A trailer with power generation would probably be much better in every way, but it wouldn't have that snowflake sleek look. And a trailer would be cheaper, which isn't as cool.

I desperately need a last mile commuter, this is nearly perfect for my needs lightweight, portable, cheap, and reliable.
The only problem I have is that 15 MPH is not fast enough. Is it possible to mod this particular scooter (swagtron e scooter) or should I try my luck with a different scooter?
24 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
>>1137165

It would be, but, to be honest, I don't trust that style of scooter at much faster than the 15mph it already goes. Tiny wheels with no suspension = sketchy at any sort of speed.
>>
>>1137198
Is it simple to do it? I'll do it if it is, maybe even find out how I can put a variable speed throttle on it
>>
You can hit 25mph on a bicycle easy if youre not a fat fuck

Anyone have such a machine? Can these actually produce commercial-like parts or will the quality suck with detail loss and what not.
39 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
straight up it will depend on your skill and knowledge of injection molding and plastics

if you know moldmaking and mold processing, then you can handle it and understand its limitations

its not hard,
but if you are going into it expecting perfect results right away, then you will be disappointed.

there are a few good resources(blogs) on injection molding at home , read them, they talk about machines like this

also research on real injection molding
these things are mainly for prototyping or at diy at home kinda shit

I mean, what's your minimum amount of potential comfort? How much do you care about passenger carrying capacity? Etc?

Yeah I mean I kinda could do that but that would be white trash as fuck anon, I think.

I want the ability to sleep comfy in my car without it looking like fucking hobo tier.

Take the passenger and back seat out
And build a sleeping platform

Any a/c guys here? I'm looking for recommendations on what to do with my 1999 unit.

I am out of state and renting out my house and my neighbor texted me the other day saying the unit is cycling... turning on and then kicking off repeatedly. Texted tenant and he is less descriptive but said it seems to be working.

Sent an a/c guy out there and he advised there is a refrigerant leak and the refrigerant needs to be replaced. But its the original unit from when the house was built in 1999 so it takes R22 refrigerant which is super expensive right now due to the EPA phasing it out or something.

So a/c guy gives me the following options:

"REPAIR OPTION 1
Leak Search. Add R-22 Refrigerant. Repair leak if possible: $1,220.00

REPAIR OPTION 2
Leak Search. Repair leak if possible. Remove R-22 per EPA requirements. Replace Refrigerant with R-22 Alternative. Add leak-stop additive if leak repair not possible: $990.00

Currently the bill for service is : $170.00 – we will waive this with acceptance of either repair option, or the replacement per attached quote."

At this point would it just be smarter to purchase a whole new unit? They say those things last 15 to 20 years and its about 18 years old now. How much should I expect to pay for a new unit and to have it installed? These Goodmans look pretty affordable.

Any help is appreciated. BTW the house is in Texas and the tenants were running the a/c when it was 65 degrees out instead of opening a window.

get another estimate, don't commit to anything yet
>>
You can get r22 for $20 lb new. A typical 3 ton home system would be 10 - 12 lb of refrigerant. Even if totally empty it'd only take ~$200 in gas to charge. I don't want to call that guy out as trying to sell you a system but get another estimate.
>>
>>1136251
You're likely going to be better off replacing it. Make sure you get one with r134a.

I live in south florida and my family has been evicted for awhile now and weve been living in our business warehouse to keep the business alive and to keep us from being in the streets. Can i legaly live here temporarily since my mother is disabled and im her representative payee and the business is all under my name.

Now that income tax season is around they ask me for proof of living with my family since im the one whose legally financialy taking care of my brother.

All im asking is if i can put that im living in my business warehouse in the income tax return without them denying me.

What does your tax preparer say? You are less likely to be audited if you use one and they'll know a lot more about current FL tax law than 4chan.
>>

>Can i legaly[sic] live here temporarily
Check your local zoning regulations. But seriously who is going to know and who is going stop you?

