I don't know. Why don't you ask him
He obviously believes they are undervalued and will perform better in the future.
What are some 2 year degrees/trade schools that can have me taking home ~$3K a month on a 40 hour work week? Everything I come across that makes that much with little to no schooling requires a ton of overtime and physical work to get to $3K a month goal. Just want a modest 9-5 Mon-Fri job with good job security, no overtime/long hours, etc.
Thought of becoming an accountant but I'm 23 and my life will basically be halfway over by the time I finish a 4 year degree and start my life.
Looking at quick 2 year programs offered at the college here. Besides trucking, I could do:
IT (all of the good jobs will probably be taken by oversaturated bachelor degree graduates)
Aviation Maintenance (not a lot of job openings around though)
Business Management (supervisor at a factory/distribution center)
Respiratory Therapist (i have no idea but it seems to be in demand according to Indeed)
Radiology Technician (give cancer treatments)
Nursing (ER/ICU)
Funderal Services (hard to get into, but great job security once you're in)
I don't have very good social skills. I'm good at math but I don't want to be stuck in a cubicle all day. I was thinking of radiology tech. It's a quick year and a half certificate program and I could make up to $30/hour after 2 years experience according to job postings online in my area. Starts out around $22/hour though, which isn't bad.
Bump.
I'm thinking of either Radiologist Technology or Respiratory Therapy.
They both start about the same, but I think respiratory has a higher ceiling. But, respiratory is moving to bachelor degree required instead of Associate's. Radiology isn't. Both have a good job market. Not as good as nursing, but I still should be able to find a job easily.
They both require an Associate's degree before applying for the program, so I figure I could get a Business Management degree. That way, I could still fall back to applying for supervisor or assistant manager positions.
Mechanical designer here.
I'd rather do the medical stuff but I do make 65 a year.
Dad just gave me $500 to invest in my first stock trading account. What should I buy biz?
Nothing unless you're using a fee-free system like Robinhood
Let's say your broker requires $9/trade. You open a trade, you later close it. $18 total. You had invested $482. $18 is 3.73% of $482. That $482 worth of stock needed to rise by 3.73% just for you to *break even*
Since commissions/fees are generally fixed, trading with small amounts of money puts you at a disadvantage right out of the gate
Unless you're planning on daytrading and losing all of your money, that 500 won't make you much

If you had $100k to invest, what would you do with it (assuming you have no other debts to pay off)
probably invest most of it in drug company ETFs or rental properties in florida
trump seems to have a pretty good stance on drugs, getting them out to market easier. should be good news for biotechs. And I know people who make good money on florida rentals, so I want to get in on that eventually

Can I even invest in the US stock market / Vanguard American ETFs if I'm European?
You can invest in European ETFs that replicate US market, e.g. iShares S&P500, Lyxor S&P500
>>1637696
Yes you can. Don't do it though, unless you have a lot of money to invest in that specific stock because the fees can be crazy.
>>1637696
Sure, I invest in VTI ETF.
What would happen if everyone in the country was somehow forced to be "good with money" ie lived within their means, spent and saved responsibly, etc.?
Would this be a net good or bad for the economy in theory?
It would be incredible
>>1637686
Look at Japan
The key word is 'spend'.
Risk is the mothers milk of capitalism.
A lot of entrepreneurial endeavours wouldn't exist, as people would likely be more conservative with money. So many transactions you wouldn't consider 'responsible' would lead to a deduction of growth in many parts of the economy.
My guess is that the cost of living would go down, luxuries would increase in value due to smaller supply. You would live a more wholesome, but less colourful life.
I'm not paying back my student loans, Mr. Trump. Understand?
Let me be clear on that Mr. President Elect.
Here's why.
I never agreed to be forced to take social justice and 'multi-cultural' courses that intentionally and specifically attempted to force me to revoke my faith of Christianity.
That was never part of the loan deal.
THEY made the breach of contract.
Not I.
THEY.
NOT I.
They aren't getting paid.
And you better throw the Department of Education back into the slimy abyss from whence it came.
They have ruined my life and my career.
Those loans are not going to be paid.
Ever.
If they want to throw me in jail, then I will counter sue the university, and I will bring this all the way to U.S. Supreme Court and sue the Department of Education as being a complicate conspirator against 1st AMENDMENT OF THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION.
Therefore, the Department of Education needs to figure out how they are going to solve THEIR problems.
And I mean every word I write.
This pile of horseshit that is called the Federal Student Loan program is either going to get fixed, or it's going bust.
You're a smart money guy.
Now prove it.
You agreed by choosing to attend and take those classes.

OP if you are really hell bent on not repaying your loans, literally just flee the country. Once your credit takes a nosedive then you'll have a really hard time find a job or ever taking out personal, home, and auto loans.

