damp.
- Bleeding edge: up to date packages and Wayland by default.
- Stable, despite the above.
- Secure: pre-configured SELinux among many other features: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Security_Features_Matrix
- Good support, backed by Red Hat.
I understand if you prefer to fine-grain everything and use Arch or Gentoo, but people who use Debian and its derivatives: just why?

I exclusevely use Fedora and SuSE on desktop machines and laptops, and CentOS *BSD on NAS/DNS/POP/IMPAP/DHCP servers
Hello there /g/, im not a recurring poster here, so forgive me if i took this thread to the wrong spot.
If not, i would like to know more about those, is there a model, that's cheap, like a personal model(not industrial, or made to produce in objects in high scale and quantity), and capable of producing medium to high quality pieces regarding some details, im thinking mostly of figurines to be made with it. What would be the price range for a printer with these especifications overall?
And how does one work with it? if i wish to make my own models and the sort, what program would be recommended? type of files, etc.
I would be happy if you guys could indicate some place with info about it,thanks in advance.

Hello /g/.
I'm learning NodeJS but I can't tell the difference betweenfunction timesTwo(num) {
return num * 2
}
andvar timeTwo = (num) => {
return num * 2
}
Does it just have something to do with javascript standards or there's a specific use for each methods? Thanks.

The bottom declaration will inherit "this" from the scope around it, while the top one's may be something entirely different. Also, functions are hoisted.
Which one you want depends on the library/framework you're dealing with. This is JS, so forget about being consistent about anything.

Skype is actually an interesting application/protocol because it is a peer to peer service that uses multicast addresses to discover clients.
>>58605952
It doesn't work like that anymore. It transitioned to Azure, after the clusterfuck that was the Windows update, that forcefully restarted the big nodes at the same time, all across the globe, leaving Skype useless for 36 hours.

Skype is for children
What is the best linux distro for someone coming from windows?

they just don't give a fuck anymore
they probably knew people would eventually find out and get mad but a few things would go out with the malware
at this point it isn't even suprising
because they can get away with it

Its telemetry for vs specifically, and you can disable it. I think there's a post on stackoverflow about it.

Well considering everyone here says to install Gentoo, I'd say it's pretty risky.

Was it just a meme all along?
kernel programming and embedded stuff, for starters
Programs that interact with hardware directly such as drivers.
Also developing for the Pebble is objective-C
Haven't done much with it, just a couple of apps.

This. Also, low level libraries like media decoders, etc. that need to work with as many language environments as possible. A C-compatible foreign function interface is a very common feature in higher level languages.
Just be sure to sanitize _all_ possible inputs or you'll be the star of a CVE entry sooner or later.

CES has come and gone. The 1080 Ti did not show and AMD is getting ready to release Vega.
Is it over for Nvidia if Volta doesn't show up this year?
>>58605584
you mean the AMD card without price or an official release date?
or do you mean the AMD card without independent benchmarks of wide variety of games?
wait it's the same one
nvm
>>58605584
Volta absolutely won't show up this year and Vega is shaping up to be very powerful. Completely redone front to back.
i thought vega was still months away? its too late, people already bought a 1070 or 1080 instead. they will have to perform fucking miracles if they want vega to sell well
Was looking around and I see that a Thinkpad T400 is pretty cheap, around $60 bucks. I think that is an excellent price for a functional laptop.
Only issue is that they come with C2D, which might not be the most efficient chip on the world. I would imagine it would run somewhat hot and deplete the battery fairly quickly.
Anyways how good would it be as a little machine that I can use to mess around with? Is it worth it or am I better off with a T420 or X220. I would probably install Linux on it if I bought one.
One plus that the C2D has is that it doesn't have the Intel Management Engine. https://boingboing.net/2016/06/15/intel-x86-processors-ship-with.html
Thanks in advance.
