I actually just updated my python.
Trying to build chromium ungoogled, which is tested on... 3.0 and 3.5, but not 3.6. I apparently don't have 3.5 installed, and when I -3, it defaults back to 3.6 and says "3.6 is not supported, exiting" etc.

So I've tried many beginner distros over the years and for instance today, I tried Ubuntu MATE on my Chinkpad in live mode.
I was just tweaking with the settings a lil bit and I changed the window effects to Compiz or something (which is the cool one with the effects and shit), and the whole thing just froze!
As always the only way to get out of it is to simply press the power button for couple secs to force the pc to shutdown, cause nothing else works. The cursor moved, but cannot click anything...
ctrl+alt+del = no response
windows key = no response
WTF do u do in these cases?

SSH to your shitbox and kill X.org or the display manager.
Might want to check /var/log/Xorg.0.log for any obvious GPU driver failure while at it.

I don't understand anybody that bought a 900 or 1000 series GPU.
Intel is understandable, because you are getting a solid CPU that will perform as expected.
But Nvidia is the opposite. You are risking no Async compute, driver degradation, and corner cutting for gaymen performance in its first year.
You 1070 isn't going to play games at a higher res than a 480, your 1080 will be eclipsed by a 1080Ti or Vega, and a 1060 is just inferior aside from power consumption.
Do you enjoy having to buy a GPU every year? People with 7970s are still getting by 5 years later.

Works better than some no-brand 15/20$ condenser mics and definitely better than webcam mics.
I only recommend it as a last choice however. If you can't find any better alternative by other people here, it's 6$.
Also, being meant for room-scale stuff it will catch ANY sound, not just your voice, so if you live in a noisy place you might want to turn it down anyway.

My hard drive was making weird noises and my computer kept freezing up, so I decided to make an image backup. After getting a few blue screens and "failed to boot" messages, I finally got it to work. But about halfway into the backup, something made this extremely loud noise, similar to a hair buzzer, so I forced a shutdown.
I am absolutely terrified to turn it back on, and I cannot afford to lose even a single file.
I thought I could try again but in safe mode, and make file backups of my most important stuff before trying another image backup. I also asked a friend about this, and he said he could lend me a thing that connects directly to the drive, but he said that usb ports might not work in safe mode.
What do I do about all this?
