Looking for suggestions on improving a garden fence setup. I don't plan on keeping it up through the winter, so I want it to be a bit easier to adjust/assemble/disassemble for next year.

Right now the wires are just wrapped around pvc pipes to insulate them from the ground, and secured with zip ties. I would like something that would hole a bit tighter to prevent sagging.

I was thinking about use hose clamps or pipe straps attached to/around the pipe, to hold the wires with eyelets (somehow). As well as putting a turnbuckle in each run to keep the tension up.

I thought about just screwing eyelets into the pvc, but keeping everything isolated would be a problem. I don't know if I will keep the current setup, one wire to the ground and the other to the two fence wires, or separate the two wires and use one as the ground.

do you live in a country that doesnt sell all the electric fence accoutrements in a nice row at your local big box store.

the only thing big box stores carry are the over priced plastic insulators meant to stick into wooden posts

notch the pvc and tighten the wire or get a male to male adapter, cut the pvc in three and then put the adapter on so you have bump out for the wire to rest on.

Poorfag here. Living in a country with a broken housing market. Its cheaper for me to move into a run down house with friends and renovate it myself than to rent a tiny crummy apartment. The house is not in too bad a shape, but the kitchen needs a lot of work. It's built with limestone which can become water logged super quick.

Planning to drill along the bottom in intervals and inject with a water proof sealant, wait for it to dry, then try replace the pipes for the sink just in case. If i manage till this stage I'll just hope the cement will adhere before tiling. I will probably leave the surface of the wall behind the kitchen exposed in hopes it will not let any humidity get trapper behind it.

Think this will work? First time doing this and it seems to be the best option. Though trying to find anything on limestone has been hell. Anything else I should do or reseach on?

>Planning to drill along the bottom in intervals and inject with a water proof sealant, wait for it to dry,

This achieves nothing, wtf are you trying to do here?

>replace the pipes for the sink just in case

Again, why? If it ain't broke why fix it?

>tiling

Just tile the area that will get slashed on i.e. around the sink, no need to tile the whole thing, the broken wall will give a nice contrast against the new tiles and will make the right atmosphere of the "ghetto luxury" look you want.

>limestone

Just look at the houses around and copy them, don't try to science the whole thing again

>meant to say inject a water proof membrane. Again limestone is extremely porous. It should have no problem spreading and should stop any more damage as well as help is dry. It should also help stop mold from forming.

>Because its old and the last thing I want it to have to replace everything once everything is installed and up and running. Just trying to prevent more costs down the road.

>will probably only do that but I'll still need to cover the whole wall up with cement. Because of the damage it produces a lot of dust, so would rather not have that in the kitchen. That or at the very least use mold resistant paint.

>Most people here just let their houses rot or spend a shit ton of money on hiring a company to do it for them, I would rather not be over charged for something I could in theory do myself. That and most companies just slap a piece of insulated board onto the wall to hide the damages instead of tackling the actual issue. Even if I did pay to have shit fixed for me I want a proper solution not just a band aid slapped onto it.

So I bought this digital thermostat (Model W1209) to use as controller in conjunction with a 120w 12v immersion heater for a small water heater project.

I'm having a little trouble setting it up. My experience with electronics is limited.

Power is through a 230v to 12v transformer borrowed from a tablet.

Here's how I set it up (diagram next post):

Transformer 12+ to 12V+ on chip.
Transformer 12V- to GND on chip.
Jumper from 12V+ on chip to K01 on chip.
Heater negative to GND on chip.
Heater positive to K0 on chip.

Whenever I turn the power on with the heater not connected, everything works fine.
With the heater wires connected, I hear a relay click and the display shuts off.

The thermostat relay is rated for 20A and the heater can't be more than that because it's designed to run off a cigarette lighter.

What am I doing wrong?

my guess is the power supply cant provide enough current to the device: when the relay clicks on, it drops the power supply voltage, which shuts down the device.

also, temporarily remove the jumper in case you screwed that up in some way.
>>
oh, wait a minute. you're using the same 12V supply to turn on a 120W heater? that's crazy. you need a really big big supply to do that.

