>>8414524

other toast is for desert
Is it worth the hour and a half of stirring to do it the old fashioned way?
Not this thread again.
Might as well get the first question everyone always asks out of the way:
"What is this supposed to be?"
>>8412934
Nougat. Snickers without its caramel and glaze.
>>8412929
Probably not. Doing it at home most likely will give half assed result for a shit ton of work
University food thread? I don't want to keep eating Mc-Cocks everytime I go out to lunch, what are some easily packable lunches I can make in bulk? So far all I can think of is curry and chili
>>8412638

>>8411308
Probably not, no.
>>8411308

What's up /ck/
I rarely come here but I just got a free crock pot and I've never used it before.

Get a bunch of:
Tomatoes
Celery
Onions
Bell Peppers
Jalapenos
Poblanos
Chicken Stock
Andouille Sausage
Dice the veggies, slice the sausage and throw it all in the pot with chicken stock. Set to Low and let it cook for a couple of hours. Serve over rice when finished.
It's just a regular pot on low heat
What's your favorite type of ribs?
boat ribs, lightly steamed.
Post what you are having for dinner tonight.
Whether it be home-made, takeout, restaurant or snacks.
Feel free to rate or berate.

What's in the pastry?
>>8414197
Nothing.
It's just puff pastry.
Alright so I made 3 pizzas. The one on the top of the oven was pretty solid and a piece could easily withstand its own weight.
The other two, placed lower in the oven didn't turn out very solid.
My dough consisted of 2 cups all purpose flower, 1 tb baking powder, 1 tb salt, 1/4 cup oil, 2/3 cup milk
What can you add to make it more crispy?
Was it the ovens fault for not baking my pizzas?
Is milk in pizza the ultimate heresy?
>Is milk in pizza the ultimate heresy?
yes
>>8413657
So post some pictures of them?
>>8413657
I would bet that most of the heat in your oven comes from the top or you didn't pre heat it properly. Also just cook one pizza at a time, if heat comes from the top and baking the bottom is a problem, get the largest pan you have, dust it with flour and pre cook the bottom, this method actually works surprisingly good. Also why milk? Flour, salt, sugar, yeast, water, olive oil. Although oil and sugar are optional but make the taste and texture way better.
name a better tasting apple cultivar
pro tip: you can't

Honey crisp masterrace

Fuji is just Gala for weebs.
Deal with it, OP.
Granny Smith a best
I just found out today that people eat their cereal with cold milk. Wtf /ck/? Please tell me you are not that retarded. Cereal with warm milk is so much more comfy and tasty.
Cereal is a crunchy snack food, like trail mix. Putting milk in it (?) would make it soggy; nobody actually does that.

Do any other adults seriously use anything other than water?
Can someone give me suggestions for what to do with eggwhites to make them better? Starting diet and its my go to for breakfast. I can do full egg omlettes but eggwhites cook and taste different
What seasonings?
What recipes?
General healthy food thread too, pic related to the eggs part atleast
>>8413333
White's only is a meme. Just don't eat them every day for breakfast.
>remove fatty part of egg
>add back less nutrient dense, less flavorful fat in order to cook whites
Makes sense.
>>8413368
Well i was open to options such as poaching to solve this
I'm going to pick up a nice Wusthof chef's knife to replace my 6" IKEA knife I've been using for everything. I know I need something a little longer for certain foods, but am not sure how long I should go. Obviously, some foods, like watermelon, are going to be too big for any knife I want to use for general cooking tasks, but what's a good length for a general purpose chef's knife?
>>8413169
If you've only been using a 6", get an 8". 8" is perfect for a home cook. I just recently went from a 8" to 10", only because I got used to using a 10" at work. 10" is awesome, but it's a huge step up from 6", so you'll likely find it very unwieldy. Another downside of a larger knife is that you'll need a larger cutting space.
Having a larger knife will reduce your angle needed for a rock chop, which will mean less strain on your wrist. It was also mean you can cut more at once, cutting down your work time. Both of these really only matter if you're doing it all day, every day.
I agree, 8'' is pretty much ideal for most home cooks. Or 9'' if you are an average size to large guy. 10'' is for professionals who go through dozens of pounds of produce everyday and have trained to use the length of the blade to cut lots of stuff simultaneously. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7LtTbxIlTE
IIRC some culinary schools prescribe 9'' as the minimum permissible length for their students.
>>8413169
IMO an 8" is too short for many uses, but longer knives have downsides as well.
The main problem with longer knives is you need to have a workspace to accomodate them. For example, your cutting board should probably be at least 4" longer than your knife. I have a 9" knife, and a 17x13" cutting board, which is pretty good but can still feel a little small sometimes. Probably a 5-6" margin would be better. This means you have to have enough counter/workspace to accomodate a larger knife and board, and your sink needs to be big enough to be able to wash them easily.
If I had a commercial size sink and larger cutting board, I would use a 10" knife.
Anybody here ever really had to fight someone for the last delicious Eggo waffles? I have. Leggo my eggo!
