Hey /g/, sorry for being a noob, but I need help with pic related. I've tried out Ubuntu, and I really like the feel of Linux, but i'd like to move to another distro because I don't like Unity launcher. Is there any other distros that have a panel like this? Likewise, is there any like Arch where I can make the panel alternate like this? Thanks!
You can do some hacky shit with XFCE
>>58610211
Distro is (kinda) independent from your window manager. And if you don't like how your window manager looks, just change it.
As far as I know, Unity is the only one that has the panel merging and global menu, if that's what you mean. But if you're not a fan of unity, you can check out other DEs and WMs without completely wiping your system, just do an apt-get for GNOME, KDE, Cinnamon, etc.

>1440p monitors with shit quality panels are now $300 and none of them overclock
>Koreans now use awful quality panels in all of their displays on Ebay
>1440p @ 120Hz+ is now $500+
What the fuck? Am I missing something here? How did prices go up? What is the best deal now in overclockable 27" 1440p displays?

kek
You made this thread last week, stop it
>>58610119
The low end to mid quality TVs and monitors all went to shit. They all want to be king of shit mountain.
Within the next couple weeks I'll be upgrading from pic related to 50mbps fiber.
I have netflix and am very excited to be able to stream HD. What are some other fun things I can do with all the extra speed? its 50mbps upload too.

Getting FiOS?
If so, it's only $20 more to go from 50/50 to 150/150.
Main thing I do is download all my Movies and TV shows in decent bitrate 1080p
its really not as fast as you think it will be
>>58610153
Yeah, it's FiOS. I'll probably get a faster option in the future, but right now they're kicking me off my current plan, since they're decommissioning the copper network, and by bitching like an old man about forced change, they're installing everything for free, and my monthly rate will stay the same at about $42.
http://www.stroustrup.com/good_concepts.pdf
>In concepts, Stroustrup sees the solution to the interface specification problem that has long dogged C++, the language he founded more than 35 years ago. "The way we write generic code today is simply too different from the way we write other code," Stroustrup says... Currently an ISO technical specification, concepts provide well-specified interfaces to templates without runtime overhead. Concepts, Stroustrup writes, are intended to complete C++'s support for generic programming as initially envisioned. "The purpose of concepts is to fundamentally simplify and improve design. This leads to fewer bugs and clearer -- often shorter -- code"...
>Concepts, Stroustrup believes, will greatly ease engineers' ability to write efficient, reliable C++ code... The most obvious effect will be a massive improvement in the quality of error messages, but the most important long-term effect will be found in the flexibility and clarity of code, Stroustrup says. "In particular, having well-specified interfaces allows for simple, general and zero-overhead overloading of templates. That simplifies much generic code"

Stroustrup should just start over and make a new language.
He won't, since no one will use it, while compiler implementers will actually go add new C++ features.

What will these "concepts" look like? Any examples of syntax, or is this all just speculative talk?

How far away are we from creating sentient androids we can use as companions or sexbots?
Objectively we don't even know how consciousness works.
>>58609698
Of course we do. It's just a finite amount of experiences and memories combined with the ability to gather information from the input of our 5 senses and syntesise new information from all of the above so that we are able to make decisions and respond to outside stimuli in a way that benefits us and/or our society.
>>58609672
