I need some /g/ approved monitor recommendations, I heard you guys were the best to ask.
Recently bought this piece of shit in pic related from acer, it came with an uneven backlight so now I know never to buy from them again.
All I fucking need is a 24" 1080p monitor with 144hz capabilities, I didn't think it'd be this hard but damn, these are way more uncommon than I imagined.

Can anti-static wrist straps effectively be used on things other than wrists? For example I have a piece of audio equipment with a metal chassis and when I touch it, there's a static shock and I can hear it through my speakers and headphones. If I were to wrap an anti-static wrist strap around the metal chassis and of course ground it to another piece of metal, would that solve the problem?

Since the threads about bitcoin, with the latest surge have become unbearable retarded, I had to come here in hope of find at least semi-intelligent people. Maybe you can enlighten me on this whole thing.
I tried Bitcoin and it was not of my liking. I like the anonymousish part, but the time and cost of transaction was insane. So, I am wondering how that work and if there are some cryptocoins that handle that better while still giving as good anonymity?
And what will happen in the future when the payoff for miners goes down? Will the cost of transaction have to increase to compensate them?

Not 100% sure if this is the right board to ask, if not I apologize in advance, but how would one go about creating a VU equalizer with LED strips, except instead of the straight lines, you rearrange it so it works into pixel art?
Currently renovating a few rooms and I'm planning on redoing one of them into a (((gayming))) room, and this idea sprung into mind.

/g/ I need some assistance with pic related.
I have around US$600 in my power (slightly irrelevant, I don't live in the US and price rates here are a bit higher) and I need to pick a new computer. I'm a software developer, but I would also love it if the computer was able to run heavy games, most namely Cities: Skylines.
This game is way too heavy for most laptops, and no laptop will run it for $600. Moreover gaming laptops are expensive, and I'm better off buying a desktop. Here's the catch: I need the mobility because I will end up in a situation where I will be moving a lot. So, I either buy a not-so-decent laptop or a very decent desktop.
I was thinking, why not both? I could buy a development laptop and install Linux in it, and way later a gaming desktop with Windows once I have the cash to buy it. But then I could just save the money that would buy me a gaming desktop and just buy a gaming laptop, which will end up not being as good as a gaming desktop for that amount.
What am I supposed to do here?
