I have some wheels from Heelys, how do I go about putting them into some decent adult sized shoes?

Maybe a nice smart pair of brouges with a thick heel.
my feeling is you need an incredibly sturdy heel in your shoe, trainers may prove difficult.

what were the wheels attached to in the wheelies?
>>

You can buy adult heelies. Just Google it. They are still around

you need fucking platformers or something. ask rdj where he gets his shoes.
probably some metal c bracket molded into the rubber sole or something?

Where can i find a bat the same specs and dimensions as this? And is it feasable to connect this plug to it, or will i be able to find a bat with this plug already on it? Dji are useless so i wont be able to get a replacement from them

Looks like a pretty standard 3s battery

And the connector is absolutely standard but that one specifically is for the individual batteries and hot for huge loads (think charging not flying)

What are the dimensions?

What kind of wall safe for keys can you not crack open easily? Carers need to come to my house regularly to help my parents and they say it's not possible to give them all keys and instead a wall safe containing my house keys has to be installed outside my house. Problem is, youtube is full of tutorials on opening these.

>how to keypad lock a door
it depends on your overall security strategy and opsec, a keypad can be bruteforced at night, a door lock can be picked open, windows can be smashed, your helper might leave the door open, your helper might not return the key, etc

it is impossible to comment without your situation in detail, you can weld the door shut but it would still be meaningless if there is a window next to it.

I'm really not even sure. I just don't want to make it easier for an intruder than it already is. I have a home alarm but my dad is a stroke survivor and my mother is a diabetic with heart disease and I work 9 to 5.

This could be an option as the only reason is that the helpers don't want a bunch of keys. Thanks

I would like to utilize the condensation effect of my home toilet to function as a dehumidifier for the bathroom. This would effectively solve two problems, that of the toilet "sweating" and dripping, and of the humidity in the bathroom which is causing mold. I've considered some sort of robotic squeegee system or some shit, but that's fuckin stupid. The shape of the tank is irregular. Is there some capillary action I could use to direct the small beads that form into a catchment through an absorbent material? What about a hydrophobic coating?

pic related, result of mold exposure if unsuccessful

>>
Out of curiosity, how hot is your bathroom?
>>
>>1134281
normal temp, maybe 70f, 73f at most. It's hella humid in my area, so water condenses readily wherever there's a significant temperature difference. It's a common problem with toilets from what I understand

would a hydrophobic coating make the water drip down, or just repel the water vapor and prevent condensation in the first place?
>>
>>1134387
it would be cool to form a drip path by selectively coating the toilet with the seal and adding a small fan to direct the condensed droplets there like beads of sweat down a fat magic player's butt crack . orrrr run a fan with, like you said, a sponge filter at the intake. but give the sponge enough cross sectional area area to catch a lot of water and let the drip of the sponge again feed to the original water source.

What are some half-decent diamond stone sets under $40 for my cheap ass? I'm looking for a set of two or three for sharpening chisels and plane irons and such. Anyone have any first-hand experience?

>>
>>1134148
Not gonna happen. Anything that cheap won't be close to flat. Get DMTs or get some cheap oil/water stones. Why are you set on diamond?
>>
>>1134148
well I enjoy the harbor freight ones, but definitely not that flat.
I mostly use it for the 200 grit one.
next level up (that actually goes to a decent grit) is Chef's Choice.

You may need to get DMT if you go up to a grit where dead flat is really important, like 6k or 12k.
i decided to stop at 1200/1k

there's nothing wrong with using a simple oil stone

Can anyone tell me about working with lacquer? I am specifically interested in however the Japanese do it. They get such deep, rich color and a really polished looking surface. I know its called urushi, they use a shit ton of layers, and polish each layer with charcoal and water, but I can't find clear instructions on how to do it or detailed information on the process.

I'll only bump this once. I've done other wood finishes, those are pretty easy and simple, but never worked with lacquer let alone Japanese variety.
>>
>>1134113
Look on YouTube for the lacquer episode of Takeshi's Art Beat, he goes through the whole process with a master craftsman
>>
Dunno if you live in the states, but I was looking into it once and it seemed like it's kind of hard to get actual urushi lacquer because it's caustic and toxic.

Alright /diy/ this is my first time posting here. I'll get right to it; I need to make a large mousepad, pic related.

The standard idea on google is cardboard and some fabric. I'm ok with this but I wanted to run it through you guys first.

I have no money to buy anything (hence diy) so please don't send me to the store. I'm trying to make a precise, steady mousepad (or mouse surface) focusing on effectiveness instead of aesthetics. Thanks.

>>1134041
be carefull about cardboard because most cardboard that can be easily found just laying around will be very suspectible to dents. Like if you press your palm into it when you're leaning to get something behind the monitor.

