Biz please listen to this when it comes to your "big idea"
Of people who become rich:
>99% will just form a business selling a product or service that already exists
>1% will come up with an entirely new product or service like the Snuggy, Scrubdaddy, UBER, etc...
Ideas are usually a waste of time!
i recently got in the business of selling used cars. i live in the south and the same cars go for a lot more money up north. does anyone know how much it would cost to rent a car transporter (or two) and fully load it with compact cars and sedans?
i want to transport between 10-20 cars at a time, and the only information i can find is for transporting a single car.
does /biz/ have any experience in this area?
>>1793913
>i live in the south and the same cars go for a lot more money up north.
*Wrong*
From someone who knows this business I know that the opposite is true, the further south you take them the more they appreciate value, if you take them all the way down to Mexico you can sell a clunk for real bucks.
You're dumb and don't even know your own market
>>1793962
i have property that i can store the cars on, so i'm not concerned about having a place to keep them.
it's just not practical trying to drive a dozen or more cars back and forth by myself.
/biz/ failed to qualify for the Winter Cup that's taking place now, but Spring is just around the corner, and it's a good idea to take some time and figure out which players need to be kept and which need to be replaced for Spring. I'll post the roster and music that /biz/ uses, and we can take suggestions on who needs to be kept or removed for the next cup.
>What is this?
Football matches are simulated using Pro Evolution Soccer 2017, and streamed via Hitbox. Each board gets a team, those teams play each other in four tournaments per year. Summer and Winter host the Elite cups for the top 32 teams, while Spring and Autumn host the babbies, where the 16 worst teams from the previous elite cup and 16 other boards compete to try to win entry to the next Elite.
The full details can be found at implyingrigged.info, along with a link to the stream of the current cup. Unfortunately, I can't link to the stream directly here, but it should be right at the top of the page. You can see each of the teams and their rosters/music, as well.
>Where does /biz/ fit into this?
/biz/ was promoted to the Elite cup last Summer, but relegated back to Autumn after failing to win a game. Unfortunately, with One win and Two losses in Autumn, the team failed to qualify for the current Winter Elite.
>What do we need?
/biz/ has a full roster, kits, and SOME players have models in game (Others are just created in the game itself). What we need to do is figure out if any of the current players aren't relevant to the board anymore, and recommend some replacements so we can try to have models ready for Spring.
Also, if anyone wants to be involved in any way, definitely reach out - I know in Autumn a couple of people were talking about updating the logo or wanting to help with modeling and stuff, and that's very welcome. There's a contact page on the wiki site implyingrigged.info, and I've got Skype/Email/IRC contact details there.
And for reference, here's the current roster.

I want too pretend to have been a Harvard dropout for social climbing purposes.
Basically, I plan to research campus life and whatever throwaway humanities thing I'll pretend to have dropped out of, and then mention having gone to Harvard "for a while" to people likely to care about something like that. I'll be able to talk the talk and without claiming to have a degree, it should be more or less unfalsifiable.
It hinges on one key thing: are all enrolled students a matter of public record in universities? Could I get caught out?
>>1793815
>*to
Not making the best first impression, am I?
>>1793815
You'd get caught fast. Meet one alumni who matches to when you should've been there and you're ruined. Yes, almost all Alumni are online in their own database. Why would you pretend to have gone somewhere, that's retarded.
Very stupid idea. Once you get the reputation of being from a particular school, other people from that school are likely to seek you out. All it takes is meeting one real Harvard grad to expose you, then you'll be socially ruined.
So Biz,
I have about 20k in cash at the bank with no debt right now.
1 year ago, I opened up a brokerage account and put in 13k to start with. I mostly invested in US stocks that I chose based on themes that I think will do well.
I have chosen my companies well. For example I bought:
Amazon @ 480 ( currently it is 820)
FB @ 118 (currently 134)
Nvda @ 61 (currently at 115)
MS @ 37 (currently at 44)
and also some other European stocks that have done ok.
I managed to get my assets to 16.5k last year, which is a decent 1 year return of 26%.
However, I'm not satisfied with these, so i opened up an options account last month. Over the last month, I have made $1200 with (relatively) low risk bets in options.
I am now thinking of scaling up my options trading, with a goal of doubling my money in 6 months.
Has anyone of you tried such an aggressive goal? What are some lessons you learnt while trading options? I'm mainly doing index options on the SPX, FTSE100, CAC40, DAX, STOXX and also on Oil (WTI).
You opened a brokerage account with 13k a year ago and havent contributed since? See if you can put at least 1k into the account at the end of each month. Also you are pretty heavy on the US tech stocks, try diversifying more, even a total market index would work, even though a lot of that would still go to amzn ms etc.
Also plz tell me this is in a tax advantaged account
>>1793748
still there holmes?
>>1793947
I'm well diversified, thanks. US tech is ~ 25% of my portfolio, which I'm comfortable with. US is around 60%, MS
is morgan stanley, not Microsoft. I have 15% Europe, and 20% EM exposure as well. This is not far from weights of MSCI all country index. Index Investing is good if your aim is wealth protection. I have little interest in it at the moment as my target is more aggressive and is riskier, and any kind of index investing is pretty stupid actually in this situation.
I was asking about options trading, and if anyone has targeted such aggressive returns as doubling wealth in 6 months.
This is not tax advantaged, and i will pay 25% tax on capital gains, there is no way out of it.
I was going through my Grandfather's stuff after he passed away. And he was on the move a lot, Traveling around the world. And i found this in his personal belongings. And my question is. What kind of currency is that? And if you know. How much is it worth? Please help
Seems like Thai to me.

