I think it's about time I make some stuffed peppers.
Should I mix the rice with the ground beef or have them on the side?

Stuffed peppers with the filling on the side...
What the Hell is the point, then? I'm confused now.
>>
>>8103561
Filling would be ground beef, onions, garlic, tomatoes. Or what? Hence me asking!
Easy on the booze, son.
>>
I'd like to know too. And do I really need to boil the bell peppers before stuffing and placing them in the oven? I got some bell peppers that I wanted to stuff with leftover chicken fried rice but I don't know the steps to make a good batch. What has everyone else tried?

So this week I move into my new place. Renovated 900sq ft small house downtown, pretty simple and spare. The location is killer, but its SMALL!

This is the "kitchen area" in the front room. I have permission from the landlord to do anything I want.

Any suggestions /ck/? Aside from kill myself, because then I wouldn't be able to cook any more.

I'm thinking a backsplash and maybe an island. Already have a new side by side refrigerator coming in since this one can't seem to make ice, much less keep frozen foods frozen.

Replace electric stove with gas (if gas line is available)
Put chopping station at end of counter on right side for more table space
Put small island table in middle of kitchen for more room to prep and cook on
>>
Looks fine. Yeah, an island sounds great if theres room for it, without being too cramped.
>>
>>8103520
No gas line unfortunately. I do have a good portable gas burner I use for my wok and other tasks where an element doesn't really cut it, but counter space will be tight.

>>8103527
It will be cramped either way, but I think it will be worth it. At the least there's just not enough counter space . . . if I have a cutting board, food processor, and cooling rack out I'll be using every last bit.

I bet GC's honey butter spread is better.

Don't have any Golden Corral by Long Island, mostly just Chinese Buffets.

Remember, Dutch Countryside is known for its excellent farm fresh food.

Doesn't seem to get mentioned often in recipes, but do you do anything special to prepare your oil when you fry or deep fry things?

Chinese restaurants deep fry spices and aromats to makes batches of cooking oil, Edna Lewis' fried chicken recipe uses country ham and butter fried in lard, supposedly the best carnitas places benefit from using a rolling vat of lard.

McDonalds has mastered this art. That's why their fries are so good. Although I don't really know if you can call it seasoned when all they do is not change their oil for months.
>>
I only make sure that at least 1/3 of my oil is strained old shit.
>>
>>8103298
McDonald's fries taste like they do because they sprinkle them with beef flavoring when they salt them.

Is homemade pasta worth the effort

>>
No, dry pasta is much more convenient and just as tasty. If what you're seeking is the satisfaction that comes from putting effort into a good pasta dish, try following a recipe for stuffed shells, lasagna, or any pasta dish that requires more than boiling + adding a sauce.

No.

I know how long you're SUPPOSED to keep leftovers, but how long do most of you actually keep your leftovers in the fridge?
26 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
In the fridge <5 days, I don't have a lot of leftovers tho I'm pretty good at cooking for one.
>>
I usually toss stuff at a week old. Some things will last a little longer. Other things like freshly made pico de gallo are only good for a few days.
>>
Until it starts getting moldy or smelly.

OK, I've only visited NJ twice and never tried the infamous pork roll. Is it as nasty as it looks? It kind of looks like that dirt cheap lunch meat you see in discount grocery stores.
