Do you eat crayfish, /ck/? Do you ever catch them yourself? Other names for those things: river lobsters, mudbugs, crawdads, yabbies, crawfish, écrevisse, flusskrebse, cangrejos de río, or 淡水龙虾.

I'm a Texas native, but the entire rest of my family is from and still lives in Louisiana.
Crawfish boils are considered something like a party or a big family get together. My uncles actually farm and harvest them, so we get good prices, good sizes.
Good god I'm ready for crawfish season to start

They show up in a bunch of high-end French recipes. They're pretty versatile as an ingredient; they absorb flavor well and tend not to have a super-strong flavor of their own.

Can someone describe to me what something bitter tastes like? I don't drink beer and I've only drank coffee a few times. Vegetables like broccoli, lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes etc don't seem like they taste "bitter" and I was never even aware that greens were "bitter" in the first place and I don't know what the shared taste is supposed to be that makes them bitter.

Am I retarded? Or maybe I just can't taste the bitterness in things? What is bitter stuff supposed to taste like? If you can actually describe to me how bitterness tastes in comparison to sour things using words. I always say that I love sour stuff but I'm kind of wondering if it's sour that I like since I don't know what bitter tastes like and thus can't differentiate between them. I coffee is the only thing I really know as a bitter thing and nothing else has ever struck me as bitter.

So I turned 21 recently and want to get into drinks. Got bourbon, light/dark rum, dry vermouth, vodka, tequila, gin, jagermeister, and some old bar tools. Would this be the book to get to get started on mixing drinks? Whiskey tastes fine but martinis taste like shit for me.

For me it is the internet, the best fast recipe source.
>>
Martinis are as good as the gin you use you probably need to find a kind that you like
>>
>>8409527
rather than search the internet for each recipe, i'd rather just have something to work off of first in physical format.

>>8409533
ill try to find a better gin, but i'll probably work on different drinks at the moment. going for 2-3 drinks a day from the internet at the moment.

food poisoning general

going on day 4 for me, I had indigestion on christmas so I took some tums, the next day the poopin started and hasn't stopped. I've been drinking pepto but it comes back as soon as it wears off

I wonder if I picked something up from the sushi I ate on christmas eve. Interestingly despite not really eating much I've gained about 3 pounds and my belly is very distended

Drink milk and honey and fruit juice, to help you shit easier.

Maybe eat some nuts too, and veggies. Even if eating is the lasy thing on your mind, itll help.

A strong black coffee would be good too.

Does anyone here suffer with severe acid reflux like me? How do you adjust your diet to help reduce the effects?

I started getting heartburn to the point where it was getting tough to breathe. Immediately reduced fried/processed foods, completely cut out tea/coffee and all sodas with only the occasional seltzer. Also significantly increased water intake. I'm sure its a bigger problem when it goes from "heartburn" to legi Reflux but its a start.
>>
I've noticed when I have heartburn/acid reflux it almost always involves tomato sauce. orange juice or a carbonated beverage.

Do you get it all the time ? keep track of the meals that give you problems and see if you can eliminate any problem foods

Where can I get tendies for a questionably low price? Can be frozen packaged, fast food, as long as I can get it really fucking cheap. Need to survive the rest of the winter on a limited budget before next semester starts....

Stores like CostCo or Sam's Club if you can afford a membership. Best place to buy food in bulk, especially frozen stuff. Really though, you can cook real ingredients on a budget. A big-ass ham is like 15 bucks and you can eat it alone for about 2 weeks. Throw that bitch in the oven and make sure to carve it into slices or chunks while it's still hot. Carbs are cheap, so get cereal, rice, and ramen for those. Here's a cheap ghetto ramen recipe I have:

>Chicken ramen. Get it ready, but don't microwave it yet.
>Take a raw carrot, like bugs bunny eats, and slide a knife along it to make shredded pieces. Throw those in the bowl.
> Chop up a single green onion into little pieces. Throw those in the bowl.
>(optional) Add three or less drops of "fish sauce". It's a thai sauce you can get in pretty much any ethnic food aisle.
>nuke that bitch for two minutes and add the chicken powder stuff.
>(optional) add a raw egg right when it comes out of the microwave and stir it up until the egg is not really visible. You get egg drop soup with this version.

Another favorite, particularly if I'm craving a breakfast-type meal:
Plain white rice made in your rice cooker or boiled. Drop a raw egg on top of the cooked rice and mix it in to cook it. Add butter and a pinch of salt.

Buy potatoes and eat that instead.

it's food, how can a food shop be bad?

ask a guy who works at a frozen vegetable/fruit processing/packaging plant anything.

we primarily do organic vegetables and fruit but sometimes do conventional crops.

ask anything, but I will not reveal company name or location.

why are they always cut so small, thats the main reason i wont buy them, i'm not a child, give me adult sized veggies
>>
Any bodily fluids from you guys make its way into finished product?
>>
>>8399057
if the pieces of cut vegetables are too big, it will clog the packaging machine.
also just eat more pieces lol who cares if it's not one big piece?

>>8399058
we follow proper food handling procedures so no.
however with organic vegetables there is a higher chance for thistles being in your bag of peas for instance, or nightshade berries in your soybeans. since you aren't allowed to use weed killing chemicals on organic fields. we inspect the vegetables after freezing and pick the bad stuff out the best we can, but it's possible a few thistles or nightshade get through. so always inspect your veg before you put the water in the pot to cook them. comes with the organic territory.

It produces some very good to great results with very little effort in some areas and produces mediocre results with very little effort in other areas.

>Is it worth the money?
For me it was, but I make damn good money and I am very happy with my $300 universal remote control.

I would not recommend one if you had to save or cut back in other areas to afford one.

How do you make a good sandwich?
Is it the bread? Or is there certain lunch meats you go for everytime?

I'm starting to eat more sandwiches but they always come out bland. I prefer sausages for the meats such as salami or pepperoni. But normally I just add meat cheese and mayo then call it a day. Any suggestions on how to spice things up?