Savings accounts are one thing but I'm wondering if any of you have any ideas of things I can purchase that will generate income for me. Preferably tax free income. Is there any way I can invest small amounts into local businesses for little percentages of their sales or any of that shit?

I am looking at potentially buying a very lucrative property from a family member for around 150,000 would it be worth it to take out a loan as a >25 y/o individual and take out a loan and buy it to rent out? You think renters will like having cars parked on their lawn?
I live in Scotland where everyone who wants a free degree can have one. I wasted my free degree on a fucking stupid subject and as a result I now work in a gay job with limited prospects.
I want to start over and get another bachelors degree (which I will have to pay for myself this time).
I want to do something in engineering, but not sure what. Thinking either Mechanical or Electrical. Can anyone give me any advice on this? I'm open to ideas.

Is there money in Biotechnology/Genetic engineering?
Hear me out; Just imagine creating a slave race of freaks or an army of Frankensteins. Or along the lines of making a human immune to the radiation of space allowing them to mine resources in space. Or simple menial consumer shit where some guy wants to give himself viper eyes or some girl wants to Bio-luminescent. Hell even a zoo for completely new species created.
Is there money in it? Even though majority of the population probably would disagree with it, could we have something in it?
In /v/ terms, umbrella corporation resident evil and what not. Or in Jurassic park terms; playing god.
dont do it op if you want money do something else

you will be making crop seeds that produce infertile crops with superior yield and resistance.
you will only touch a mammal when you feed it to some mice.
You should try /sci/ before thinking about making money. Genetic engineering is not that simple and you can't just "give yourself viper eyes". That's not how it works, and investing in things without even knowing how it works is extremely dangerous.
There was a thread about biotechnology, and the general consensus is that we won't have organic slaves because you have to grow them during years, feed them, train them (think about dogs) to do basic shit. A robot is way more simple to build and can be programmed at will : once you have the required configurations for your task, you can copy the program on thousands of robots. You can't do that with organic beings.
Google trends and Google adwards or Alexa, websites colleting the keywords/search words informations..
How does this work? Can an individual do the same thing?
>>1793557

There are hundreds of seo tools and search engines that do that.
They just have bots that crawl the web and save every link.

