Oi lads, might just become a brickie. Go to college and do NV1 and NVQ2 in bricklaying, should take a couple months then just apply for jobs in Longdong. No experience as a brickie, except some baby tier walls but labouring experience doing this and that. R8

Is the pay good? If not then go to college for something else.
>>
>>1211854

Pay seems very decent yeah, but I'm just wondering if I can realistically walk into a job with only college qualifications and experience only labouring, but no apprenticeship.
>>

>walk into a job with only college qualifications

College must mean trade school where you live.

In america, college usually means higher education, leading to a degree like Gender Studies or Aerospace Engineering. We also have community colleges where you can learn trades like Installing Windows.

Hello all, I recently purchased a very rusty but still very sold WWII German M40 helmet. As you can see from the pictures it was painted white for winter warfare. The paint has turned into more of a sandy yellow as time as pasted. I want to find a way to remove the surface rust while still keeping the paint intact. Can anyone help me with this?

Well /diy, I fucked up. Got a DUI. Worst case scenario I will be losing my liscense for a fair bit.

Problem is, I work about 7 miles away on a highway.

There is no public transportation and it's a lightly traveled undivided 2 lane road.

In my state you are not required to have a liscense or registration, tag, insurance, anything on a bicycle designed to be human powered by pedling, with a 1 brake horsepower or under motor, or 750 watts minus if electric. 2 wheel or 3 wheel with a wheel diameter over 14 inches.

I have previously built a shitty Chinese 1,000 watt hub motor bike but I see that the mid drive motors and internal variable speed rear hubs offer a wide range of gears with more power. I am a 250 pound fat and have no business doing 50mph on a bike.

"You gotta pay to play." As they say and my money for the foreseeable future will be spent trying to get all of this handled.

So, with a heavy heart I have descided to give up my project car to build or buy an ebike to get around should my liscence be revoked or suspended.

I have been looking heavily at the 8fong BBS02 mid drive kit for about $500 and a few quality lithium packs around 10ah-15ah for another $500.
https://www.electricbike.com/bafang-bbso2-750w-mid-drive/

Still need to buy the bike and lights and a 48v-12v step down to run the lights. I am least knowledge on this area and have alloted $500 for a quality bike and tools but this may change.

Still sort of considering a good rear hub motor and fat tire bike. I am on a diet and yes I'm a fat, but a 4" bike tire would hopefully be a little less embarrassing.

Any ebike fags here? Pros and cons? Advice?

Peltier Thermoelectric Module.

Apply DC power and one side gets hot the other gets cold. You'll need a heat sink for both sides. Put the cool side in the water pump flow and perhaps a fan on the hot side. Add a thermostat to it and you are golden.

I have a few of these. They're fucking stupid, I don't want to turn off one lamp at a time. I have it set up in my attic to turn off my drop lighting.

I'm looking for ideas to make these into a code compliant box type thing, wires go into a block, switched by this, out to lights. Right now I have a plug at the end of my conduit to power the lights plugged into this, which is plugged into an outlet. Obviously I don't have a wall switch this way, I'll need to work that in too.

Anyways, does anyone have any ideas?
TLDR, need to turn a wemo switch into a sonoff style switch.

I have 10 of them. Not a single one will connect.

I'll need to do the same for this setup as well. Basically I need to put them in a big junction box to make it code, or at least appear to code.

This one will be a closet light. Obviously I'll replace the cut cord with the correct incoming wire, but I need the box, fittings and terminal block first.

Pull out the back seat, maybe cut a section to reach the truck. At the very least you should have leg room for sleeping now. May a moto, or car battery in the back
>>
>>1214729
not an optimal choice anon. Truck with camper shell or something like those old station wagons would be better.
Look into solar for charging the battery. Research camping setups and dual battery, battery isolator, inverters and stuff.
You are going to need ventilation or the inside of your car is going to become a swamp. So screens for the windows.
Your biggest problem will be the cops.
If you are that broke talk to the uni about tuition assistance and jobs like RA where you can offset real housing.
That or join the armed services. Three hots and a cot.

I've been to a lot of estate sales, and it's not uncommon for their to be a specific kind of almost mildewy smell all through the house. It's not like they're all filthy degenerates either...

My first guess might be mold?

Got some free bagels (new package, they looked okay) at a house that was being cleaned out to be sold, and eating one was like tasting what the house smelled like....it permeated even the food.

mothballs?
>>
>>1213582
yeah, that might be a contributor sometimes....my grandparents used to use mothballs a lot

I didn't see any sign of them in the most recent house
>>
>>1213579
It depends on what they own, how long they've owned it, and how long they lived in the same house.

'Old person smell' comes from dust (which includes dead skin cells) and the bacteria/fungi that eat said dust, and the bacteria that eat the dead bacteria, and so on built up over decades.

Old people from the Boomer generation in particular tend to accumulate tons of stuff that that just leave in storage for years. All that stuff is basically a giant collection screen for dust and it's fragrant assortment of bacteria and fungi.

It shouldn't be potent enough to permeate into a sealed package of food, although bread is known for picking up odors. Maybe your picking up hints of it from the outside of the bag?

Hey /diy/ im taking the motor out of this old craftsman self propelled lawn mower and i was thinking about going and putting it on a bike (you can kinda see it in the pic) i was wondering how do i go on about doing this, I've searched the youtubes and havent come across anything of much use, is it even worth doing and how hard do you believe it will be? > i was wondering how do i go on about doing this

You dont. There is a reason you wont find any info on it. Horizontal motors are cheap
>>
>>1212901
Its possible and altho its probably a hassle to put together its a fun little diy, dont have to be so negative, if i wanted negativity i would have gone on /pol/
>>
>>1212906
>dont have to be so negative
Im sorry I didnt tell you what you wanted to hear

Let me put it to you another way.
Stop being a poorfaggot and buy the proper motor for your project.
Its not a "fun little diy" its a "im trying to be a cheap fuck" move.

The motor HAS to stay upright or you will destroy it. A right angle gearing will be large heavy, have parasitic power loss, and literally more expensive than just buying a motor.

Do you think you are the first person to have this idea?
No?
Then why did everyone else scrap the idea?

Theres 4 or 5 wires coming out of the back of your ignition barrel. One is positive (power), one will turn over your starter motor and the other are your accessories (which need power to keep the car running). If you dont know which is which, strip back all the wires and touch them together one at a time until you find the one that can both turn over the engine and light up the dash. This is your power. To start car connect all wires that don't turn over your engine and twist them together (if they come off the engine will shut down) and then touch the starter motor wire to them until your car starts

>How does one reverse engineer shit? I have some binary blobs that I need to disassemble, study and reimplement

You need a working knowledge of what the blob interacts with. After that, a disassembler and if possible, an emulator.

A legal note, if you're doing this for Real Work, you're not supposed to figure out the shit and reimplement it yourself. Best practice is to "cleanroom" reverse engineer, with one team doing the reversing, writing a spec, and another team doing the implementation from the spec. Copyrights or something.

If you're just doing it for the lulz though, yeah, have fun.

Does that include tools? If so I'd buy a Leatherman since it can do just about everything. We might need to saw the pipe, for example. Or someone might bring a block of cheese for snack time and we could grate some over our tacos if we buy the deluxe Leatherman edition.
