I have read some of the $15+ books and they are excellent. Others are meh.

internet has replaced them now. google will link you to tutorials quicker even if you don't know what you want. so you only have to read the tutorials you need. we also have sites that not only show you code snippets but let you execute and change them without having to have your own server.

Most of the books are fucking ancient and worthless.

Unix power tools is good

DNS and BIND is the best book on the subject out there. Everything else is too old to take a look at.
