What light, thin material blocks light from a room?

I want to cover my window, it has to be light enough to be held up by thumbtacks on a drywall wall.

Thanks

aluminimum foil from the kitchen

I'm looking for the same thing, anon. Thanks for making the thread. We can both learn together.

That foil guy is technically correct but when I tried that I couldn't sleep at night because any bug even a small cockroach makes a hell of a racket when they run up a piece of tinfoil.

Maybe some anon can speak to that, how to deaden the sound of a sheet of tin foil.

Your post is the only childish one so far. Maybe you should ban yourself.

Around the house stuff:
>black garbage bags
>bath towels (partial light blocking)
>bed sheet folded a few times (partial)

Less ugly
>black out curtain cut to size and tacked to the wall around the window
>>
>>1216558
Black cardboard.

White cardboard which you have spray painted black.

Thanks, anons, but in my drunken stupor I realize that I somehow thought this was a thread about tasteful window treatments, not rape dungeon camo.

you can laugh, and I suppose you should, but until you've been awakened by one running around on a huge sheet of tin foil you can't really imagine how it pierces yo0ur uh something. it's not loud, just piercing.

so some tasteful window treatments with sound deadening would be nice.

like this old guy here making this truck. it's related, sorta.

You realize cockroach noises aren't supposed to be a problem you normally deal with, right...?

spray paint the window directly
scrapes off with a blade/scraper when you are done.
looks surprisingly ok from outside if you dont let it run/dribble
>>
>How to block out noise?

This is a /diy/ question that gets asked a lot, and the answer and the best and cheapest solution is: eggcrates, lots of eggcrates.

That is a function of LED strips, ideally it should cycle through the RGB colors constantly or make a flowing rainbow of sort
>>
>>1216533
Buy some of that insulation stuff that you put under your windshield to keep your car cool. Its light, totally opaque and also keeps your room cool.
>>
>>1216630
Also some hardware stores sell bubblefoil? Anyhoo, it's foil on top of something that looks like bubblewrap.
I made window covers for my camper/rapemobile. Works well.

I'd like people to stop joking about rape, it's primitive and I shouldn't but it makes me laugh against my will.

Still blackout curtains. They're thin and block all light except for whatever can get around the sides. Come in all colours of rainbow.
>>
>>1216556
This, or perhaps wider rolls you might find.

But if you need something that's not a cockroach detector, aluminized mylar like >>1216591 would work similarly.

The thin film blocks the light while leaving room for normal curtains or wall coverings of your choice. Secure the edges with painter's tape with long-term guaranteed clean removal. Tape both sides of overlaps if using aluminum foil.
>>
Just install a curtain rod-- they're super easy to put in place, and they're generally very cheap. You can also get linen, as it's fairly light weight, but as a knit it blocks out light well.

I lived in Alaska growing up and my mother made all the curtains insulated with magnetic strips on the sides, which fit with the magnets on the frames of the windows, effectively blocking out all light and better insulating the windows in the dead of winter. May be worth a look-- magnetic strips aren't too hard to put in place and remove.

I made removable light proof panels for the windows in my bedroom, so I could sleep in the day (the sun shines directly in from ~6:00 AM to noon).
I used foam board from a craft store covered in strips of foil tape. Cut to fit properly, I was able to press them into the window to block nearly all light from coming through. No damage to the wall, no foil noise, and completely removable.
I wouldn't suggest using foam board, as I found it warps with heat. Strong corrugated cardboard would probably work better.
Using spray adhesive to attach ordinary aluminum foil would probably be cheaper than foil tape, too.
>>
>>1216533
Don't use foil, it'll cook your blinds. Go to Walmart or Joanne's and get some blackout fabric. I've got it stretched and stapled over my windows and it blocks light better than anything I've tried before.
>>
What you want is called Panda Film. It's what pot growers use to make makeshift rooms and block all light because of day/night cycles. It's a really cheap you fucking senseless neets that don't know shit about shit. Go get yourself some life xp niggers
