What are some assets worth over 10 million whose value at least stays the same if not appreciates over time and don't need any maintenance? Private jets, yachts, mansions, etc. all need a lot in maintenance.

We literally have a >50% chance of going into a recession right now.

More often than not, when risk on this chart ticks above 1.5, it leads to a recession.

And it's currently above 1.5

Another risky night
(chi-ka)
Another tense fright
(chi-ka)
And you just might be in danger

Oh the altcoin is here
And it's always a fake
The shitcoin is here
There's no reason to shake
The altcoin is here
Oh give us a break
It's fake

Another whale attack
(chi-ka)
She's breathing down our back
(chi-ka)
So we're making tracks for the dump

Oh the shiller is here
It's a crook in a suit
The shiller is here
He's protecting some loot
The shiller is here
Oh give him the boot
He's fake

It doesn't matter where we go
We know
A 10x altcoin is gonna show and so
We look for the bogus
We look for the scam
And every time the altcoin is a sham

We see an eerie light
And if the mood is right
Then you just might sight a monster pump

Oh the altcoin is here
It's our frightening task
To face our fears
And the altcoin in the mask
So the altcoin is here
There's no reason to ask
It's fake

Oh the shill is here
It's a crook in a suit
The shill is here
He's protecting some loot
The shill is here
Oh give him the boot
He's fake.

people like to forget that the universe is inherantly meaningless, and that no human is under any obligation to do anything, other than the obligations that they themselves adhere to. Ie. All meaning is relative to its societal context. There is no such thing as immortal moral truths. There are only actions which increase suffering and actions which decrease suffering.
>>

You could be using that time to earn more money. Money now is always more valuable than money later. You can always take however long of a vacation you want when you are retired.
>>
I do the same thing. Work aside from money is meaningless.
My life for the past few years has been simple. Work for a little bit. Have enough money to live for many months doing nothing.
Once my wallet gets light, start working again. Money can always be earned. Especially if you have skills. If you're dependent on being someones employee, such a lifestyle is more difficult to maintain.

Do affiliate marketing websites actually make okay money? You know like writing a small overview or review of an item and linking a page to buy it from Amazon? I don't expect that sort of site to make a lot of money but in January my grace period for my student loans will run out, but I don't have a job right now. I'm a programmer / web developer, I've already made the basic design of it already but is it possible to make about $150 + server costs per month? It'll hold me over tell I can find the right job.

>inb4 suck dick

It's possible to make $150+ a day with AM. My personal high score was just short of $500. No ad spend either, pure spam, all profit.

Will you make $150 month though? Probably not at the start, unless you take some advanced courses from someone who knows their shit. It takes most people several months, if not years, to reach numbers worth talking about.

I see, well if I work at it maybe eventually I can make it. I have a couple ideas for marketing, like having a bot that would keep up social media stuff for the site for me. I think I can have decent seo also.. I think its worth trying.
>>
>>1635994
there's IFTTT and things like buffer.com to automate posting on social sites. could save you time vs writing a bot.

but my all means go for it. you will make a profit so long as you stay consistent. all your efforts are compounded.

most people give up early. my friend wanted to get into affiliate marketing. i set him up with a blog which he wrote several articles for. then i told him to start promoting on social sites since it's free/minimal effort.
he did it for 2 days, didn't see any profit, and gave up. don't be like him.
a week later he ended up getting an order which made him a $20 commission. but it didn't motivate him to keep going. he's back to smoking weed and playing video games all day. oh well.

Have /biz/ started their own business, do you plan to? What was it? How did it go?

I'm considering starting a small painting business next year to earn some more money with my university studies. I'll probably just start by handing out flyers around the coastal houses - since they always require painting. I hope to attract them with the cheaper prices I can offer compared to the professional painters (which are are excessively costly). The capital start up costs aren't that much (paints, equipment, etc..), and the return is good.

Just a general business start-up thread.
Tips, advice, suggestions, stories.

I want to start my own business as well, but pretty clueless on where I should start. I have a Finance/Accounting degree and experience as an accountant.

I would like to just buy/sell goods to make a profit, but my knowledge of advertising is next to nothing.

Anyone have suggestions on sites I can sell products on where advertisement isn't necessary? Sounds like it would be extremely difficult to make a profit on Ebay woth the cut they take.
>>
>>1635891
I think it's a good idea. First off you should make yourself known. Flyers are a good way - just spot the houses that need it badly (supply and demand classic). It's all about finding the customers that need your service and making them see that. Fb ads could probably help.

Be faster, cheaper, or better than the competition. Or all three combined.

When you start to do it well, others will ask about you and you'll get yourself new customers. In no time you'll go from painting houses to buying them, refurbishing them completely and selling them for a profit.
>>
>>1635920
>buy/sell goods to make a profit
Yeah, I'd also like to do something like this. Although, like you, I wouldn't know where to start aside from finding semi-decent things being undervalued at fairs or garage sales; then selling those online.

What is the cut that Ebay takes from sales? How is that some things like electronics can get sold for less than a dollar, how can that even be a profitable model?
I find internet-based businesses unusual, and prefer ones which aren't based on the internet. This is mainly because I have more experience on ones which aren't based on the internet, from my parents.

Importing/Exporting is also a very profitable business, but it requires a lot more capital than I can afford.

Bitcoin has been all the rage since it jumped almost 900% back at the end of 2013.

What will happen to the price of BTC in the event of a correction/recession? Will there be a negative/positive effect? will it not really change much with the swings in different markets?

Discuss.

depends on whether the fed tries to save the stock market by sacrificing the value of the U.S. dollar. it;s the same reason the gold bugs like peter schiff and mike maloney say gold is a good investment during upcoming QE bubble burst. so just think of bitcoin as digital gold for the future. and there are a lot of reasons why bitcoin would be a better investment thank gold during a fiat currency collapse. first one being ease of trasaction obviously, and the face that there is known supply of 21 million whereas gold is unknown. also right now 95% of the bitcoin exchange volume is in china, so idk if even a USD depreciation could affect the price, i feel like it almost has to be china. not sure tho
>>
>>1635876
Do you think the recent jump in price had to do with the problems China economy is currently experiencing? There was a documentary that China is on par to experience a recession similar to the 2008 one the US had.

well i think that the perception that the yuan was depreciating quickly was definitely behind a lot of the bitcoin price hike. I don't think that most ppl in china see a depreciation in the yuan of 1% and then jump to bitcoin which is much more volatile, it just makes no sense. so just the perception and hype around the devaluing of the yuan was the cause behind it i think.

>There was a documentary that China is on par to experience a recession similar to the 2008 one the US had.
this could also be the reason too, i am just speculating.

recession (usually caused by central banking) = more low interest rates = more inflation without letting actual correction happen (U.S. kicked the can down the road in 08') = BIGGER CORRECTION COMING (just my opinion)

i am long bitcoin to 2025

I'm looking at 2 things to sit my inheritance while I'm in school. I'm comparing TSE:VFV (Vangaurd US S&P 500 Index MER 0.08%) and MUTF_CA:TDB902 (TD bank's mutual fund of the same thing MER 0.35). I'm looking at this graph and I'm wondering:

1) Is the MER cost included in this graph?
2) The ETF had several dividends, does google finance reinvest the dividends in this graph?

>>
>>1635545
The real meme is job opportunity at all. Every field is saturated. We doubled our population since 1956, made outsourcing astronomically easier, and introduced automation for factory work, software, legal scans, cooking, essentially parts of anything.

Far more labor supply, far less labor demand. Great Depression incoming.