Do you let your quality of work slide when literally nobody gives a fuck?
I took a side job working for a trashy piece of shit "contractor" I met at the gas station while I was on lunch from my real job. He saw I worked in construction and said he needed some help restoring a property. He was cool with my availability so I decided to go get some practice in and earn a few dollars. This guy is a southern Missouri recheck alcoholic shitlord who does everything the cheap wrong shit way.
>stuck a piece of crown molding up with 2 dabs of caulk
>painted over mold

Either way the other guy he hired on is a meth addict painter who spends 70% of the day yelling at his girlfriend on speakerphone.
The guy who hired this shitshow contractor is a senile pastor who came in and said "it's for a halfway house, whatever" when he saw a mistake.

I was raised to do good work and I don't like cutting corners but this guy is a hack and he gets shitty when I don't finish things quickly enough. Nobody seems to care.

Thinking about buying this welder (pic related) Amico Power DC-160A 160 Amp Dual Voltage IGBT Inverter DC Welding Machine1 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FKR3MM0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_kFtEzbZV1E2XP

The reviews are really good and it runs off of regular and 220 outlets. Do you guys think this will be able to successfully weld 1/4" and 1/8" mild steel? Modular devices typically lack compactness, outward aesthetics and can often be complex, driving away customers that may otherwise buy.

>s there any reason not to go modular for any type of product?

When you realize the modularity comes at a usually ridiculous cost. Case in point I bought a p320 for the "modularity" aspect as I would be able to have a full size, compact and subcompact with only one gun. Then I saw that the conversion kits were basically the price of an entire gun.

The pistol cost me like $550 but the conversion kits are going for $400 so I may as well buy another gun rendering the original purpose moot.

from what I understand its the two points up top as well as the fact that being built with a single design in mind will let it perform better, be smaller, be cheaper and honestly you are going to find the one configuration you like and stick to it. hell you might change some stuff every once in a blue moon but you probably aren't going to be changing shit out every week

Hello /diy/nosauri. Welcome.
Why is there no huge namebrand gas-to-electric conversion kit?
Surely a base as standardized as the mass produced car, can easily be built into high capacity electric vehicles, at least as long as the suspension and brakes are dimensioned properly. With the freed up volume of the engine bay, exhaust system and gasoline tank.

Would the car be too unbalanced?
The center of mass would shift backward as the engine and gas tank is removed, slightly forward as the electric motor is mounted to the transmission, and more forward from empty engine room space being used for batteries (in nice mass produced custom molded plastic mounts that fits the engine bay).

Where the fuck is the Google Ford Taurus 2005 conversion kit?

I'm no expert in this, but that sounds incredibly retarded. You want to take something that operates off a drivetrain, and is designed around it, and convert it to a direct motor drive? I could be wrong, but I think that is why there is no market.
>>
>let's just gut literally everything that makes the car good, and replace it with some motors

way to ruin a car, also electric cars still aren't green

the batteries use dangerous chemicals, and the power used to charge the car almost always comes from either coal, or oil based power plants

nuclear in some regions
>>
>>1216477
The combustion engine takes up a specific compartment and has a particular torque/RPM tuning with the gearbox, apart from this it is a source of rotation force, not some magical doohickey. Surely an electric motor would handle turning those gears at the speeds and torques required? I see no argument here.

>>1216481
Green doesn't mean "free as in air" or "no fossil energy cost". Who gave you that impression? Anyways, I would disagree that ripping out the crappy engines of old-ish cars and replacing them with more powerful electric engines is bad. You seem to think I wish to force this on anyone, while I simply stated that I don't understand why the public hasn't adopted it.

>TL;DR I expected these responses, don't be basic.

I'm making pic related, I could use some help.

1. I have a smaller flametube diameter than the calculated one, Can I compensate that by drilling larger holes?
2. Where should the holes be positioned?
3. I want to use gasoline, so do I go with pump or a pressurized container?
4.how do I make an injector that aerosolizes the fuel?

