Hello Ubuntu users of /g/,

How do you feel about Ubuntu not being free?

This, barring emphasis with tilde (~) and what's enclosed in curly brackets ({}), is the verbatum IP Policy for Ubuntu:
"Any redistribution of modified versions of Ubuntu must be approved, certified or provided by Canonical if you are going to associate it with the Trademarks{Ie. any mention of Ubuntu, see *1}. Otherwise you must remove and replace the Trademarks and ~will need to recompile the source code to create your own binaries~. This does not affect your rights under any open source licence applicable to any of the components of Ubuntu. If you need us to approve, certify or provide modified versions for redistribution you will require a licence agreement from Canonical, for which ~you may be required to pay~. For further information, please contact us (as set out below)."

*1: this includes all instances of the word ubuntu, including in every version number of software included, which needs to have ubuntu stripped completely from the entire source.

Moreover, Canonical has repeatedly been asked to clarify whether the use of the trademarks would be infringing, and have refused to answer - despite the fact that they could have easily done so. This would imply that they're not going to let people use their binaries, unless they pay for it.

Why does this matter? Because every single instance of Ubuntu that you see run in a cloud solution anywhere, and there's a lot of them, because Ubuntu has become very popular, is a binary version that has been modified to make first setup and configuration possible to be done automatically with only user-supplied information after the virtualization software has spun up a thin-provisioned space for it.

So, it's only a matter of time before Ubuntu is no longer free. How does this make you feel?

So if they're all the same, they'll all stop being free in the end.

Never had an issue with nVidia

My only experience with AMD was when my stepbrother wanted me to install drivers for his APU's integrated video, and I couldn't find any for Win8 because it was discontinued a year earlier (and his PC was only a year old at that time), that's when I realized the nodrivers thing is more than a meme.

I did have an ATI Rage 128 card years ago though which was pretty balla

Why would you buy your family member a 'smart TV' in the current year? He's also a software developer for pete's sake. He should've known better.

But you're linking to an article about ransomware which is not related to botnet functionality.

Can anyone really learn programming?

I think it's a meme. I tried for 10 years but cant get further than editing some scripts in some games.

some langs are harder than others. I could never get into C++, and object oriented stuff took me a long time to wrap my head around (and I still don't understand some of it).
>>
>>58287797

Yes almost but it will take time, some will learn it faster while other learn it slower.

When I was younger I was very intimidated by the complex of coding.

But today I'm currently learning and I slowly understand the concept of programming. Currently learning Java and some Javascript and Python.

In the future I want to learn C#, C and C++, and maybe Assemly or Machine Code.

Compared to previous xperias, the bezels seem to be shrinked. Sony always had that top and bottom bezel but this time they are joining the war for the less bezels. also the rectangular design looks more edgy than the XZ which has round sides.

of course this is just a picture and there is no info on the hardware. It will probably have some mid-range stuff and as a goddamn sony tradition, less RAM than the competition, maybe less battery too. One might claim who would need that much fucking ram on a phone, but it has become a reason of purchase for some people.
