Ok so I'm moving out soon and I put together a good budget for everything, but I'd like to cut down on costs in the kitchen. In regards to stocking the kitchen, what is the bare minimum I can get away with?

pic semi related, Victorinox 8 in chef knife. read online that it's a good knife for a low cost

yeah a fully functioning one. I don't want to have many limitations on what I can cook but I also don't want to have ridiculous items that I'll only use once or twice in a year. If I wasn't Asian a wok would be an example of an unnecessary item.

I can't be the only one who is constantly disappointed by store bought apple pastry products.

I haven't made the pastry from scratch, but I have made it using pre-made puff pastry or phyllo from the frozen section. Much better than the premade pastries. cheaper too.

I just decided to stop being a useless NEET and learn to cook. Ecuadorian spic here so allow me to show you the food of my people!
This is called a "caldo de bola" or "broth of balls" or "soup of balls", this is quite the difficult dish for a beginner and I know shit about cooking so I expected a fucking disaster.

This vomit-like mixture you see in the pot is a mixture of onions, tomato and green peppers with water, anyway lets move on!

I'm an ex-fat and am always hungry no matter how much I eat, like I get stomach pain before i get satiated. i try to control myself but every month or so i'll go on a couple day binge that ends in self loathing

The only way I can cope is to eat one huge fuck off meal a day.
Its weird but eating makes me even more hungry.
If I don't eat anything, I'm hungry but I can manage it.
But if I eat something, and I don't get completely full up, I'll be eating non stop for the rest of the day.

I've also learned that my appetite bears no relation to how much food I need to eat to maintain a healthy weight.
If I eat what my appetite would lead me to believe is the right amount of food I would still be 240lbs.

Even when I was a fatty I didn't go that far. I'll have a cheat day where I go 500 over my usual calories.

Teflon: The Thread.

I've been abusing a teflon electric skillet lately and it's already showing some wear. How soon do you guys replace teflon cookware?

How acid resistant is it really? "They" say it's OK with vinegar, tomatoes, etc, but I don't really trust DuPoint to so much as walk my dog without poisoning it because they can.

Are ceramic non-stick any good?

Is there some way I can use Iron skillets on a glasstop stove, and is Iron-poisoning a real concern with acidic foods in them?

Two things:

I want temperature control (temperature-control sensor like electric skillet). The one month with my new glasstop stove and the heat settings are still bullshit. Cooking eggs and stuff I want tight control without the pan-on-pan-off juggle

I have a glasstop stove and the misses goes apeshit if she thinks something so much as might maybe scratch it possibly... hence electric skillet

I actually haven't used the new stove since we got it. I just keep it polished.

Is there some kind of intermediate I can put on the stove? I was thinking like a copper plate or something with an attached thermometer or something.

Just got home from chemo about ten minutes ago and, oddly enough, I'm hungry.
This is a bit different from the first time I had it, because I actually have an appetite. What would /ck/ eat for their first meal after an important medical procedure/treatment?

It's hot as fuck and despite seemingly normal appetite, I'm feeling a bit woozy, so I'm just gonna have a roast beef sandwich with swiss cheese and mayo, a green salad with balsamic vinaigrette and some iced green tea with rose.

Get yourself a big ass bag of rice for starters. If your area has a bargain food store (like grocery outlet in the states) check out what kind of protein you can get for cheap there. Usually able to find family packs of chickrn breasts or thighs for $4 or less. You can bag them individually and freeze em. Make sure to do it quick though, as their meats are usually close to their expiry dates

I don't care though, I buy traditionally cured bacon that doesn't contain nitrites.

I also find it puzzling that you ask "how many times" rather than "how much". The latter is far more important than the former.