How can an individual use search engine and deal with big data from the wide web forum?
Can you explain little bit more specificly?
Does Adsense only offer ads that pay you per click? Or can you get paid per impression.
Seems like nobody would ever click on ads.
Also how much can I make. I have a website getting about 10,000 views per week.
I heard that the average of Adsense is about $1 per 1,000 views is that correct?
If not how many $ per 1,000 views?
Bump. Anyone?
Pay per impression is usually less profitable than per click. And I dont think adsense offers it.
And depending on your niche, your audience location, your ad placement and so on you can earn anything from 0 to 30 dollars per 1000 views. But I guess for a good site it can be 8 dollars.
A regular site probably has 1% or 2% clicking, so you have 15 clicks. Each click worth 20 cents for example. Then you have 3 dollars.
>>1793588
Really? I thought pay per impression would be way better. I can't see anyone clicking on ads, even 1% seems too high lol
How do I sell something on ebay and not get scammed?
I have never sold anything on ebay but heard stories were people claim they received empty box and ebay took money from the seller and such.
I have an item to sell (500€) but dont want to get screwed by some smartass.
Pic unrelated
>>1793440
can and does happen
dont sell high value items until you're established so ebay plays well with you when you need them to. in 5 years I've only been successfully scammed twice.
ebay has stepped in and taken care of me multiple times over the years, despite the crybabies you hear saying otherwise all the time.
I assume the more active / "verified to be a good seller" you are, the more they take care of you.
Shipping insurance + signature confirmation is enough protection to save you from most possible issues. They can't claim they didn't get the item (signature) and if they say its damaged you can point them at insurance and insist they need to open claims - then if they demand to refund and pull a switch *you* should be able to open insurance for your now broken item (since it *MUST* have been damaged to shipping since this buyers being honest wink wink). Not sure but i'd imagine if you had those two things ebay will also stand up for you at that point as well
besides that you can take lots of alt precautions when selling high end items (video of item and its functionality/condition, video of packaging / handing off to post man, security labels, etc)
if the items valuable enough to warrant those types of things then you should do them every time
beyond that, a good tactic i learned from a fellow ebayer some time back and have since used successfully:
"I'm sorry to hear your purchase has been stolen/damaged, we will gladly take the item back to resolve the issue immidiately for you. Please package the item and send it to us exactly as it is now, we will need to ship it to our damage loss and fraud center to open investigation as to what happened in order to determin the origin of the issue and take legal action against parties involved if necessary, as mail fraud is a federal offense. Insert more formal blah blah here"
scammer was originally raising hell immediately, never heard from him again after that response
>>1793440
only accept wire transfer
meet in person, sell locally
PayPal usually sides with the buyer just avoid that
>>1793517
>PayPal usually sides with the buyer just avoid that
this is a common misconception for ebay/pp
correct statement:
ebay/paypal usually agrees to let the buyer get a refund and return the item in question
if you add tracking then the only alternative option a scammer has is to do a switcharoo or send emptybox/brick, recording opening of the package + making sure when you sell it you have defining characteristics pointed out in pictures to have an argument if a switcharoo is pulled
Hello everyone. I'm a reseller on ebay and I've been doing well for myself so far. I'm realizing now that buying stuff that sells for less than 10 bucks on ebay isn't going to be ideal in the long run even if I sell them in volume because the profit margins I'm getting isn't worth my time and preparation. I'm kinda at a loss here. So I'm going to start buying and flipping items that cost 15 dollars or more.
The real question is what's the most I should spend on an item that sells for 15 dollars or more on ebay? Take under consideration that if I sell this item on ebay I have to minus the ebay fees which is 10%, the paypal fees which is 2.9% + $0.30, and the shipping fees which I'm shipping first class so it's $2.77. I made an excel sheet just so it makes a little sense.
What I sell isn't really important since this applies to all items, but I'll tell you one thing, it's not clothes. Thank you for your time.
>>1793401
Rule of thumb: Do not buy an item unless you can sell it for 3x what you paid for it.
Example: Item sells for $15, do not pay more than $5
This rule applies for items which can be send first class. Heavier items require a better cost:sale price ratio as shipping items Priority is much more expensive.
t. 6,000 feedback reseller
first off this is a retarded question you should be able to figure out on your own since its based on your own habits, goals, comforts, and capabilities.
>>1793414
this is a bad rule to follow for startups, small, and even medium operations
typically I'm willing to buy in to anything yielding 10% return if its under 100usd
there is no real, hard cap or rule for investment allowance based on value. It's more about "do I have enough open bankroll to work with?" and "how fast can I move it" (single items) or "How long until I break even" (qty items) that makes me decide what I'm willing to put in.
If I have 1k that I'm okay with tying up (no other inventory options or uses for it at the moment) I'll happily buy something thatll turn a 100 dollar profit in a month, or if I will break even when I sell a small portion of them then I'm all game
I'm willing to spend 10 bucks for a 50 cent profit if the workload is nothing more than "throw it in a box and print the label" as long as it moves fast
I typically come out with a 50% profit margin or better on the high note, 10% on the low. Sometimes I make a buck, other times I make a few hundred bucks. A few gem transactions have yielded thousands.
I'm not prejudice when it comes to money
Protip: Its easier to make a profit and ship 1 x $100 item than it is to make a profit and ship 10 x $10 items
I'm a dropshipper and deal mainly in clothes. so my statement above means fuck all to me because I can't sell, lets say a hat for $100 but I can sell it a few times at $10... but its something to kind in mind down the line