The calculator I used,

>>
>>1216361
I can answer no.3 for you and you do not want a large canister of pressurized gasoline anywhere near you or your property, and especially not anywhere near a turbojet engine in operation. Use a high-pressure fuel pump and have a smaller canister closer to the nozzle that you can pressurize to give some extra startup juice
>>
I really don't know about the hole/chamber ratio.

But
>>1216365
Has the right idea. A high pressure fuel pump connected to a "hydropneumatic" chamber can assure a steady pressurized flow. There are injectors that aereolize the fuel, they have nozzles like atomizers. It would be helpful if you could have a small presurrized air pipe going paralel to the injecror, so the fuel get's air directly. Or a pre-oxidation chamber. I understand that this is not what the jet is for, but it would help to make combustion more efficient.

Also, are you building a generator? Or do you want Thrust?

Hi.

I have a Samsung Young 2 (G130H) that i plan have permanently connected to a power supply. It's manly connected to a car so it powers on when the car is on and powers off when the car is off.

However in the long run this will not be good for the original Li-ION battery, so i am thinking in replace it for an alternative.

I only need that the phone runs at least 2 minutes after the power goes off so a capacitor should do the trick.

However i am not sure what kind capacitor should i use to replace the 3.7V Li-ion (4.81Wh): charge voltage 4.2v

Can someone help?

Thank you

>>
BTW i've mooded the phone, so now he can power on when the power is connected and turns down 1 min after the power is unconnected.

The thing here is to give the phone the ability to safely shutdown using other power source.
>>
>>1216327
The battery is always ready to supply power, retard. Turn off the phone, then turn off your car. Fucking easy.
>>
With battery everything runs perfect. However in the long run (and due to the fact that will be placed inside of a car) the weather conditions - like a hot day - can damage the battery. So a best solution should be replace it for a capacitor.

Hi, all.

So I got these metal dice as a gift. I'm pretty sure they are these ones here (though it was a gift, so I'm not positive):
https://www.amazon.com/Truewon-Playing-Numbers-Nickel-Flannel/dp/B01N9F99XY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1501043833&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=metal+dice+set+d%26d+green&psc=1

I don't care for the green color that they use for the numbers, so I was going to remove it and make them blue. But there are a few things that I wanted to know first.

First, should I worry about removing the other paint first or just paint over it? I'm pretty sure that I should remove the paint, but if any of you have just painted over the other paint and it worked, then that seems the most simple.

If I should remove the paint, how should I go about that without damaging the surface of the dice? If they are the same dice in the above link, then it says that they have a nickel finish on them. I googled removing paint from metal, but I didn't see any metal that looked the same as the dice, so I didn't want to apply any chemicals to the metal and wind up removing the outer coat.

Next, what kind of paint would be best to use? If you can't see in the picture, the numbers are engraved (perhaps there's a more specific word for what I mean, but I'm pretty sure that's it), so I shouldn't have to worry about the paint coming off when rolling the dice. I saw some paint for painting the d&d miniatures (which is something I'd like to get into making out of wood and painting myself, but that is for a later date), would that work for this?

What kind of brush should I use?
Should I cover the parts I'm not going to paint in masking tape, and if so, how do I accurately cut out the areas that I'm going to paint?

What other issues might I run into?

And lastly, did I miss any info that might help you out?

Thanks everybody.

I'm guessing what you would do is hit the whole thing with a dremel wire brush, dip the entire thing in whatever appropriate paint (enamel is first thing that comes to mind), and then hit it with a wire brush again painstakingly outside the numbers. hand work that will make them feel made with love and care.

First, try some organic solvents that won't hurt the metal finish. Paint thinner, mineral spirits, acetone, etc. and try to wipe the numbers off with a cloth. If a solvent works, dunk the dice in there and leave them overnight. The numbers should just wipe clean.

When they're all clean and dry, replace the color with some nice model paint or some other relatively thick paint you can dispense with a needle tip bottle into the numbers.
