Goodbye, Windows

Some people just want to get shit done, anon.
>>57874660
>ubuntu gnome
>getting shit done
OP will probably enjoy fixing all the shitty implementations and installing backports and be rendered useless after a messy upgrade.
If he wanted to get shit done, he would've probably gone to Ubuntu, Ubuntu Mate, or Mint.
itt reasons you havnt gone 100% linux
Microsoft Word, because LibreOffice's compatibly with it is fucked.
>>57874619
>140x37
Another reason you haven't switched yet
windows 7 is flawless.
Prove me wrong, /g/.
A DE does not determine your knowledge of technology.
I use Openbox though.
If you use GNU/Linux at all, you are almost surely somewhat technologically literate because you probably would have needed to install your own OS.
>>57874418
This bait.
Ive been lurking /g/ for a couple months now and decided to give Linux a shot. It seems like its a more suitable OS for me after reading all these posts.
What should I know/expect before I replace my Windows OS with Linux?
botnet
install TempleOS

http://newsroom.fb.com/news/2016/12/partnering-to-help-curb-spread-of-online-terrorist-content/
Facebook, Microsoft, Twitter, Youtube are going to start hashing files deemed to be "terrorist content", those files will then be shared with the other services allowing automatic removal of content the service providers deem "bad". Major sites of the internet have now announced that they will be actively and automatically disappearing content .
Flag something as "terrorist recruiting" content and it disappears forever from those sites. I'm sure this is not going to be abused at all and will not open the door for something even worse
RIAA/MPAA is going to love this.
>change one pixel
>different hash
lol
>>57874806
They use some sort of fuzzy hashes for cp so that small changes still match
How good is it? Switching from my current one because our contract is up and I'm not a big baller. Don't care about piracy policies or any of that.
And general internet provider thread, what are the best IP's you've been with/know about?
If your only other choice is Commuistcast or AT&TJews then you should go with FiOS
>>57874112
We had Cox and they were ok, although over the years they sent me some piracy notices but I wasn't too worried, I already have everything I need. Plus my current package is like 50MBPS, while Verizon offering 150 for like half the price I'm paying now. But in my area we only have Xfinity left, and they don't seem any better.
>>57874071
Verizon is fairly shady, but fios is definitely the best national ISP that isn't pie-in-the-sky faux fantasy shit like google fiber or any of that municipal shit.
How come ARM CPUs are still used in 2016,when lower power x86 CPUs are available?
>>57873837
because x86 a meme in mobiles
>>57873837
because intel is a shitty company to work with
>>57873873
this
Give me sugestions for a new one.
High performnce , nonMac, 15,6`,not super expencive.
is Dell XPS 15 the way to go.
My laptop burned
>>57873620
The new Razor blade is quite good. Just get a dbrand skin or something to cover up the disgusting Razer logo and it's looks pretty neat.
>>57873649
this although it is pretty expensive.
Dell XPS 15 is supposed to be fine but supposedly the keyboard blows which is pretty critical for a laptop
>>57873649
No, Dell or gtfo.
What do you think?
-awesomewm
-dwm
-i3
and why?
>>57872274
>why?
Hm, indeed.
Why any of them, honestly?
I just use gnome. It's the real modern desktop for serious users.
Kwin-tiling
Fight me
>>57872304
define "serious"
The 480 is now overall faster than the 1060, especially in DX12/Vulkan
Did anyone make the mistake of buying a 1060? God forbid buying a G-sync display for $100 more than a free-sync display of the same specs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEw3CaNSbUo
>>57872268
>especially in DX12/Vulkan
There isn't a single video about the 480 without this exact phrase. It's the Hail Mary of Pajeets.
>>57872290
But it's true though
>>57872333
>medium settings, no AA
>48 FPS
Better than the 1060 but still shit performance.
Has anyone bought pic related?
Are books in this bundle worth it?
Has anyone buy it? Your thoughts on it?
Would anyone be willing to share? I feel terrible for asking since HB is charity. I often buy video gaymes from them but right now I don't have a form of payment.
Bump.
Anyone?
Yup, solid books.
>>57871880
yeah i got the bunduru, reading the tcp ip book like a novel
Do you love him or hate him? Why?
I don't care.
>>57871813
He was good for Apple, but I don't think he was anything special.
>>57871813
I hate him because he could have made MacOS open to use in non-apple hardware. This proves he was too lazy and scared to get out of the walled garden toddler toy hardware
Is 1440p worth it?
>>57871693
yes
>>57871693
maybe
Tech gore thread, starting with OC

>baaw my ram doesn't work
