lol @ these """benchmarks""" no way does intel give you that much more performance increase year over year
how much did Intel pay Linus?

Maybe the uptick in thread count is a factor no?

CPU mark is not indicative of real world use
it looks good on paper thats it
Also these are extremely expensive processors
>>58275906
Just because it's been 12 years since AMD pimporved the processing speed of it's chips don't project.
Did I install my CPU currently? the text is upside down
>>58275901
If you were too stupid to align it like it's indicated on the fucking chip and motherboard, you deserve for it to blow up in your dumb face.
I watched a video in the black dot was on the top left
Please guys I need to know if I did this correctly
I was just about to try Bridge Linux when I saw THIS.
phew ! I think I had a lucky escape
This image totally put me off Bridge
>>58275889
What? Why?
>>58276372
It looks too black, dark and dungeonesque
>>58276426
Oh. Okay.
Is USB type-c a meme?
>>58275882
No
Haven't had any cables die on me yet when I would have had at least one failure with micro USB by now
t. Somebody who has used it for 6 months
>>58275914
wat do u do to ur micro usb cables?
>>58275914
How the hell? My micro USB cable has been used daily for two years and has yet to break.
If Vega is in 5-10% range of the Titan, then it won't be priced under $700 at all.
I think
I know AMD isn't charity but it being priced $500 would be killer, would literally hoborape the entire Nvidia overpriced lineup.
Then again if the die is small they could get away with it.
>>58275898
And NVIDIA would still outsell them because they have superior mindshare.
>>58276555
That's a different bag of worms, and to stop such lunacy it would require for /v/'s kind to grow a brain.
A most difficult undertaking.
Should i install the long-term support version (16.04) or the newest version (16.10)?

are u even trying
>>58275722
LTS if you are installing a server that is supposed to be put into production. The newest if you are using the server for personal use or if you are using it for a desktop/laptop
What are you working on, /g/?
Old thread: >>58266868
A few questions.
I have a tiny bit of programming experience, basically just a basic understanding of how it works, which I've been able to apply to C#/C++/Pascal/visual basic.
Anyway, so I kind of want to make the best game ever, probably a phone game (or a computer "phone game").
So the questions
>What language and free engine should I use to make something like pic-related
>How long would it take to make it?
I really would want to make you have a party of up to 5 people, that you control all the character, and they have to be a certain distance away from each other. Then you'd have some spells that your characters can cast.
Then I'd want to apply an "instanced MMO" setting upon it (PvP, and instanced dungeons).

Thanks, the linked list approach sounds like a great idea!
Where do you go for tech news / discussion other than /g/?
BBC World News has a Tech and a Sci column that are pretty good.

So /g/ I am fed up being a NEET and 2017 is the year I finally make that change. So how do I learn "how to code"?
I know I dont want to do web dev as I dont really like design (back end would be fine though i guess?). i am interested in making "real" desktop programs so not some javascript "app" built with electron. I am thinking something like C++, C# or Java would be great yeah?
>>58275265
first, you're going to have to install gentoo.

>I am thinking something like C++, C# or Java would be great yeah?
Sure, if you are the guy who like to spend a year working hard and then at the end of the year FINALLY be able to do something useful...
Python on the other hand will have you up and running in a week and good enough to get a job in two months.
>>58275301
>good enough to get a job in two months
This explains the average level of Python programmer's skill.
So /g/, it's 2017...
Why are you still not using the best laptop on the market?
fuck off
DONGLES, DONGLES EVERYWHERE
Also, what the fuck happened to MagSafe?
keyboard is shit
I'm concerned about the footage getting hacked off the Mac. Should I be?
I use the built in camera on the MacBook, record using Quicktime "Movie Recording". Edit it together in iMovie.
Comes together pretty nicely.
Question is about security. Maybe I've watch too much Mr Robot, but is there any way "bad guys" can get the files off my MacBook from across the internet?
That is, is it possible I could have some kind of virus or malware on my Mac that is communicating or granted access to bad guys?
Any advice is appreciated.
Your wife is an idiot.

Who cares? You'll be on the wrong side of the camera, while Tyrone is driving her skull through the headboard.
Hello.
My idiot roommate decided to reposition everything once again including my PC.
The moron took my internet cable, and connected my PC trough some secondhand pic-related wifi repeater he bought from who knows.
He played it off as all being fine and showed me by launching my computer, starting up internet / online game and of course it lagged like fucking crazy.
My question however, can these wifi repeaters damage or hurt one's computer / data?
I saw on the back of the adapter (pic related) some log in information, so I guess that way everyone can just keep track of my pc or even acess it? What about passwords I filled in?
Hopefully I'll get an answer. Thanks in advance.
>>58275042
To add; not sure if it's this exact model and he plugged an internet cable in the back of my pc, then in the underside of this adapter thing, connecting my pc over wireless network
>>58275042
go get your autism diagnosed, then set everything back the way it was, but cleaner, and with cables covered up by tape or something
Punch him in the mouth for touching your shit
I have a Galaxy S4, never had any problems Texting with it before.
Last night I tried to send some text and it would just circle and eventually fail to send but the recipient received 3-5 copies of the text.
Today it's sending fine but I can't receive any.
Any advice/solutions?

Do you happen to have AT&T? I had the exact same issue with my Nexus 6P, so I believe the issue was on AT&T's side.
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called “Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use.
Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.
