So i got a few questions.
What is the language to go if i want to create a MMORPG like Eternal-Lands? Ofcourse i will have this project for years, i want this to be my teacher project.
Self goals on this project would be learning about programming language(s) and server management.

>1st project
>MMORPG
Start at the shallow end and just try to make a text chatroom. That should cause you enough pain to be going on with.
>>58286038
Ambitious goals, but setting the bar that high will make you frustrated and you'll probably give up after your fifteenth migraine.
>learning about programming language(s)
Java/C#/Python are good general languages. C/C++ if you want to blow your leg off with a shotgun. Start small and understand the basics first.
>and server management.
This is a separate topic by itself.
>>58286101
I want to do it and i know i will dedicate a good few years of free time in to it learning everything needed along the way.
Just want to know what would be the optimal way to go.
Languages i know are Java, Lua, Javascript and Python.

Hey folks,
tell me your experience or your oppinion about Dell XPS 13.
> me looking for new notebook
> own 13" TP, pretty much satisfied
> tfw Lenovo decided to make 13" as Yoga shits, 12.5" is too small and 14" T460 has massive bezels so it looks like 15"
> tfw in my country retailers still sell craps like "ultrabooks" with 4gigs and HD res with ridiculous price tag
Basically I was full into X series from Lenovo because I had no other option (decent book for decent price)
Then I discovered the famous XPS 13. I'm talking about the new versions.
> Kaby Lake (native support for USB 3.1, lower power consumptions, more performance, will "last" for next 3+ years)
> decent battery life (I hope there is a way how to replace battey in future like it's possible in modern phones with "non- removable" battery)
> 8 gigs is enough for me (Linux user, no games, no virtualisation)
> 1080p is the choice. I'm not down for that 3k x 2k display cause battery impact and cause why have such res on 13"
> keyboard backlight (pretty common nowadays but u would be surprised how many good books lacks of that)
> no touch screen (really dont need that)
> almost no bezels
Overall I'm pretty much into XPS 13 with FHD and Kaby Lake. The price tag is like 30% higher that I would like but I don't need to buy it today so I hope the price will fall in next months).
Tell me /g what is this book missing? First thing I've noticed is IPS but I can go with LCD wince it's antireflex and FHD (I use external 22" in 95%). I'm also worried about the battery replacement.
You can also gimme alternatives.
Thank you.
buy Macbook Pro

I've asked here like a month ago if there are some fresh (2016) experiences with MacBook runing under Linux.
All the people told me it's more pain than joy in the end (they gave real examples of what is not working and ahou you have to compile some libs and use scripts to make things working).
I hate Apple because of their politics and money-hunger. But I kinda like their hardware. If the price for have a fully working MacBook with battery optimalisations is a day of installing/setting things up I'm in. But it's not...
>>58286319
Unironically suggesting to buy a fagbook.
People like you should be prosecuted for attempted molestation.
O am I laffin
And this is only the FF users that didn't install adblock or ublock

>More people would rather use Internet Exploder than Firefox.
>>58286021
Keep in mind most IE users are idiots that just use whatever came with their OS.
What do you /g/uys think about cloudready OS? Basically Chrome OS for old laptops. Also chrome OS general.
I think it's shit made for retards. Non-retarded people will continue to use OwnCloud/Nextcloud.
>>58286414
ur made for retards, retard

In Python,
is there some standard way of defining/treating/dealing with graphs?

Sounds cool, is there some canonical tutorial for it?
Googled around more and decided to look into "networkX".

>XPS 13 is now a 2 in 1 convertible laptop/tablet
Fucking dropped, they ruined everything good about XPS 13.
>>58285852
The precision 5000 has always been better anyway.
It's a step in the right direction but there's still too much wrong with it, and now that it's a tablet they've introduced new issues.
IS the xps 15 fucked?
Hi, /g/
I have a Moga Power Pro for Android and just yesterday it started to make a rattling sound when I moved it around. It was about half way charged so at night I put it up for charging but it was completely dead by morning. I took it apart and this little guy fell out from it. It reads:
1AM0
I can see from where it fell off from but I don't know what it is. I think I should be able to fix this if I knew what this thing was.
Posting guts to bump
You got dun chinked.
>>58285849
My best guess would be a MMBT3904 (NPN transistor).
I'd try to solder it back on. If it just fell out it's because of a manufacturing problem and not because the component failed.
>2017
>still letting nvidia abuse you
>still bending over to get fucked by nvidia
the gtx 1080ti should have been the gtx 1070
the 1070 should have been the gtx 1060 or even the 1050ti
how does it feel to know that you are paying TWICE the money and getting HALF the gpu?
they can sell you the titan x p at $500 and still make great profit, but they are charging you x2 more money because they know you retards will buy it.
nvidia doesn't even have to earn your business, they expect it at this point because they know retards will fall for it.
>b-but amd would do the same thing if they had the chance to
yes they would, that still doesn't mean my points are not valid - stop being retarded fanboys and be anti-anticonsumerism
>>58285836

