I'm trying to include more oysters and mussels in my diet for health reasons, but I really dislike the taste of any seafood and the aesthetics of them both. What are some ways to prepare them that hide both of these things?
They're relatively cheap here (live on an island), so it'd be a good thing if I could find a way to eat more of them.
>>8414924
Sauteed mussles with thyme, herbs de provonce and some sauce is great once you get good at making it. It takes a few tries to get it right.
Oysters I dunno, I personally hate them, probably due to shucking those fuckers for over a year every dinner service.
>>8414924
Look, if you don't like something, and you force yourself to cook and eat it for "health" reasons, you're going to suffer more ill effects than if you ate any other thing you might like. Stop falling for some bizarre fad that has no place in your world.
Having said that, you're very lucky to live in an area where such tasty morsels are cheap.
Why mussels and oysters? Why not another seafood you might like?
It's easy to get into cod and shrimp and shit bro
Have you ever killed your own food?
Have you ever butchered it yourself?
Or do you only buy meat from the butcher/grocery store?
I was really hungry once and picked some blackberries from the nearby woods. I didn't butcher them, though, just ate them whole.
I live in an apartment so I don't have much choice in the matter.
I did have a roommate whose parents bought half a cow every year and she'd load up our freezer with an absurd amount of meat though.
>>8414735
Sure. I've been hunting for years. Venison, wild pigs, rabbits, quail, pheasant, turkey...
I usually buy meat from the butcher since I don't go hunting often enough to supply all my meat needs, but yeah, I kill & process wild game.
Anyone tried these? Picked em up today and later found out they are apparently spicy enough to warrant a challenge on the internet.
>>8414678
They taste alright. They're only moderately spicy, not really challenge worthy.
>>8414716
>They're only moderately spicy,
That is what I gathered from the videos I watched as well. People are fully composed saying "wew, thats spicy!" -- that wont cut it when you have people turning into a demon from eating a reaper pepper. In it for the taste in the end, going to try them soon.

do you suck dicks? are you a peter puffer?
Are the buns really fresh baked? Also why did you switch to those over a regular old sesame seed bun?
>>8412443
The buns were originally actually fresh baked but in the recent months theyve started shipping them to restaurants already made.Im not 100 percent sure why we switched but my guess is that it was as simple as trying to make the food seem better than what it was.
Do you drink coffee in the evening? Does it affect your sleep?
Coffee gives me gas.
>>8412170
No.
Yes.
Of course it will.
General rule: never drink
Tea, less than 4 hours before sleeping
Coffee, less than 8 hours before sleeping
I always found it hard to sleep though, so ymmv. I think this is a decent rough guide though.
is a hotdog techically a sandwhich
>>8411402
*technically
Sorry guys, being a mong there.
>>8411402
It's more of a 3D pizza, but pizza is a sandwich, so yes.
>>8411402
No. To make a sandwich, you have a filling and bread below and above that filling.
hot dog is bread either side of the filling, with a hinge below.
no.
Tell me about Surströmming, /ck/. Have you ever had it? Is it an acquired taste?
>>8410114
Imagine you took fish, let it spoil, then shat on top of it, and let it spoil for another three years, until it was actually a colony of really thin worms. Then you boiled the worms so they died, and ate them. That is how Surstromming looks and tastes like.
3/10, not the worst thing ever.
>>8410114
Never had it, but here it is prepared by a proper swedish dude as a summer meal. Looks extremely comfy and I wouldn't mind eating fermented herring by his lake
https://youtu.be/kDr0Kbbw6D0
Not nice, but not nearly as bad as vomiting people on youtube would have you believe. Eating it the proper way (not on its own damnit) will go a long way in neutralizing the taste and texture of the fish.
Perhaps someone who isn't as fond of raw herring as I would be in for a bigger shock. I don't know.
philly cheesesteak

>>8416529
I'm not even shitposting, have you ever eaten real tilsiter? It tastes great but the aftertaste of it is like that of feces.
>What's a pallet cleanser?
Hey, /ck/. /o/ here. So for Christmas, my dad got me a vented pizza pan and a big-ass saute pan w/ lid.
What the hell can I do with a Saute pan?
Thanks in advance
You saute things, seer things, pan fry things, make pan sauces, steam things, braise things, shallow fry things, etc., in a saute pan.
What the fuck is a vented pizza pan used for?
>>8415858
I was guessing for a cool recipe from you geniuses.
Pizzas, duh. Holes on the pan and shit, I guess 'vented' isn't the best term.
>>8415923
Sauteing is used in many recipes, so just one, eh, idk. I did use my pan today to saute some onions to make french onion soup. Used it a couple days ago to sear some stew meat and saute veggies for a stew I made. It's a really versatile pan.
Nobody actually likes this crap, right?
It's a common ingredient, so yes, and you just started this thread yesterday.

Everything about this looks like one of those "good-idea-at-the-time/bad-idea-afterwards" sorta things.
4/10. Would be higher with different beer selection, and if those wings were spicy garlic.
