I don't know if I just am doing it wrong, but scrubbing through video sucks dick in VLC, and MPC-HC has no problems with it.

Also,
>that shit-tier volume slider

VLC is solid. This is just /g/, where fat elitist anime faggots talk shit about everything.

VLC isn't really bad, but I will admit it's prone to bugging out on scrubbing and on Windows the "Rebuilding Font Cache..." thing is annoying.

This was the main reason that made me change

I went through one of those MPC-HC troll threads a while back, and actually followed their advice step by step to set up MPC-HC (which took an hour or two), then did a comparison screengrab of VLC and MPC-HC playing a 50 gig + RAW bluray rip.

The quality was exactly the fucking same.
>>

Gentlemen, I like VLC.

Gentlemen, I love VLC!

I like AVI, I like RMVB, I like 120fps, I like interlacing,

I like rainbowing, I like the dot crawl, I like blocking.

I like the ringing, and I like tinny audio.

On a computer, a DVD player, a PS3, on a Mac, on an Archos. I truly love each and every kind of artifact man can encode to a file.

I like the broken ASS support when even the simplest of lines fails to render correctly. When the translator's notes overlaps the main dialogue, it makes my heart dance!

I like when an encode displays like it is corrupted!
It always left a warm feeling in my chest when they would check the CRC, only to find it is correct.
>>
>>55791569
I like it when #darkhold encoders post on AnimeSuki and RAGE about the topic at hand. I recall how much it moved me, seeing how epic longposts were made, how they would shun the subject again and again, even though it wouldn't die. And it's painfully exciting when a leecher posts about how great it is in the same thread. And how wonderful it is to have 120fps for a show that is a constant 23.976!

And that pitiful resistance, encoding to h264, despite it being harder on the CPU. I even remember when XviD had a 10:1 leecher ratio!

I like it when the MKV fanboys are thrown into chaos. And when the VFR feature they are supposed to be promoting is violated repeatedly... oh how very sad it is.

I like it when the detail and sharpness in HD encodes are crushed and obliterated! And them being filtered, smearing and ghosting and looking worse than a standard DVD.
Gentlemen, what I want is a low bitrate hell.

Gentlemen, my compatriots, leechers, you who abuse my XDCC bots... gentlemen, what do you desire? Do you also want eyecancer? Is a return to the age of VCDs what you want? Do you yearn for a VHS encode that stretches the very limits of poor quality, the artifacts so intense that it makes Stevie Wonder cringe?

Very well then, we shall have VLC.

VLC works well as a backup, but:
>Rebuilding Font Cache
>Washed out colors on Nvidia without changing settings
>Poor UI out of box
>No thumbnail preview
>Can't just click screen to pause / play
It can be fixed up to be tolerable, but I prefer MPC-BE as my main player, and keep VLC Portable on-hand as backup.
MPV is nice, but is lacking too many features for me.
Love MPC-BE's UI, seekbar preview (which MPC-HC is missing), skin doesn't look Win 98 retro, and can increase the minimum texture resolution, and its font rendering is almost indistinguishable from MPV to me.
Was also annoying to me that MPV didn't remember last window size / position.
Also being able to change between these UI's just by pressing 1, 2 or 3 is nice.
>>
I use KCP on my PC, but VLC on my phone. If the Android player says anything about the quality of the desktop application, then VLC has fixed a lot of its old issues. I'd recommend it to tech illiterates and people that don't like to play with settings for best possible quality.

DXVA copyback(the method used by VLC on Wangblows) is anything but efficient. Basically the bitstream is sent to the GPU video engine for decoding, and tyose decoded frames are copied back to the main memory... just to be sent back to the GPU for presentation!!!

YADIF is complete shit when compared to the motion-compensated deinterlacing algorithms included in modern GPUs(they have an dedicated ASIC for that purpose). VLC can't use them. And if you wonder why would I need that, it's because sometimes I watch live TV or DVDs on my computer.

It's not a matter of discussion. madVR - JINC, or NNEDI3 if you have a PC good enough for that, is simply better. If you think it only matters when you're watching anime, then, man, you already dun goofed beyond recognition.

VLC and MPC-HC (with default renderer) on a 1080p .mkv movie.

Then I changed the renderer of MPC-HC to madVR.
Both looked exactly the same.

I guess VLC is not bad after all.

Actually, I did.
I don't know if I did something wrong tho. I just opened the file, paused at the same time and posted my conclusions here.

I just tried again and took snapshots to post here.
I used the Go To to stop at the exact same time, took screenshots (MPC-HC saves it as JPEG, VLC as PNG, and the height of the VLC snapshot is a little bigger, don't know why).

I cut the same image of the frame and put them together.
Yes, MPC-HC+madVR and VLC is not exactly the same as I said before. But still, the difference is really small.
And the MPC-HC default renderer really does have a yellow tint.

Run away? What?
I'm not shilling for any players here, I'm trying to choose what would be the best for me.

I only posted the porn comparison to emphasize the yellow tint that occurs on the default renderer of MPC-HC.

As I already posted before, I got madVR too.
And even though there is a difference, for 1080p files, VLC and MPC-HC+madVR are almost the same.

We already knew you were blind from what you consider an acceptable copy of Spirited Away. You don't need to keep repeating it.

You'd run away from the difference between MP3 and FLAC if you heard it on a good hardware.

I posted 2 comparison links, and the difference there is huge. I could just keep bringing them up. NNEDI3 is the future, and most still use JINC. If you've got a GPU below GTX680, then you can't even utilize JINC and Smooth Motion properly.

The different is most visible in anime.