wut?
That fucking does it. I have a Samsung Syncmaster TA 750 and it claims to be a 100 hz monitor, although every site says otherwise.
The monitor has 2 hdmi ports (One says DVI and the other ARC).
I cannot seem to run anything more than 60 hz.
Some people say that HDMI cannot output 120 hz and some people say otherwise. How the fuck do I make it run to 100 hz?
>>58285699
Displayport
There is no version of HDMI that can output more than 60hz. If you want to go higher, you have to use DisplayPort, DVI, or VGA.
>>58285781
So, if I use a display port or DVI to hdmi cable will it work?
Why do people actually use private trackers?
I'm mainly just curious as to what the benefits are- is it just harder-to-get shows/movies/music/etc remain seeded for longer or something?
Personally (sample size of 1 I know) there hasn't been anything I've been unable to get access to that I've wanted to see from Public Trackers, and I download a few hundred GB of content monthly.
So what's good about private trackers, /g/? Is it just autism?
I've no idea either, I got a PTP invite over a year ago and I never had a need to use it, I'd just login because they suspend your account if you're gone for over 3 months hoping that one day it'd actually come in handy, but it never did, and I eventually stopped caring and it's suspended now.
>>58285698
>I download a few hundred GB of content monthly.
>monthly
kek
Mostly autism and muh sekrit club.
You get well seeded torrents and consistent high quality, but you also get highschool-tier popularity contests, asslicking and power tripping uberautist mods. If you don't have a very good connection at home, you also need to invest in a seedbox for muh ratio, at which point you are paying to pirate and you can probably also use usenet or something.
If your lossless BD movies and audiophile FLAC are that highly important to you, maybe it's worth the bullshit. Otherwise, fuck no.
Did Apple fuck up?
>>58285669
No, they are just supplying to demand.
Unironically choosing Apple is considered "fucking up".
>>58285669
Anything apple is fucked up.
Someone please enlighten me on this topic. Is there a significant advantage in performance between the two? Why would you sacrifice GUI, icons, etc? Is it only for people who have mastered the keyboard? Would it make a difference on a laptop? Have you tried both? What do you think? Pic unrelated
>>58285446
A desktop environment is the entire desktop as a whole:
Eg. Xubuntu's desktop environment is xfce.
Windows uses Metro
Apple uses homosexual advancements.
Ect.
A window manager just manages the windows in the de.
Xubuntu uses thunar
Windows uses file explorer
Apple uses grindr.
Get it?
>>58285516
Thunar is a file manager. Xfwm is the window manager.
i3 is the only WM worth using.
>>58285516
Am I losing all the desktop environment except the WM part of I install a WM like i3?
Hi /g/. I just got a new laptop. I only have one PC at a time and it has to be a laptop, so I play games on it too. It's an amd with a nice radeon and it goes very well for what I want it to do.
It comes with win10 preinstalled - Last night I just got introduced to Microshit and CIA's new we-boot-your-pc-when-we-want-to "feature" so enough is enough. I'm installing Linux this week and, if everything works as it should, deleting this huge spyware of an "OS".
Do you think Linux will run my games well, or will I have to keep a dualboot (probably win7)? Nothing too bleeding edge mind you. AMD card and AFAIk it's supported by the open source drivers.
All I need for work are open source programs (freelancer here) so that's not an issue. So wwyd? Thanks for the replies if any.
>inb4 Windows can be good
no it can't. Take that shit elsewhere.
>>58285354
>freelancer here
so like, whatever chores your mom and dad have for you? mowing lawns/shoveling snow around the neighborhood?
>>58285438

>playing games.
Help me /g/, what am I doing wrong here? (C)
This is literally my code and the output is literally what happens. This shouldn't be happening, I am in charge here!
>>58285346double a[2];
double b[2];
a[n] allocates an array of size n so the max index is n - 1
what you're seeing here is an issue undefined behavior
>>58285380
Yes, I am LITERALLY using (n-1), so 1 as max index. I never use a[2] or b[2] on the picture.
>>58285346
what do you think should happen? seems fine to me
