hey i wanna know more about libreboot.. why they left FSF and GNU?

and is the libreboot X200 good?

>why they left FSF and GNU?
Someone was severely buttflustered over something. What's new.
>libreboot X200 good?
You means those prebuilds they sell? They're expensive as heck.
>>
>>58603676
Some SJW bitch got triggered by an FSF person and threw her toys out of the pram, so she pulled libreboot.
>>
libreboot user here.

the reason that libreboot left the FSF is because libreboot is one person (despite there being many developers).
Leah Rowe (previously named Francis Rowe) was angry on behalf of a trans person who got fired by the FSF.
that person has not posted publicly anywhere what happened, but it is assumed that she was fired for legitimate reasons.

Leah seems unstable.

Now about the software.

I have a libreboot x200, and run Trisquel on it, it's great. boots fast, and can keep up with most tasks.
Don't expect a 2008 machine to be as good as a brand new one. but if you can get an X200 for <$100 it's completely worth it.
It replaced my desktop machine completely, use it for work too.

Why is this allowed?

If you want to be another consumer monopoly supporting retard then feel free to buys Intel.

Zen will soon BTFO Intel with its new CPU lineup killing overpriced Intel 8 and 10 core CPUs at price of Intel i3 CPUs. Not mentioning actual ECC implementation, quad channel, more PCIe lanes and unlocked CPU.

Just wait like half a month retard, AMD is going to destroy intel once and for all and you will regret buying their shitty overpriced CPU

How true is this? Someone once told me directories aren't real in linux. What really is going on is the full name of a file actually includes the pseudo directories it's stored under. The os just happens to sort all of it's file by the names. So when you move a file you're actually just renaming it. For all practical purposes to the users it's stored in a new directory.
11 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
No, that's completely wrong
>>
It could work like that but it would be retarded because you would lose on codification of subdirectories that could save time and resources.
>>
maybe this is what you are referring to? it's literally the first google result.

http://www.linfo.org/inode.html

>When a file is created, it is assigned both a name and an inode number, which is an integer that is unique within the filesystem. Both the file names and their corresponding inode numbers are stored as entries in the directory that appears to the user to contain the files. That is, the directory associates file names with inodes.

>Whenever a user or a program refers to a file by name, the operating system uses that name to look up the corresponding inode, which then enables the system to obtain the information it needs about the file to perform further operations. That is, a file name in a Unix-like operating system is merely an entry in a table with inode numbers, rather than being associated directly with a file (in contrast to other operating systems such as the Microsoft Windows systems). The inode numbers and their corresponding inodes are held in inode tables, which are stored in strategic locations in a filesystem, including near its beginning.

>a directory holds only the names of the files that appear to the user to be contained in it and their inode numbers

What is an oscilloscope.

I'm going full time in an RV and I want to be able to use the internet. I've got a pretty good idea about how to configure the network (I'm CompTIA A+ cert), what I'm not sure it's which gear to buy.

Currently have an Apple airport extreme (willing to replace if necessary). I'm figuring on getting a wifi bridge and a directional antenna. Connect the bridge to local wifi networks and use it as the WAN connection in the router to create a new wireless network on my RV for all my devices. This is necessary because I'm not always within range for good connections and my rig acts like a faraday enclosure.

I know some wifi bridges aren't good for streaming, and I'm thinking three may be a single box solution (stand alone router that can handle the job without a separate bridge) as well but I can't find it.

Can you help?

http://www.networkworld.com/article/3158685/open-source-tools/free-software-foundation-shakes-up-its-list-of-priority-projects.html

https://www.fsf.org/campaigns/priority-projects/

http://web.archive.org/web/20081120055857/http://www.fsf.org/campaigns/priority-projects/

>The foundation has maintained the High Priority Projects list since 2005, when it contained just four free software projects. Today’s version mostly identifies priority areas, along with a few specific projects in key areas:

>A free smartphone operating system, namely Replicant, which is a completely free software version of Android that the FSF supports financially. As the most-used computing devices in the world, smartphones need a free software presence, according to the foundation.

>An intelligent, voice-enabled personal assistant, a la Google Now, Siri, and Alexa. According to the FSF, those systems offer convenience, but come with “unacceptable tradeoffs” where privacy and control are concerned.

>Projects that encourage contributions from marginalized groups in society – free software has a rocky record where women, minorities and the LGBT community are concerned, and more inclusiveness is desired.

>Internationalization of free software, broadening its usability around the world.
In a similar vein, projects that help make free software accessible to people with disabilities are also encouraged, particularly assistive technologies.

>Any projects that help decrease what the FSF calls overly centralized web activities, and “user reliance on servers they don’t own.” Projects that help create alternatives to the walled-garden web ecosystems created by Google, Apple, Facebook and so on are a priority.

>Other priorities include hardware drivers, real-time voice and video chat, security, governmental free software, and assistance for fully free GNU/Linux distributions.

Well the FSF is officially a meme now.

It's over.
>>
>>58603001
What? These changes are perfectly reasonable.

No point writing free software for thinkpads if everyone uses a smartphone- or more accurately, if your goal is to get the most people using free software as possible, you should promote the use of free software for the most used devices.

Are /dishwashers/ a meme?

I'm about to move in a small apartment together with my gf and we have this argument with my father whether to get a dishwasher or not.

Our idea is that we as a couple who wouldn't cook every meal at home anyway, wouldn't fill up a dishwasher frequently enough so that all the stuff we put in won't get dry and crusty with food particles. I don't want to have take out the dishes dirty and having to wash them by hand because all the gunk left on by the machine. Also I don't want to become a slave to the Henkel Chemicals Jew.

My father's idea is that a dishwasher is more economic even for two people.

Help me /g/... I have never lived alone or with another person, only with my family, and we have a dishwasher which is sometimes a pain in the ass to deal with.

No, but "smart" dishwashers are
>>
Just live without it for a month and then decide if you can put up with masking dishwashing a part of the meal experience or not.

You get cheap green/hipster points.
>>
>>58602889

Fuck no, I won't let any (((smart))) """"appliances"""" into my home.

>>58602903
Good idea but I can't really try it, because currently I live at home and I wouldn't be able to simulate the workload I will have in my own home together with my gf.
