How to diy free screen for phone old one shattered
>>1217471
>For free go ask a phone repair shop if you can sweep their floor for a month or something.
>For DIY:
1. Verify the LCD is not damaged. Cracks in the glass are okay. Bleeding/dead/lost pixels are not.
2. Watch some youtubes on how to replace your specific phone screen. This will give you an idea of how to do it and what tools. There's different techniques too favored by different people
3. Search amazon/ebay for '<my phone> glass'
Don't just buy the cheapest one: watch to see if it comes with an OCA (optically clear adhesive) sheet, foam screen supports, and screen/edge adhesive.
Technique notes:
1. I don't recommend UVLOCA (ultra-violet light curing OCA) for you because you need to buy a $30 light and you might get cheap/expired glue. Don't listen to the guys saying to cure it in the sun, they are retarded.
2. I do recommend using getting a molybdenum wire kit if applicable to your phone. It depends how many wires attach to the glass. If you just go to town with it, you can cut right through the home/back/whatever/digitizer/antenna wires.
3.I Also recommend getting a OCA solvent kit with a plastic razor blade. This is good for cleaning adhesive off the phone edge no matter how it's secured
4. You want a heat gun. MAYBE if you have a really good hair dryer, but I never even bothered fucking around with one because heat guns are too useful if you're into electronics.
5. You also need this tool kit https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PHNMEMC
The tweezers are nice, everything in there is just nice.
6. You also want some suction cups, but they might come with your glass kit. They can help you pull up the glass while you heat the edge for the last little bit of adhesive.

Why do you say this, and is it typically specified in the product description?
Hey /DIY/ does anyone own any CB-1 headphones or Somic V1 headphones ? Id like to make a 3D model of the earcups or inside shell that holds the driver (going to make the same shell except made of wood) going to use the CNC a friend of mine let's me use , so if anyone has the headphones could you kindly take a picture of the inside shell of the earcup (I'm planning ahead while massdrop ships mine)
>>1217258
Are you asking for this, or a picture after the cushion has been removed?
And why the mod? Does it improve the sound or comfort or appearance or what? It sounds like a cool mod to me whatever the reason.
>>1219286
Better build quality , might belp acoustics, and looks nicer, but i have mine now and they actually arnt as good as i thought so I'm kinda disappointed but i might make a mini portable amp with a battery to go on the inside to produce better sound quality, might aswell throw in a bluetooth module too, considering im making whole new earcups , there's enough room to modify, although these are just ideas ( one thing was i was thinking if buying a 'boomstick' and taking it apart and seeing if i could fit it, doubtful but plan on buying one anyway)
I plan to build a new back deck soon, as the old one was starting to rot after 25 years, and was in the way of rim joist and sill repairs on the house. I want this next deck to be free standing, approximately 2' from the house, to avoid future water problems.
I'm just wondering if my plan sounds sturdy enough. I wanted a simple design, with minimal posts. The deck will be ~15' square, and about 3' off the ground. I want to use 6x6's, one on each corner, post in concrete footings. Rim joists on all sides will be 2x12's, doubled up, and 2x12 joists on 16" centers. Perhaps with the center joist also doubled up for mid span support for the decking boards. Does this sound like it should be stable enough, and not too bouncy? Or should I also use a center post for extra strength? I really like the idea of just having a post on each corner though, long enough to be the corners for the railing. Fasteners will probably be 1/2" carriage bolts, 4 on each rim joist/each post.
2x12 joists are overbuilt as fuck.
>>1217217
Well, 2x10's might work, but for a 15' span, it seems like 2x10's would be a bit on the bouncy side. I'll pay up a bit for 2x12's if it means a more stable deck. Plus, overbuilt is my thing...
Any advice for securing sound dampening foam panels to a wavy steel ceiling? The ceiling is coated in a black paint called dryfall. The 3m spray adhesive seems to mostly work and I was thinking of just layering more on to the panels that drop but it might get worse over time. I tried a different spray, hdx from home depot, and it seems worse.