>I can put that im[sic] living in my business warehouse in the income tax return without them denying me.
For tax reasons your perfectly fine. Mayhaps there is a delay and you receive an audit due to the oddness of your circumstance. The IRS is not in the business of enforcing zoning laws.
>>
>>1135273
What im worried about is if they give the heads up to local zoning officials in my area which then will lead to them booting me out and closing me down. Its all i have left in this world.

Okay, let's be real for a second.

I have a house in California, it's around 100 years old. It's not reinforced for earthquakes at all. I live within 50 miles of a major fault line.

Realistically, the "big one" aka any earthquake between a 5.0 or as a high as a 10 could happen quite conceivably in my lifetime. The last big one was a long time ago and these things tend to come around every 150 years.

Is there realistically anything I can do to stop this shit from falling down when it happens?

Contractors want like $20,000 to bolt the foundation (it's post and beam + perimeter foundation) to it's sill plate, and put in some anchor bolts... but will that shit even help if there's a giant quake anyway?

Realistically is there anything I can do?

It seems like it withstood all the past events.... I would just sit down and read over my insurance policy and maybe add supplemental plans to fill any gaps in coverage.
>>
>>1138330
Move. When the big one happens. You're utterly fucked. Roads so damaged they're closed naturally. Riots. Fires. No running water.

The idiots who live around that line are the same idiots who live in 100 year flood plains. "Hurdur could never happen to me, only if it does the streets will only get 1/2" of water..." 2 years later... Roof under water. "MUH WHY MY HOUSE I DIDN'T KNOW. GOVERNMENT THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT FIX IT! REEEEEEEEEE"
>>
>>1138338

It has survived true, but it's pretty apparently looking at the bones / structural shit (after recent remodel) each past quake has affected it. Nothing is plumb or even close to level. Several walls bowing out, sill plate is loose and lifting in some areas. It's fine if the ground is still but I dunno

>And why the hell do they cost 10 times what normal brands cost?

They use high quality materials while paying a living wage to Americans in American factories while at the same time having a lifetime warranty.

You pay out the ass so that they dont go out like Craftsman has.
Raw materials go up?
Stricter EPA guidelines making manufacturing go up?
High taxes with wages going up?

You can start cutting corners on your manufacturing or materials.
You can straight up send your manufacturing over to china
You can remove the warranty.

Or you can just keep yourself as a premium brand and raise the cost of your tools.

Dont like it? Buy chinese wrenches made in a sweatshop. Itll turn a bolt

Anyone make an ebike or have an ebike? I'm looking at rear hub kits on eBay and aliexpress but it seems like their are a bunch of about the same kits for a wide range of prices. Anyone have any tips or bought any?

the problem with hub driven wheels is all that unsprung rotational mass.

If you need to pedal without power you've got a lot of extra work to do to get where you're going.

I have the Bafang 8fun BBS01, BBS02, and BBSHD. mounted on three different bikes. They're a mid drive motor that uses your bike's drivetrain to do the locomotion. The bennefit over hub systems is that when you're not using the system there's a significant effort savings because of no rotational mass getting in the way, and the weight of the motor is centered on the bike and not in the wheel. This mass location leads to a smoother riding bike.

And another great bennefit is that the increased gear range you have on the rear derailure means that you can keep the motor in it's efficiency band much more accurately.

(7.00" x 25.00" x 16.80" including panel) . lol- could get buried in that fucker, which you maybe need to, startup noise of 45 fans etc. right next to your ear. Them called rack servers for a reason, so put em in a rack, well the fuck out of earshot.

OP, if you just dong office stuff? jist get a modern SFF, can use in either orientation, samll, fits behind monitor or, desk, monitor on top. No good for gayming tho - or ebay an offical old-school beige box, upgrade power supply (AT->ATX) as needed.

What do you guys think of this crossbow trigger mechanism? I saw tutorials on how to make a crossbow trigger mechanism but I thought they were too complex. You literally just pull the string back and let it sit on the crook, you push down and it releases. Easy as fuck.

try burning it. In an oven at high temp (dont melt it though and keep the oxygen flow right). Do you by any chance need it to make termite?