>I never agreed to be forced to take social justice and 'multi-cultural' courses
Don't you see any benefit in knowing the enemy? Experiencing a lot of different viewpoints will serve you well throughout your life.
What was the most expensive but useless thing you ever bought?Me:
Chainmail for around 300dollar.Never used it for anything beside bragging.
It was this £500 magnifying glass until you used that picture.

What does /biz/ think of modern office culture?
I work at a significant food enterprise's marketing department, and have worked at a range of other companies and start ups in my career. I've never had to wear a suit and tie to work. Some common themes:
>Casual clothing is allowed
>Office interior design is more colourful and open
>Non-work related internet browsing is acceptable
>Socialising across desks more welcome
>Increased health and safety measures
Do you think this helps or hurts the productivity, identity and well being of employees?
>>1637637
First, the picture of that office above looks like a daycare for adults...
Overall, I'm pretty mixed on a lot of these. Casual clothing I'm not for or against, although I hate when bosses wear blue jeans and some blazer top. Office interiors should have some life to them but there's a fine line again. I'm for non-work related browsing because that'd be in my interest as an employee. Social life in the office is mixed, I guess it matters on the industry. If I'm in business to business sales I want to focus on each call. The last part I don't understand, what are some offices doing to increase health and safety measures? Giving everyone hand sanitizer or something?
FWIW I haven't worked in an office so my opinions really don't matter. I like freedom but there should be some degree of professionalism and organization.
>>1637660
>First, the picture of that office above looks like a daycare for adults...
That's what it is.
>>1637637
>Casual clothing is allowed
This is a good change. Having a dress code is fine, but making everyone wage slave away in suits was just pointless and uncomfortable
>Office interior design is more colourful and open
Open offices are cancer, but anything is better than cubicle mazes
>Non-work related internet browsing is acceptable
Fucking around at work has always existed
>Socialising across desks more welcome
Was this a problem before?
>Increased health and safety measures
Where was this a problem in the past in other blue collar jobs?
The things that I personally cannot stand are office pets
Be honest: do you know how screwed you are?
Everyone knows how Social Security is going broke but did you know that you have no chance of living off of your 401(k)/IRA proceeds?
Captain Capitalism even suggests the "Smith and Wesson" retirement plan (suicide).

>>1637635
What? I contribute18k to my 401k, even if I'm not expecting much of a return out of it over the years it saves me some cash on taxes, and I can still save on top of that. This is stupid.
>>1637639
If you're not going to be honest, then GTFO.
>>1637652
what do you mean? My 401k is up 8 percent this year anyway.

why is Pepe using a fork to electrocute himself? A knife would be easier.
>>1637593
1. come up with a trading strategy
2. formalize it as code
3. integrate it with a broker API or write an autotrading plugin for MT4 or something
4. let it run
5. lose all the money in your demo account
6. go back to 1.

Hello fellow anons I came here today to ask for some help about my future. Currently I'm a couple of months away from graduating High School and am absolutely terrified at whats next. My family keeps reffering to it as "The Real World" and that I should be prepared. Problem is I look at me and my family as absolutely pathetic in every way and I don't trust their advice on going to college. All of them are college graduates and all of them are making less than 15$ an hour so I cant really take their advice seriously. I still consider college sometimes, but the more I reach my graduation date the more it feels like a scam. Is this just burnout and should I just go for it? I have taught myself to program games with Java but Iv'e reached a wall and don't feel like thats going to lead me anywhere but its a potential source of income. Also, what are some things I should be aware of before I solo this? I appreciate every bit of help. Thank you.
>>1637582
I guess I'll just die.
>>1637582
I'm in the same shoes as you, the difference is I'm not anxious about the "real world", my advice is get a job to get a clearer picture about the responsibilities you'll face in the future, and understand that if you spend your money like a fool you'll just be doomed to live the wagecuck life, if you can call it a life.
I'm taking the entreprenureal path, I don't think I can go through another 4-8 years of any education system, I'm sure you can make some nice dough by getting a good degree, it just seems easier to me if I were independent.
I'm 17 btw, so you don't really have an excuse for not getting a job.
good luck.
Go to college otherwise you're at a disadvantage compared to literally every other kid your age that is getting a degree
Degrees dont define your future but what you do with it will.
Biz boys
>self proclaimed "next Warren Buffet"
>Shorts 1G$ worth of HLF and spend months and hundred of millions of dollars lobbying congress
>FTC rules against him, HLF surges
>loses million sof dollars a day
>will hold his short until "the end of time" (his words)
why do smart/rich people do dumb shit like this ? is it because of their ego ?

There's a thing in Thailand that the more a person says how spiritually acclaimed they are, the less they are respected by the average joe.
Not to mention his stake in VRX.
Though his CMG bet seem to be paying off.
>>1637520
It's called the sunken cost fallacy.
Being rich doesn't mean you are immune to emotional investing
