In Starcraft, one of the team colors is teal, and most hero units in the single player campaign are that color.

Holy shit, what year was starcraft made. They might have ditched the green at the same time.

I started using them well before I ever heard of Wranglerstar. I was getting into woodworking, saw one of them at Lowes, and picked one up along with my American style push-saw.

I hardly ever use the push-saw. I find the Japanese saw much more precise and a lot less clumsy. Say what you will about me, idgaf.

>>
>>1204994

I bought one for the hell of it while I was living in Aomori and it wound up being my go-to saw for everything but rip cuts and dovetails. I just ordered a new blade for it because I made the mistake of using it to trim some carbon fiber parts.
>>
>>1204900
not folded 1,000 times, 1,000+ layers. 2x1 2 2x2 4 2x4 8 2x8 16 2x16 32 2x32 64 2x64 128 2x128 256 2x256 512 2x512 1024 10 folds, 1000 plus layers.
>>
>>1204957

I have one of the american ripoffs of these. $15. Made in China or Indonesia or Cambodia or who the hell knows. It's flexy so i use it for flush cuts. Also bigger than the usual flushcut saw which has come in handy on occasion.
>>
>>1205030
>everything but rip cuts and dovetails
why?
>>
>>1205030
I agree with >>1205108 on the point of rip cuts. I can't do rips without my Japanese saw, I always end up going off to a side when using a push saw.

But I can definitely see the appeal of a true dovetail saw.

Bought one 8 years ago. Did an even better job at cutting through a log. Dont let the hype get to you, its a simple design and people have been making handsaws for over a thousand years. The designs set in stone.

Why would you do this?

I've had one of those bahcos for 5 years, solid saw though a little much for me as all mine does is finish stringer cuts.
>>
>>1204907
>>1204900
Its actually not steal its tamahagane which is made of iron sand and forms in layers so you could have 100 sections but that would be caused by folding layers over each other and weapons were folded at maximum 10 times and that was to get any strength out of the metal.
>>
>>1204900
i, too, enjoy buying unsharpenable saws

If a samurai was well versed and skilled with his katana, he was considered a failure. Samurai were expected to be expert marksmen with the bow, while on horseback. Barring that, they were expected to fight dismounted with a yari, a bigass spear with a slightly curved blade.

If your foe got close enough for you to use your katana, you were either a complete shit or your position was being overrun by a superior force and you were going to die anyway.
>>
>>1212984
Eh, you're right about the bow focus, but while the katana came too late to be a weapon for battle its predecessor the tachi saw plenty of use as a cavalry saber for post-rout charges and (yes probably going to die, but not disrespected for it) elite guard units.
And after that you had the situation where as a "ceremonial" "sidearm" they were useless in mass battle but ideal for unobtrusive carry to the feud assassinations, border raids, brawls, and petty robbery that characterized the bakufu, just like the six-shooter did the same in the American west over the army's standard-issue carbines.

it isn't folded 1000 times. it is folded about 15 times which causes a 1000 layers of iron and carbon, to make steel.

and yes, they had to do this because the low quality of the iron sand ore Japan had. other pre industrial cultures with superior steel lucked out by having best possible iron ore available to them
>>
>>1215223
Japanese culture is very interesting regarding use of resources because of how poverty their country had been up until Meiji (and even then was still pretty poor til about the late 70s). Iron and steel items have almost always been built to last, and there's a deep thread of reusing worn and broken items. That has been perfected to the point in some industries where repaired items sometimes are more valuable than new ones, like in kintsugi.

Truly, poorfagging is the essence of /diy/.
>>
>>1209755
OP's is better because it has two sides with different teeth, so it's more versatile

In fact, you can cross and sharpen the teeth. it just requires some skill and too much time.

>>1216370
True that. Also, it's way less exhausting to just pull that saw, instead of pushing a regular hand saw and bending it halfway through

Pic related is my fav though
