What do you guys think of this crossbow trigger mechanism? I saw tutorials on how to make a crossbow trigger mechanism but I thought they were too complex. You literally just pull the string back and let it sit on the crook, you push down and it releases. Easy as fuck.

Yeah, a crossbow with a hair trigger sounds like a pretty good idea to me too.

Do you have any idea what kind of tension force is generated by a crossbow

>but I thought they were too complex
They're not. At fucking all. Two moving parts.

This trigger also has the added benefit of actually working.
Compression on mechanism >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> tension on mechanism
At any given point, the mechanism is being compressed, not pulled apart, and abolutely not bent. This is how dealing with metal parts works

I didn't realize how crazy that shit was until I fired a bow.
Fuuuuuck.
Basicly the easyest way i can think of
i used that trigger for a crossbow i build as a kid
and it worked
you need to sand the trigger realy smooth and it will still shorten your string live because it basicly shears the string

I used this back in the day
There are some issues with it, but it did the job
These need to be:
Strong.
Reliable.
Safe.
Accept no substitutes.
Go here and look at how my friend made his.
