Lets bust a myth /g/
Is iPhone better for socializing than Android?
Do people actually consider your phone as part of social status?
I know I miss out on my friends group convos because of no iMessage. And I see those "green text bubble" tweets now and then.
Everyone I know uses WhatsApp so can't say it makes any difference
Everyone in my area uses imsg, but there all idiots anyway so shrug
>>57877793
Yep, if you get an iPhone you'll find it much easier to get cucked. That's what you wanted right?
hey /g/ i recently got LG 34UM58-P monitor and now im in dillema should i get 1060 or 1070 what do you prefer guys ?
>>57877775
A 1060 should do just fine for 2560x1080, I use a 1070 with my 25UM57-P and shit runs at 100+ FPS most times.
>>57877775
you should install gentoo
then read the sticky
then realize there are about ten of these stupid fucking threads asking (Advertising) your shitty fucking product already.
(skip to this step) stop shitposting and kys
I would prefer a higher pixel density, but that's just me.
Is full-disk encryption worth doing if you have a bunch of proprietary software installed?
>>57877704
yes
>Is full-disk encryption worth doing if you have a bunch of proprietary software installed?
lets simplify
>Is full-disk encryption worth doing?
yes, considering how easy it is
>>57877704
depends, do you care about loading times?
there are people on this board that believe Duke Nukem 3D and other paid software literally rapes people. Why are FOSS Stallman drones so unfathomably stupid?
>>57877690
why are you mad about it?
if you want to be on the botnet that's ok anon, we just think you're a dumb cuck with no control over your computer :^)
I know I rape people in duke 3d.
I CAME HERE TO CHEW ASS AND TALK TO YOU ABOUT THE GPL AND I AM ALL OUT OF ASS
What does /g/ think is the best GPU vendor, and why? Taking into account quality control, customer service, etc. Buying a new GPU soon, I'd like to support the vendor that most deserves/needs it. Any input is appreciated, thanks.

So, I'm planning on setting up this (http://www.instructables.com/id/Raspberry-Pi-Firewall-and-Intrusion-Detection-Syst/) and I have a question concerning VPNs. Do I connect the proxy from a machine (a laptop for instance) behind the firewall or from the Raspberry Pi running the firewall as to filter all outgoing and incoming traffic through the Raspberry Pi?
don't use Pi for security stuff, it has a backdoor on it. (hint: it's made in the uk and approved by gchq)
>>57877483
That's a fucking shame, Snooper's Charter was the reason I was thinking about actually ramping up my security and anonymity for once.
Any recommendations for an alternative?
it's a 10/100 nic on USB2, so realistically about 30mbps top. And that's assuming it'll be able to wirespeed that.
Bad idea man.
>Instructor is old and is shit with computers
>resolution on projector is fucked up
>HEY CAN ANYONE COME UP HERE AND FIX THIS?
>Assistant Instructor, "Yeah we need a COMPUTER HACKER up here"
>avoid eye contact but friend points at me
>fix in 30 seconds
>WOAH ANON I'M GOING TO REPORT YOU TO THE NSA

Is embedded software development the vaporwave of tech professions? If no, then what is?
As I decide my focus in uni, I too would like to know. Where do I make the big bucks while still being A E S T H E T I C
>>57877261
>>57879316
Use Clojure, a Lisp dialect in JVM framework.
embedded isn't vaporwave at all
try Delphi or VB6
I just bought an EVGA GTX 980 K|NGP|N For $259.00 on amazon just now. Brand new, everything included. Original price was $600.00. Did I cuck myself?
>>57877255
cool story bro.
>>57877255
yes the 1060 is faster and has more vram
>>57877255
no. its a great card for 1080p. slightly faster than a 1060 though the 1060 does have an extra 2gb of jew ram. so the 1060 would fare better at 1440p.
I've got subnetting down fairly well. The only thing I really have trouble with is efficiently assigning them without being too wasteful.
For example:
If I've got to subnet an IP down into 2 subnetworks with 6 hosts, and 1 subnetwork with 10 hosts, I usually have trouble and answer the problem wrong.
What is a good way to practice this?
> Not using IPV6 and not giving a fuck how many you waste because they're practically infinite
>>57877246
>he IPv6 will be mainstream anytime soon
Cisco subnetting curriculum is like 85% IPv4 and 15% IPv6. I don't even think I know how to subnet IPv6.
>>57877224
That graphic irks me, Class C addresses are only submittable at the 4th octet, changing the third is changing to another network