Might just put spot of super glue on the ceiling then use the spray to secure the foam in place while the super glue sets.
>>1217004
If it never needs to come back off. Contact cement.
>>1217004
Just use some strong type 3M double sided foam type run along the peaks of the ceiling and press the panels onto it with a piece of plywood to ensure flatness
I've been working on turning a picture frame into a "shadow box" by using some wood extensions I cut, stained, and screwed together. The only problem is that the inside is kind of dark.
So, I was thinking to add some small LED lights to the inside and have been searching for premade strips. It needs to be small and have a battery with an on and off switch.
Anyone have any advice on that subject? I keep finding extremely large strips for cars and outside work.
Dude, just my opinion, try wish.com, it will take like a month and a half for them to get there, but they cost 5$/15ft I think, it has an adhesive on the back, can even get a color changing remote and diode set with it, lookup ribbon lights on wish.com.
Greetings /diy/ I'm in the process of water proofing my basement and then I get to the my breaker panel and I'd really like to seal behind it.
Now I need to have work done on the service coming into the house anyways so I was thinking that I would have just skip this part of the wall, have an electrician move the panel, and seal over the old spot afterwards.
My question to you is, does anyone know if there is an Ohio building code that requires the panel to be a minimum distance away from exterior windows? Only thing I can find in the NEC is minimum work space clearance.
>>1216640
If you need to get behind it, just move it out for a while. (though, it is safer to disconnect the service first).
Lots of times we just unscrew them from the wall and hang them with a bit of romex.
Not an Ohio sparky, but I can't recall any code for that.
post pr0n of inside box plz. Looks like older panel but still good. Though I am a bit worried about how the wires are strung about it.
>>1216663
I do commercial low voltage stuff so I am not pleased about the wire routing, but I have seen far worse.
>>1216663

And the knocked this guy out for some reason.
I already rewired the basement outlets because the geniuses decided to run all the basement outlets through 1 GFCI.
Worked great until some random bullshit thing killed my sump pump in a rainstorm.
I need a free standing 10x strength magnifier similar to pic related but with a wider field of view and increased distance from 5cm to 15cm.
I can't seem to find anything available with these specs, so I guess I need to make it myself. How would I go about doing this?
Do you have already the magnifying glass?
Retro Radio Mod
Im trying to make a custom radio using a cathedral radio case that I have (pictured is the exact model). I plan on using an android phone, cheap mp3 player or raspberry pi as the guts.
My problem is that I want to use one of the existing knobs (or build a knob I guess) to switch between 5 or so playlists (and a police scanner feed) but I dont know anything about using knobs as controls. Can anyone help me with this?
>>1216233
The tuning knob is probably connected to a big mechanical capacitor bank inside the case. Sight unseen, the best bet may be to clear all that out and replace it with a 6-position rotary switch such as Pic related, with a matching shaft type and length.
Of the three devices, the rasPi will have better I/O capability for the extra controls. You can either poll them in a little app program that watches the GPIOs and sends commands to mpd or kills and restarts mplayer or whatever, or if you feel bold you could try your hand at device tree overlays and use gpio_keys and triggerhappy to run shell commands.
>>1216233
What is the exact model ?
Is this a genuine philco radio a fucking repro ?
if genuine consider fixing it rather than raping it with a fucking Pi
so i got my hands on a lil baby turbo and i want to slap it on my predator 212 go kart. i dont care if it doesnt make a lot of boost and i dont care if it blows up, im doing it for fun and the engine is old and tired and full of dirt and its just its time to go. all i need help with is figuring out how to run the carb as a blow through, there is literally no documentation of videos or forum posts of anyone actually doing it and describing it, just asking if they could and if its a good idea. the closest thing ive found is someone who supercharged their minibike and used an aftermarket mikuni carb and how to set that up, but i want to use the stock carb and its entirely different from the mikuni. second closest is a channel that turboed a predator 420 but they did a draw through application which i dont want to do because i dont want everything to explode if there is a backfire.
pls halp.
