so, i've joined a gym, and i am starting with stronglifts 5x5. the program recomends to take a day off between the lifting days. the question is: can i pratice martial arts in the off days?

yes.

just don't go too overboard, you want to do at least good hour or so of active resting (just laying down, on the computer or watching tv or meditating or whatever).

outside of that, the more active you are the better, to a point.

just don't stress yourself out too much and elevate your cortisol levels, because that will make curb your gains
like.. don't do an hour of balls-to-the-wall martial arts training, and then an hour of intense cardio after that.

also make sure you eat enough.

you should do that on lifting days to.

too much active resting is bad for your athleticism, so don't do it all day every day, but an hour or so a day, post-workout is a good idea.

Yeah, that's what I do.
Just know that learning things like rolls (as in aikido and jiu-jitsu) might be harder because you're gaining mass and you might have to practice it a little more to get it smoother.

I usually do some stretching while I cook breakfast.

I like to have a slow morning where I can mellow out with a good cup of tea before I have to hit the grind. I usually have around 30-45 minutes of solid nothing before I have to leave.

hello
I'm 2 weeks into a gym and I ran into a bit of a problem
my gym brah who has 1 year of experience and is a medicine student insists that I don't do SS because that way I don't do enough exercises and I won't grow much
Instead, he asks me to do exercises at the machines (chest/back/biceps) and squat 3 or 4 series of each thing I'm doing that day until failure.

Should I do whatever I read on the SS wiki or follow my brah's advice?

/fit/, what do you do when you have lost all motivation?
A year and half ago I was training a minimum of 3-4 times a week, I was on /fit/ all the time and I was learning all the time.
Fast forward 6 months and I had dropped out of my sports science degree and as coaching was over I was just bumming around the house.
So for the last year it's pretty much that, just bumming around, working a few hours here or there but besides that not doing much but eating, I've gained 4 - 5kg of fat, Vidya and TV takes up most of my time and the lifting has gone down to a sporadic week on, month off bullshit because I have no drive to do it, I've tried changing programs, making my own etc but there's nothing that can keep me focused for more then a few days.
What do you do? How do you get that spark back?
Is it because I flog the log too much?
Should I sue bethesda?
Should I only watch Sly movies on netflix?

tl;dr Lost Spark, no joy, how to get back?

Does anyone know how to lose weight off like.. like a particular area of your body? Like if I wanted to lose weight from my gut wouldn't it theoretically be faster to just keep the other weight in other places?

Couldn't find any in the catalog, so, here's a new one

First:

I was lifting for almost a year, lifts were somewhat good (from what strength standards had shown me), but then I injured my ankle and my shoulder, had to stop lifting for 4 months, lost 5 kgs.

I'm starting over now, should I go a beginner's routine like SS to make a good foundation or just go to something more advanced like Mad Cow? I feel that my lifts have probably gone down a lot. Right now I'm 5'9/1,75m, 154 lbs/70 kg.

I was doing 65kg bench, 5 sets of 5, then my partner was away for a week so i went down to 55 and did 10 sets of 5, i've done this since then going up each time and today did 10 sets of 5 at 62.5kg. is that better than 65kg 5x5? has that built more strength than 65kg 5x5 would have today?

For IF i usually have 5-7 hour feeding periods depending on how my day flows (if i can go for the 5 i will). We eat later today but it will be after my feeding period is over. Can i extend my feeding period to like 10-13 hours for one day? Just eating like 50 cals every hour to keep me in digest mode all day so i don't shock my body with food 4 hours into my daily fast
