/g/, what are your thoughts on sites like Upwork or Fiverr? Decent for freelance webdev work?

Basically I'm struggling to get a job as I graduated with a BSc in chem, but only a managed a 2:2 and the market's shit anyway for chem at the moment instead of chem eng. I've taught myself webdev to the point where I think I could freelance and I want to just travel the world (southeast asia and aus to start) with my laptop and pay my way with freelance. Feasible?

What's upwork?
>>
Do you have prior experience? The people who will hire you won't want to train you. They expect you to have enough expertise to hit the ground running.
>>
ignoring https://hackernoon.com/why-you-should-never-use-upwork-ever-5c62848bdf46#.l5qrxr9od

and likely other horror stories, you won't nearly make enough to get by for the first several months. everyone i've talked to about freelancing says that they couldn't even think about going freelance full time (that is, quitting their full time/part time jobs) until 6 months in. usually more. and these people had training and expertise in their domains. they weren't making a qualitative career shift, just a switch in the style.

you should look on reddit for a community of freelancers and see what they say. this question is so cliché that i bet you could even find someone saying they want to travel around southeast asia while they freelance, just like you.

the short answer is that no, it's not feasible. you'll need to spend an order of magnitude more time optimizing your profile on upwork and advertising and promoting yourself so that people will actually hire you. and the speculative nature of freelance work will stress you out, no matter how coolly you deal with financial stress.

I am trying to overclock my i5 4690k at a frequency of 4.2ghz @ 1.14 volts and it always crashes during games. I have researched online and found that this is commonly a PSU problem concerning voltage delivery. I currently have pic related and upon further research, it is apparently terrible for overclocking/gaming. Can you recommend me a good overclocking/gaming PSU at a reasonable price?

How much do we know about Linus Torvalds' personal battle station? All I've heard is that he prefers Red Hat over Debian and likes laptops that weigh 2 pounds or less.

Put TweakingWindows on a USB, dl it at snapfiles. Run a disc check. It should repair anything wrong with the actual firmware for connecting to wifi.

hey, quick question about repos, I'm running ubuntu with apt, I know how to add repos to sources.list - what repos can I use apart from the default one? Can I just add the Kali repo or whatever to grab a couple of tools or will there be issues with compatibility?
Is there a way to search for compatible repositories?
>>
>>58289746
Use your search engine to look for 3rd party repositories for your distrubiton.

Yes there will be incompatibilities.
