You know, we talk a lot about how 10 is shit, 7 is still the best and all, but why is this specifically so overlooked/disliked?

I remember after all the big updates this thing was pretty stable. The only issue it seemed to have was that stupid start menu, which could be replaced anyways. So tell me /g/, what's so wrong with it? What made it fall into obscurity?

>>
it's nice. that's why nobody talks about it.
>>
>>58608023
That's sad.

Oh well. May someone someday find this super secret version of windows that nobody ever heard of.
>>
7 is a meme as well. Windows are incrementally updated exactly like linux, it's only Microsoft that takes the current version and sticks it a label to sell it. The Drivers of fucking Vista still work on 10 to see how close their kernels are.

10 is better than 7 if only the memesters weren't retarded and disabled the spy services.

And if the memesters think there are still spy services hidden, well, they are in 7 too.

Couldnt get my answer at /sqt/ so Im asking in separate thread. I hope you dont mind.

As a student I have legal copies of both Win 10 Education (modified Enterprise without Cortana and ads) and Server 2016.

I heard on /g/ that Server 2016 might be better than Edu even for everyday desktop.

But if I would install it on my PC, would that "bound" they key to that machine? Or I would be able to later remove it and install on another PC and activate as normal?

I remember that Win 7 installation I had from same source could activate normally on another PC after deinstallation, but I dont know if Win10/Server 2016 works the same.

Or I should just install that Edu instead and Server 2016 on desktop is not good idea?

Thanks for any reply or advice.

When you put /sqt/ in your title, you add yourself to the catalog searches for that thread. Don't do that. The thread exists to avoid unnecessary clutter. If we can't answer it there, this is not the board for you.

Server follows LTSB upgrade path, so you won't be getting 1703 but will get the next one if that worries you.

Post your component list, rate other anons', and ask questions in general.

Always state the purpose of your PC, your budget, AND YOUR COUNTRY if outside the USA.
If you are asking for improvements, clarify whether you want to lower price or to improve specs or build quality.

Assemble your parts list; built-in price comparisons by vendor and a compatibility filter.

Kaby Lake has been released! Skylake is depreciated if corresponding chips are similarly priced (e.g., i5 7600K vs i5 6600K)!
>Some motherboards will have a one-click, 5GHz on air OC button that works for 80% of i5 7600Ks
>Z series chipsets have an "Enhanced Turbo", which allows all cores to run at the highest single core boost clockspeed (works for Skylake CPUs as well)
>Pentiums now have hyperthreading, and are thus the new default budget / entry level gaming CPUs
>Pentium G4560 is the best price / perf four thread CPU on a modern platform
>All Kaby Lake CPUs work natively with 2400MHz DDR4 memory
>Do not underestimate the impact of fast (>2400, e.g, 3000MHz) RAM in conjunction with a Z series chipset, which often provides as much of a performance boost as a CPU overclock
