Got some bread laid out, spread some sour cream on it
Spread some sour cream, ham, sour cream, Swiss cheese (grated) and a little bit of beaten egg yellow
Throw some more Swiss and egg yellow on top (spread sour cream on both sides of bread, with top one sour cream facing up)
Got the oven preheated to 350, put them in now

That's not a croque-monsieur for shit. You may or may not use a second breadslice, but the egg MUST be sunny-side up. I've never heard of someone putting cream in a croque-monsieur, but sure, go ahead. Swiss cheese is wrong. Emental or cheddar is correct. If using a second bread slice, there must be no egg before it. You don't fucking put mustard on the thing. You didn't put any tomato slices.
