you posted this yesterday

So, Every day until you cry, faggot.

Don't forget how most devices have to play back VP8/VP9 with software rendering because they lack hardware acceleration, turning said devices into battery-gulping toasters
Force Youtube and Hangouts into H.264 mode (you can get extensions for both Chrome and FF for this, or just use Safari) and be amazed at how much less CPU is used and how greatly battery life is improved
>>58282778
Even h264 does a better job anyhow...
>>58282804
This.
I forgot to mention this.
>20 seconds to encode h265
Sure, if you're encoding a "clip" that's 1 second long, that sounds about right.
>>58283256
its 3 seconds long, and the comparison stands (because encoding is highly linear), vp8 takes 300% longer
the real deal is about vp9 no vp8 you fucking newfag OP, now try vp9, 4chin is so shit that don't support it

>x264

Because open standards are better for the internet then proprietary ones
>>58283474
I did try vp9, but couldn't upload here, so I decided to rant about vp8
vp9 was still shit against h265
took longer to encode, but file size was about 3/4 (still bigger than h265)
>>58283537
how honestly gives a fuck?
only BigCo pays royalties anyhow...
Do you really think hiroshimoot would pay an American jew to use a codec?
Nope...
>>58282778
WebM is a container, you morons, and YouTube supports it just fucking fine thank you very fucking much.
>>58283662
I give a fuck. And honestly, I think its weird that you don't.
Imagine a free set of standardized formats that are extendable and hackable for your needs. That's what we have to move to, and webm is just the start.
>>58283741
As stated, WebM is a container, it has no licensing issues so that's a moot point, period.
As for the audio and video codecs, there are available ones that have no licensing issues and offer excellent performance in terms of audible and visual quality.
This whole thing is an exercise in you fuckers just being whiny little bitches more so than anything else.
Get the fuck over it, junior.
