Hey /g/, FIS here!
We have a few questions for you regarding disk encryption:
1) Do you use encryption?
2) Do you use FDE or just a secure container?
3) What method of encryption do you use?
4) Do you trust BitLocker to some extent?
5) If goverment officials asked you to access encrypted files would you allow it?
6) If you don't mind answering this one: what do you use encryption for?
>>58283164
1) of course not
2) what the heck does that even mean
3) I DON'T USE IT OKAY!!!
4) bitlocker more like botnet
5) of course i have nothing to hide and the government keeps us safe
6) I. DON'T. USE. IT!!!!!
> :^)
>>58283164
1) What is encryption?
2)What are those ?
3)Again , what is encryption ?
4)Bitwhat?
5)Of course , but my map to the buried bodies is off limits
6)I think I know what you mean now , I download it from the same place I download RAM.
>>58283164

3. BitLocker and BitLocker to Go
4. jamal won't be able to access any of my files if that's what you're asking
5. naturally, I'm an upstanding citizen
6. to protect my IP
I need some /g/ approved monitor recommendations, I heard you guys were the best to ask.
Recently bought this piece of shit in pic related from acer, it came with an uneven backlight so now I know never to buy from them again.
All I fucking need is a 24" 1080p monitor with 144hz capabilities, I didn't think it'd be this hard but damn, these are way more uncommon than I imagined.

Has freesync too if you have an AMD card.
>>58283099
hey does any of you remember this cheap ass asian company who (used to?) produce(d) monitors?
they were hot shit on /g/ a few years back because they were apparently very good for the price but it was a gamble because they often had bad pixels
i think their name was something including a cat
>>58284847
catleap?
catleap is just one of the many korean companies that made monitors with rejected panels.
I have one that was made by crossover, shit works 6 years in but I had to replace the power brick 2 years back.
Old thread: >>58275717
What are you working on /g/?
>>58283032
First for D
java and C++ are literally the best languages top kek at using irrelevant memelangs like D and rust
>>58283057
Java is hot garbage
Can anti-static wrist straps effectively be used on things other than wrists? For example I have a piece of audio equipment with a metal chassis and when I touch it, there's a static shock and I can hear it through my speakers and headphones. If I were to wrap an anti-static wrist strap around the metal chassis and of course ground it to another piece of metal, would that solve the problem?
>>58283025
Probably.
>>58283025
Linus Twerk Tips puts his on his ankle so it doesn't get in the way/on camera.
Since you can generate static from your feet, and then shock yourself on a doorknob, it goes to reason that you entire body builds up a static charge evenly, and can also release it from anywhere.
>>58283064
Wait, I'm retarded, you mean ground the chassis to another metal case object? It's already supposed to be grounded through the power. If you get noise through your audio system it's probably something else.
Since the threads about bitcoin, with the latest surge have become unbearable retarded, I had to come here in hope of find at least semi-intelligent people. Maybe you can enlighten me on this whole thing.
I tried Bitcoin and it was not of my liking. I like the anonymousish part, but the time and cost of transaction was insane. So, I am wondering how that work and if there are some cryptocoins that handle that better while still giving as good anonymity?
And what will happen in the future when the payoff for miners goes down? Will the cost of transaction have to increase to compensate them?

Not 100% sure if this is the right board to ask, if not I apologize in advance, but how would one go about creating a VU equalizer with LED strips, except instead of the straight lines, you rearrange it so it works into pixel art?
Currently renovating a few rooms and I'm planning on redoing one of them into a (((gayming))) room, and this idea sprung into mind.
/g/ seems to only really care about what software/hardware is least shit, and a lot of memes. Someone may know on this board, but I have no idea. Try /diy/ or /wsr/ maybe. Sorry, and good luck.
>(((gayming)))
Stay away from /pol/ newfriend.
>>58282644
>you rearrange it so it works into pixel art
what do you mean?
you can make vu meter from leds using microcontroller
>>58282644
Unless you are a magician , you can't do it. That or you will get a serious headache manually soldering cables.
assuming youre not an idiot and manage to

That's nice, retard.
Thanks! I'm going to draw a conclusion. Due to the sour nature of your comment, I'm going to assume you're one of the scammers involved with that number. So, thanks "retard".

/g/ I need some assistance with pic related.
I have around US$600 in my power (slightly irrelevant, I don't live in the US and price rates here are a bit higher) and I need to pick a new computer. I'm a software developer, but I would also love it if the computer was able to run heavy games, most namely Cities: Skylines.
This game is way too heavy for most laptops, and no laptop will run it for $600. Moreover gaming laptops are expensive, and I'm better off buying a desktop. Here's the catch: I need the mobility because I will end up in a situation where I will be moving a lot. So, I either buy a not-so-decent laptop or a very decent desktop.
I was thinking, why not both? I could buy a development laptop and install Linux in it, and way later a gaming desktop with Windows once I have the cash to buy it. But then I could just save the money that would buy me a gaming desktop and just buy a gaming laptop, which will end up not being as good as a gaming desktop for that amount.
What am I supposed to do here?
>>58282212
Form factor mini itx setup that you can take with you places
>>58282531
Okay color me ignorant. I did a quick research and this is a super small computer that can also fit a budget, am I right?
>>58282599
Yea, mini itx motherboards for example are usually cheaper. Let me mash something up for you in pcpartpicker
