How do they juggle so many different responsibilities at work and still manage to have a social life, relationship, divorce(s), run marathons for charity, be a board member of an NGO, organise elaborate dinner parties, host specialist conferences and be a part-time angel investor?

Is Finance really the way to get money? I will try to get an overseas security contract job, but I doubt they are hiring non special operations people, its not a free-for-all like it used to be.

A friend of mine I trained with (he is National Guard) was in IB and he said the work-life balance sucked and if he can do it all over again he would do Quantitative Analysis so he could learn to invest better and also have a life.

I'm basically a "broke college student". I currently work two jobs, but both are part-time campus jobs which pull in less than $500 a month. I don't really spend much since I have a ton of scholarships, so living on campus and taking classes aren't really big expenditures (yet). I plan on going straight to grad school after this, and I've been told that most people in my degree are basically paid to go to grad school so I shouldn't worry too much about that cost. I have relatively low student debt, and most of it is interest free until I stop going to college (i.e. after grad school). My parents planned very well for my financial future, and I want to get a head start on the parts they won't be able to help me out with.

Say I make $400 a month after I take out the cost of meals I eat outside the college meal plan and other small items I buy. I've been watching my accounts and this is pretty much correct for most months since one of my jobs allows me to get extra hours throughout each month.

How do I invest with this income? Penny stocks seem way to risky, but many stable stocks have a high unit price. Would it be better to invest alone or should I consider finding a broker? I have lots of time on my hands, so I could probably manage a simple personal portfolio if I knew more about how trading works. What are some good resources for learning the "modern" stock market? What about mutual funds? If I can get a few friends to pool our money and invest together, is that a viable/healthy option? If you could do it all (investing) over again, how would you set up your first portfolio?

My future career options all pay decently, and there are lots of options even if I don't get a graduate degree. I have been putting money in a savings account regularly for the past couple of years, so I have some capital to start, but it's still very small (<$2,000).

I apologize if this is a common post here on /biz/, I don't frequent this board.

I've had three moderately successful people (200k+ salaries from managerial positions) tell me that I can put my ranking in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu on a resume. This is for entry level positions graduating from college.

It baffles me. Can somebody explain what they meant by this (or what they may have meant by this)? What am I meant to display when I try to start my career? What they would tell me was along the lines of displaying personality traits that make me look like a good person. It wasn't specifically about being a good worker, but as an all-around person. Why might putting martial arts experience be a benefit for a resume for an entry level position?

So I got an interview for a bank recently and I did pretty well and a few days later (this last Friday that passed) I got a call from a recruiter who asked me what I wanted as my salary and I told her she said okay and that she has to talk to her manager and then give me a call back either "today or tomorrow" (referring to Friday or Saturday). No call Friday. Waited til 2 pm Saturday and still no call so I decided to call the recruiter back and follow up on the call. No answer from their end. So I called the branch manager and she told me that I shouldn't expect a call Saturday because the recruiting office is closed but for me to wait until Monday and if I still do not get a call then to contact her. So what does this all mean? Did I get the job? Is she trying to get me hired?
