I have a full-time job with local government that pays 50k plus benefits. I only spend around 25-30 hours per week actually working. Job atmosphere is very easygoing, high degree of autonomy and next to no accountability as long as my work is done professionally and competently.
I've been offered a move to the private sector for around 65k (exact number would need to be negotiated), but would be a real 40-45 hours of work per week.
Instead of making the move out of the public sector, what are some good ways to make money with a "part-time" gig/business during the work week?
Take the cushy job. I make 96K a year doing something with a ton of responsibility (people die if I mess up) and work 50 hours a week. It's not worth it. I save 80% of my money and it doesn't bring me joy. i wake up everyday wishing to quit.

Sorry to hear that man. Medical field?
I'm pretty set on staying in my current position. I value my time pretty highly, and I really dislike the idea of working the the managing partners of the organization that wants to hire me.
It would be really nice to come up with something to occupy my free time with, though. Brainstorming now for some good ideas. Lead seems to be real estate.
why do people assume capitalism is a perfect or is the best or is the more desirable system?
>best system
>has a minor crisis every 7 years
>currently is collapsing
wow, best and perfect system.
It's flawed but that doesn't mean it isn't better than the alternatives
>>1636672
because it rewards people for doing better and outsmarting the next person. improving humans well being such as finding medicines and getting that medicine to people for cheap.
unlike socialism that doesn't give any incentive to do better in life, thus dragging society down in long term due to not discovering anything new and advance.
>>1636684
that's a huge generalization though. There are forms of socialism that work quite well. For instance a business run by it's employees. China's socialism seems to be working okay for them. Sweden is the most socialist country in terms of equality of wages and they are doing just fine. It really depends on how things are managed. I think it's hard to say X is the best system for X country because there are many factors that determine what is the best system for each and every country. There are some countries that are "too socialist" and some that are "too capitalist". It isn't really black and white like many people make it to be.
Vanguard lends the underlying shares of their ETFs to other institutions. What if those folks lose the shares (due to them going bankrupt or them lending it out to someone else that becomes insolvent)? By comparison, SPY does bot lend out their shares. If Vanguard loses even $1 of equity that they lend out, technically they would become insolvent (until they raised fees). Keep in mind no one thought Lehman Bros would go bankrupt.
>>1636637
Who is that in the pic?
On what terms does Vanguard lend out shares?
Vanguard becomes insolvent its liquid assets like cash and bonds are less than the debt it needs to pay.

I don't know, but this is worrying me. Can you give me a source?

What step am I missing in my business plan /biz/
Just one. Taking action.
It's called ewhoring and people have been doing it since the dawn of the internet, and still are.

How hard is it to pass the Bar without actually going to law school?
>>1636053
Wait, you can actually become a lawyer in 'murica by just passing the test?
If this is true, this is the fucking greatest country in the world, son.
pretty
>>1636193
Found it
"In five states, you can still take this non-law school route to becoming a lawyer. Vermont, Washington, California, Virginia and Wyoming all allow people to become lawyers by “reading the law,” which, simply put, means studying and apprenticing in the office of a practicing attorney or judge.
There are a number of reasons why this option is important: it makes becoming a lawyer more accessible to a wider demographic of people; it frees new lawyers from the shackles of law school debt; it allows lawyers to study in the communities they want to serve rather than leaving the area for law school; and more."
SO yeah, 'Murica is the greatest country in the world - but just in the faggot states.
So when exactly can we expect high paying manufacturing jobs coming back to America now that Trump won?
>>1635646
January 21st. I can feel it in my loins.
>>1635646
when epa and trump add more factory regulation
>>1635646
Never you fucking idiot. Manufacturing jobs peaked in 1979 and have fallen since mainly due to two reasons:
1. Other nations have a competitive advantage due to lower cost basis with workers being paid substantially less and companies not having to face environmental and safety regulations.
2. Automation which is ever increasing. Although US manufacturing jobs are at or near an all time low, productivity is at an all time high due to automation. Although we've seen some manufacturing come back in recent years due to an increase in transportation costs and the wages of foreign workers, there's been almost no job growth since the factories that came back are highly automated.
>going to my retailcuck wagie job
>work part time for 6 hours 3 days a week but my week consists of days ruined by work or days dreading the upcoming work days
>do a job that some silicon valley 19 year old should've automated by now (they're too busy with the college fuckfest)
>sometimes get seen by people I went to school with and yhey probably laugh at me
>was laughed at by girls younger than me who knew my name ("Hey look it's Anon") and I didn't even know who they were
>manager realised I've been taking 40 minute breaks instead of 15 and subtly told me to cut it out
>did a degree and I'm smart but lazy
>had lots of graduate interviews but after a lifetime of doing well in academia I can't pass interviews because I'm not a normie
>tonnes of chad and Stacey couples at my workplace, many of them younger than me
>never ever had attention from a girl ever, have had zero social life for years
What's my stake in society? I lift weights but can't motivate myself to stop binge eating or work hard in my free time (on programming stuff). I go to the library and cinema to feel less alone but it never works and I go home feeling conned and sad after seeing hot girls I'll never talk to and people enjoying their youths.
If I got a graduate job then at least I wouldn't be a low status cuck but it would be mind numbing and soul destroying.
Life is unfair. Some posh person who goes to a private school is taught to act in an ubernormie way and skates through a zero work arts degree at university. This is the type of person interviewing me when I go to graduate job interviews in London.
This is humiliating and depressing. Who was the con artist that said that work gives any pride ever?
And pop songs played as muzak, which are the anthems of normies. Images of models and celebrities are shown everywhere. These are the people who post Instagram selfies gloating about "Puttin in da #work" when they had everything handed over to them due to their looks.
That's weird, the URL says /biz/ but this post is clearly from /r9k/

People who actually feel pride and content with it?
I want to make "4chan for normies", with a fancy mobile client, authorization, no porn or other type of explicit content, etc.
Any advice? How to make it get popular?
how about create a better idea.... oh wait you can't because you depend on other existing things to make a business out of it. you have no creativity and think that your "GREAT IDEA" will give you an escape from your wagecuck job... loser...

So I'm starting uni next year (I'm 18 and just graduated High school). I work at pizza hut for around 30 hours a week. Should I put some money aside and invest it into an energy company? I'm going to be studying IT and might start a business from that. Does that sound like a decent idea?
>>1635148
>an energy company
yea . put ur money in that.
it sounds like a great business model with terrific financials and a very attractive valuation.

So my dad, who's a truck driver, told me people at his company buy trucks and hire other people to drive them.
A new truck costs around $175,000 - $17500 down payment, then payments for $3000 a month until it's paid off.
You make a revenue, as an owner, after paying the monthly operating expenses and your driver- of $500 a week.
Is this a good investment?
It seems to me that's an annual ROI of 15% - on an initial investment of $175,000, you're making $26,000 a year.
>>1634787
if im going to be renting commercially , id rather rent commercial real estate, due to depreciation.
but yea, its a business. its not sexy or anything. w/e.
>>1634794
Fuck, you're right. I miscalculated the ROI- you don't get your initial investment back- that $175,000 initial investment is fucking gone. After 5-10 years your truck is worthless.
I wonder what the best types of commercial real estate are.
>>1634799
real estate next to huge new job providers
ex. next to the new tesla factory etc.
on the outskirts of areas of gentrification,
big cities etc.
