Does anyone have advice on excercises that doesn't stress the lower back at all? I had a severe herniated disc a few years back and needed surgery. The surgeon basically said I shouldn't lift anything heavier than 10kg for the rest of my life, which obviously severely limits what kind of lifting I can do. Should I just accept that there are some muscle groups I won't be able to train?

You can train everything, but confined to machines and benches. No squats and have a PT with an actual degree draw for you a routine.

I'm 6'3 and though I feel I can't complain, I'm not tall enough to be considered truly tall or compete in sports were height helps, but I'm not short enough to pack on muscle well or lift heavy.

Do you have any fears after becoming fit or as a direct result of being fit?

I have this irrational fear of choking. After lifting for many years I am afraid that my core will be too solid for people to give me the heimlich maneuver.

After a year of lifting I did start getting this one thought.

That the more I lift, the greater the chance I'm just gonna get RNG killed young, and would have wasted many hours/ could have just been fat.

Memories... This was one of the first books I read about lifting when I got started years ago.. It's definitely a classic and there's some nice pictures in there too.. Remember it's primary focus is bodybuilding so the routines suggested are catered towards that... There is some bro science in there like things about making your rib cage larger but it does show a bunch of different exercises to hit all the different muscles

Personally I'd recommend Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe. It's the most thorough breakdown on how to do all the major difts properly. I think the squat alone has like 40-60 pages dedicated to it. Besides that I'd also recommend his other book Practical Program for strength training which details the specifics of designing your own program
