Hey there /ic/ I've decided to get back into drawing after 5 years during which I got some STEM degrees and had no time to sleep let alone do artwork. I've decided to just jump into it again by focusing on figures and portraits first since I'm shit and rusty. Been using quickposes, or my fiance when she's willing, for references and have determined to do daily drawings of at least 100 days under the risk of shilling out $200 if I miss a day to stay incentivized. Eventually I intend to teach myself 3d modelling with the same method once I'm done with this. So I wanted to know /ic/'s opinions on my method and whether I should just start on the loomis meme instead of jumping into practice since I'm not entirely a beginner. Also what are some good sites to post stuff to get criticism, I've just recently found out about how shitty and complacent alot of online artist wannabes are and want a place where my work will be ripped to shreds, not stagnate in a self-satisfied community.
Also how many of you went to an art school, sounds like they're shit and want to know if there's anything unique since I intended to double major in fine art and astrophysics before just going to a cheaper STEM school and going for Astrophys. and math.

Study on what you think you need to work and then practice, try to not avoid the things you find hard to draw. Study them, practice until you find it's good and then move on to other thing you find hard to draw. At least that's my method.
Now to the critic sites... I'm not too sure. Sometimes you bump into good artists here, so I wouldn't give up entirely this site.
Also taking classes always help, sometimes they can teach you things you haven't even question about... And sometimes not. But I would give it a try.

27244 method for working from a reference
2min10sec - basic line, no dark lines allowed
7min35sec - details + shading if time allows
2min10sec - additional shading
4min20sec - stop looking at reference, draw yourself
4min20sec - go back to reference and correct flaws
(easy to remember b/c the sec is min x 5)

i get it, it's actually a recent thing for me.
Believe it or not, you will get bored of no time limits eventually once you plateau and keep drawing the same shit over and over and restarting constantly. time limits will eventually become a factor, its just a matter of when.