Very true, thanks.

For super ghetto budget you could get piece of plywood and cover it with female stockings.

So I am running 2 coolermaster 12v .16a fans off an old radioshack 500mA ac adapter, so far it runs cool when left on 24/7.

I was thinking of adding another fan, possibly with a 100ohm resistor.

Would this cause any problems with my power supply? kill a watt says it uses a .7 power factor and 400mA from the outlet.
4 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
2 @ .16A = .32A = 320mA for the two existing fans
The adapter is good for 500mA so you have 180mA to spare.
if the new fan also draws .16A (160mA) , you're just under the limit of 500mA, so that's fine.

>possibly with a 100ohm resistor
>12v .16a
R = V/A = 12/.16 = 75 ohms (assuming the new fan is the same as the old ones)
adding a 100 ohm R would drop the fan voltage to (R/Rt)*V = (75/175)*12 = 5.14Volts, and reduce the current to 12/175 = 69mA.

12V, 160mA = 1.92watts
5.14V, 69mA = 0.35 watts
Don't know how well thet would work.

>kill a watt says it uses a .7 power factor and 400mA from the outlet.
Meaningless. It includes the power consumed by the adapter which is unrelated to the output current capability of 500mA.

If in a pc just wire the fan to 5v
>>

5V may not be enough to spin some fans, an alternative is to wire it between 12 and 5, so you get 7V

So, I'm inheriting a 71' Volkswagen beetle from my old man and I thought it'd be nice and practical to have a simple and cheap amplifier than only inputs a music from my phone and outputs for 2 stereo 4ohm speakers that I have in here to test it, anyone of you anons have some schematic(I have some experience with electronics) or some preferred IC instead of TDA 2616?

Car amplifiers generally use a different design that doesn't require both positive and negative voltages, but does require two wires to go to every speaker instead of using a common ground.

The Chinese sell 12v car amplifiers for only $10-20, but when connected to the noisy 8-14v you get in a running car, they tend to die in a few months.

Consider buying a vintage tube carradio : most of the times they lack FM and only come with deprecated wave bands.

Once you get your hand on one of those, just get one of those cheap bluetooth to audio module and wire it right after the preamp/mixer tube.

Nobody will blame you for not willing to hear cellphone jamming on longwave radio, and considering how your kügelwagen looks like she has been well cherished, it will be shame to put a modern cheap/gook/plastic amp into it

This is a long shot but /diy/ has some pretty smart guys. I live in the pacific north west. We've been having a drought pretty much the entire time Ive lived here and never had flooding issues but now all of a sudden some fucking storm has dropped about 3 years worth of rain in my yard and now everything is a foot deep in water. Literally. My green house, my garden, the chicken coup, it's the craziest shit I've ever seen.

As it turns out my property is the low point in which all other properties drain into and now I own a fucking lake.

The previous owner stated that she "installed french drains" by digging some trenches, filling them with gravel, and then covering them with grass and while I dont know much about drains, that doesn't sound like a drain. Coincidentally the deeper parts of the lake seem to be suspiciously where said "drains" are.

We are expecting more rain this week and it already appears that there's half a foot of water under my god damn house and I'm getting paranoid.

I'm not really sure what the hell I should do at this point. One friend recommended running a pump out and dumping it into the highway drainage ditch, but thats a pretty fair distance away, and another brain stormed the idea of pumping it into the sewage pipe. I imagine that would really fuck things up but I'm no plumber. It's way too late to sandbag and it doesnt seem like the water is going to receed any time soon so what the fuck.

Is the diy solution to this to just pray for sunshine and hope the water doesnt start coming up through my floor? I definitely know what to do after this shit clears up, going to raise the fuck out of my yard and erect a barrier by the neighboring fences so shit stops flowing into my property.

To be clear, this is purely rain water/run off from my roof and the neighbors roofs. No rivers or streams. I don't understand at all why the water is content to pool in my property because it isnt even that low. some underlying soil problem, perhaps?

>>1133768
That actually is what a French drain is.... but they are not about draining massive amounts of water. They are designed to provide a patheay of low hydrostatic preasure for ground and normal rainfall to follow away from the foundation of your house.
For right now. If tou are the lowest of the low points your boned. But if your not, and there is some where you can pump the water to (city storm drain would be ideal,) goto harbor freight and buy a gas or electric ( but really gas is best) powered irrigation pump. Preferably one that does not need to be primed. And a discharge hose.

Pump the water out ,but not into someone elses property ( that is asking to be sued ) if there is a city drain or a creek bed, that would be best.

For your home i hope you have a sump pump if you have a basement.

If you just have a crawl space, clear a path for water to drain.

Once this all passes talk to your insurer. You may need flood insurance, as most if not all "flood " damage is not covered under homeowners insurance
