i dont post because im a well known artist so gotta stay anonymous if i want to keep my following eskdee xdddddd
It's 4chan, 97% of people on any board are incompetent armchair shitters seeking validation online because their shut-in asses can't get it anywhere else.
>>2865508
post your work :^)