Heyyy do you now how can i fix that? It's my smartphone :c
>>1216040
It's fucked, buy another usb port and replace it.
>>1216041
It is expensive ?
>>1216040
>ripping the entire flex cable like a fucking tard
you need to replace the entire cable, which probably has the antenna, microphone, and etc
why did you take it apart?
so every time I would ride this bike it would feel like the cog would get stuck st some point then you would hear a crunch and it would fall out of fears or the chain would come loose.
On top of that the bike would seem very slow when it felt as if it was running smooth.People on cheap looking bikes would fly past me a lot of the time and I felt like I had to put a lot more effort into getting my speed up than other people (I'm fit and healthy)
How do I fix it what parts would you recommend ?
Btw I took it to a local bike shop last year and they tried to rip me off so I don't really have any where to take it to now.
Clean and lube your drivetrain. Also look up how to adjust your front and rear derailleur.

if the guide isnt clear look up a youtube video.
>>1215420
well it sounds like >>1215433 is right.
Without any other info it sounds like you have your derailleur gears misalligned. So you are in a shitty gear and when you try to switch gears the chain slips off and then catches again. And if the chain is on the small end on both sides (because it slipped off the big side and didn't go up a size on the other one) then you end up with a slack chain and it comes loose.
I want to finish the basement of my four year old house. I assume I need to seal the walls first but there are so many sealants on the market. Which one would you use? Also, the builder installed a rigid foil backed insulation down to the frost line - I assume I should also pull that down and seal behind that. What I am not sure of is what to do afterwards.
Should I chuck the old insulation, frame the walls, then install new insulation between the studs OR should I put the builder installed stuff back up, frame up against it leaving no insulation on the lower half of the wall below the frost line?
>>1214135
If they are vacuum sealed panels then build over them, it's the best insulation and if they bothered to spend the money on them they sealed the wall behind it too. Drylock is also one of the best sealants you can buy commercially.
I'm also curious, I have a pretty dry basement but it has these drainage Wells along the wall
Look into a product called "InSoFast"
I have been disposing of used motor oil, brake fluid, and coolant through my toilet. I flush it down and never see it again. Recently, my septic tank has begun to back up. I live on a farm in the middle of nowhere and I am wondering if this is a task I could fix myself or would it require a plumber? I'm pretty handy with cars and shit so I think I could handle it
>>1223794
I used to seal driveways and I believe that to actually be tar in the picture. I bet some asshole independent sealing crew owner dumped his load before the end of the year so it wouldn't solidify in the tank into some storm drain.
Nigga it's literally free to drop off used oil at auto stores. This cannot be real.
>>1223794
You reap what you sow
If not a troll, i'm glad and i hope your house is fucked forever
Are there any charts that give you what thickness metal you can weld at a certain amperage with a certain stick? Also does flipping the stick around change the polarity? Or is that a myth
>>1223190
i don't know anything about welding.
but i know that flipping the stick in no way can change the polarity. it's not possible.
and also you mean current, not amperage.
>>1223194
Idk the difference but I was referring to the amerage necessary to weld a certain thickness of metal with a certain electrode
>>1223190
Every rod manufacturer provides details for operation. See the package or their company website. Most welders also have amp rating charts on them or in their instruction manual.
>Also does flipping the stick around change the polarity? Or is that a myth
I don't think you posses the mental capacity to weld without hurting yourself. Please be careful
I work with polystyrene blocks, I get a list of different sizes to cut down to but have to calculate best way to cut it and wastage on the fly, is there a app that can pre calculate it for me? i work with 1220mmX1220mmX5000mm blocks
>>1222882
>1220mmX1220mm
God damn metric fucks. Just say 4'
>>1222925
why would anyone want to use some shitty 200 year old world measurement system only used by a tiny fraction of the population?
>>1222932
Dont ask me ask the guy making 1220*1220 stock.
