My dad got me big into computers when I was like 4, but around the time I turned 18 he told me how much he hated computers now and regretted getting me involved with them.
Pretty sure he was just disappointed in how I turned out :)
Hi Anon, I've been having problems installing Windows onto a PC which kept crashing. It's a pirated Win 10 pro version x64 version. I'm installing using a USB drive and there is an ISO file and I'm using Rufus software to transfer it to my USB. Possible solutions?

Guys, I want to get an ereader for my father, he´s currently working on the merchant marine and he´s embarked for 3 months, so he reads in the freetime.
What should I look after when buying one?
Any recommendations?
Embarrassing self-bump
I've been using Kindle Paperwhite and it's pretty gud. Amazon's "Send to Kindle" is a convenient feature since I buy most of my books from there. The device's own UI isn't bad either. I haven't used other e-readers but right now I'm not missing anything so I probably use this one until it breaks. I read around 20 books from it last year.
get a kindle paperwhite+original case,
i'm on my third ebook reader and kindle is king so far, the new paperwhite is really nice especially with the not-so-new but new for me lighting. the leather case is top notch, feels like a billion dollars.
then download best of 2016, nyt bestsellers etc and load it for him. he has no wifi there so no ads when not signed in (i am not), therefore no ads in the 20$ cheaper version with adds :)
Any good headset stands? Pic related is what I have atm. It works for me but I'm afraid of breaking my shit headset.

>REEE I don't like systemd
Has it occurred to you that you are suffering from the Linux autism version of baby duck syndrome and that your complaints are therefore invalid, just like all others suffering from imprinting?
>>58284389
init should be statically linked; it can't rely on any system resources besides its own binary being available.
On a recent Debian build:
ldd /lib/systemd/systemd | wc -l
26
26 shared libraries, none of which have any basic hygiene in memory management.
Now on FreeBSD:
ldd /sbin/init
ldd: /sbin/init: not a dynamic ELF executable
Statically linked, with all needed memory allocated on startup; no dependancies on anything.
That's part of why I switched to FreeBSD.
>>58284421
this. or at very least use linux without systemd.
>>58284421

Alright gentlemen, reccommend me a small/medium sized mouse with the sensor 3366.
List pros and cons if you have anything to share.
Im looking towards Logitech G Pro right now. Really dislike the leds but the shape is pretty sexy.
>>58284215
Logitech G303 is the other 3366 option they offer; may be cheaper depending on retailer
I cant give a definite suggestion because I'm shopping for a replacement mouse too
Logitech is the only manufacturer with the 3366, you fucking retard.
I'm not going to tell you the offbrand version of the avago 3366, either.
Do your own fucking research.

Why don't they just Make C/GPUs out of silver?
We're never going to get over this performance plateau without it
>>58284031
Because silver isn't a semi-conductor
Silver will probably have more issues right now than whatever they use now. Silver is incredibly easy to ionize and polarize, and as far as I know, the 'plateau' is due to quantumn mechanics interfering with our classical knowledge of electrodynamics because of the tiny scales of the components we're making and using. Silver, then, would probably have even more interference, and likely work worse, even though it's a better conductor, which is the only thing that I can think of that would make you think that it would be better for processing units.
This is one of the reasons why silver atoms were used in the Stern-Gerlach experiment, which if you don't know, is quite intereseting and well worth a look-up if you have the time.
>>58284153
Wow, I came here to shitpost about silver being expensive as fuck, but I actually learned something today.
