I want to sous vide a steak. Does anyone have any cheap DIY sous vide setups for inspiration?
i have the anova sous vide thing. its like $100.
>>8106060
Nice, hows it work?
You know what creates near sous vide quality? Reverse searing. There's like no difference and you don't have to buy a bunch of crap.
Who else /eats the exact same thing every day/ here? And if you do what is it. For me:
Meal 1.
>Smoothie made with yoghurt, frozen berries, bananas, chia seeds, spinach and another random fruit which can be like grapefruit, apple or oranges, it doesn't really matter
Meal 2.
>Fucking massive stir fry of random vegetables, but some staples will be broccoli, peppers, bok choy, eggplant, zucchini, carrots, etc. I only season the vegetables with some soy sauce, pepper and grated ginger
>Meat component in a different pan can be pork, chicken, shrimp, beef, whatever and I season it really heavily with garlic, green onion, oyster sauce or some other kinda sauce, salt, pepper, chilis and ginger (this is seasoned super heavy cause it's going on plain white rice and I don't super season the vegetables)
>Serve on a shitload of a rice
That usually takes me two meals to eat, but I do the bulk of it around 3pm
Meal 3.
>Some prunes, dried fruit and not very many nuts. Probably some bananas or oranges if it's a good time for oranges.
>>8105957
>Eating the same meal every day that can have anywhere between 2 and 30 random ingredients
I think everyone in the planet does that
>>8105997
I don't think so. I never have anything for breakfast that's not a smoothie, I never have anything for lunch/dinner that's not a stir fry and I never have any other meals aside from snacking on fruit/nuts in the evening.
I think most people mix it up a bit more than that, even if my ingredients are slightly modular.
Anderson Cooper only eats Boston Market
Has anyone attempted making everything he eats from scratch? And I don't mean rice and beans but keeping a normal diet

Iced soy chai tea lattle with vanilla
Whole coffee beans. Grind and brew at home.
I've decided to quit the carbonated jew and start drinking more water and juice.
Can you recommend me some fruits?
Tomato.
>>8105619
Drinking fruit juice is in general a bad idea because most of the time you're getting just as much sugar as in the sugary soft drinks. Even if you squeeze your own it's only bandaging the problem. Unless you like drinking pulp.
Maybe try adding a tablespoon of red wine to your 6 or 8 ounce glasses of water. It will taste similar to fruit juice and by the time you've had 6 or so glasses of water in a day you'll have added up to the weekly wine intake suggested for possible health benefits.
Should I buy baking steel instead of a pizza stone?
Neither will improve your shitty Screamin' Sicilian meme pizzas.
>>8105578
Just a random pic you stupid nigger.
>>8105539
if you cook a lot of pizzas, they are nice, but they are heavy - they are slow to heat up and you should test the strength of your racks. i have a steel in my oven and it causes the rack it is on to sag quite a bit.
the best way i've found to use a steel is to just set the oven on broil to get the thing as hot as possible.
we all agree papa johns is the best chain pizza right?
>>8105456
Marco's is probably my current favorite.
>>8105456
For cheap pizza yes, Roundtable is best chain non delivery
It's still Dominos.
When's the last time you went to a quality Indian buffet?
>>8105445
last month but parking on the street was a shitty idea.
Given that curry is actually an Indian dish and not the usual Bengali and Pakistani slop served in so-called 'curry houses' here, 1998, Columbo, Sri Lanka.
>>8105460
heh
It came out surprisingly bland. I've never actually made jam before, so I'm not really sure where I screwed up.
1 cup Doritos (Nacho Cheese flavor)
1/2 packet liquid pectin (Bell brand, if that matters)
2 tsp sugar
1/4 cup water
As you can probably tell, I was mostly winging it.
>>8105416
Here's what it looked like before I added the water.
Proud of you OP.
>>8105416
Food scientist here, did you wash the Doritos before making jam? My lab does a lot of engineered additive cross reactivity testing and we've found that some of the emulsifiers and preservatives added to the chip (what give it the orange color) can react with components of pectin to essentially "lock away" the flavor. If you don't wash your Doritos before making jam, you're throwing away all the tasty goodness of your nacho cheese spread.
What makes you people think we're Subway?

bacon is already the biggest meme food there is my man
Maybe when it comes down in price.
>>8105313
>So when will bacon become the next super food ?
some popular morning talk show will have to call it a superfood first. that will set things in motion
Are you sometimes worried that fatty food will absorb chemicals from its plastic packaging, like milk or minced meat. It is well known that toxic oils enter your food from recycled paper, for example.
Carbon emissions green house gasses peak oil sanctuary cities Hillary Clinton police brutality black lives matter fourth wave feminism: The Thread.
>>8105286
I am only concerned about microwaving plastic stuff. Mom used to get Hungry Jack maple syrup and I don't want to know how much cancer I ingested
>what are best before dates
Or do you bottle your oil in repurposed water bottles? Because I've been told by a savvy co-worker it was bad and should not be done.
