I did it guys. I bought an Opinel No. 8, thanks to all the sc/out/s who recommended it. I'm gonna test it out this weekend up in the mountains.
Also, knife thread.

I want to camp on a semi remote beach, with warm air and water, and go fishing all day and eat the fish. I wanna do this right now, I'm in America and can travel anywhere that would meet this description. Any ideas desu senapais?

When I was stationed in Puerto Rico, my wife and I took a small boat out to an island where we were alone. we had sex on the beach a few times, I fished for our dinner and we slept on the beach. Sleeping on the beach was overrated, instead of a tent, we took a blanket to sleep on, and there were crabs on the beach and they woke us up a few times. But the being naked on the beach and having sex on the open beach was great. Probably more for the novelty of it than anything else.

Gotta get on dat Gulfstream if you want warm water.
Get a kayak and find a little island in the Keys.
How is the outdoor life in Phoenix, AZ?
>>927886
This time of year is Prime Time of year!
For almost twenty years I lived all over central Arizona in Phoenix, Tempe, Scottsdale, Mesa, Glendale and Peoria. And I fucking hated it.
Winter is actually really nice there but the rest of the year, to me at least, is Hell. But then again I love the cold and despise the heat so Arizona just isn't the best place for a guy like me. YMMV.
One good thing about AZ is the gun laws are really lax and you can also just drive a little bit into the desert in any direction outside of town, set up some targets, and just shoot shit. No need to fuck around at a shooting range.
If I see Pronghorn on the way home tonight, I will stop for pic.
So pretty good /out/.
Is this the place for innawoods threads, i honestly dont know anymore
>>927603
I'd sure like to know the answer, anon. There's never an innawoods thread on /out/ or /k/. Not like there used to be anyway.
>>927603
It's the place to post ded invaisives. /an/ works for that too.

So /out/, how do you catch a catfish? didn't wanna interrupt the already lengthy fishing thread.. let's make this a catfishing general. I'm a Floridafag if that helps.. though I imagine catching catfish works the same everywhere, so chime in!
>>927249
How would this interrupt the fishing general? A question like this is perfect for that thread.
You can check up on some videos on catfishing, even look up videos specific to florida.
All I know is that catfish love scent and there's a bunch of options out there for bait. Flathead catfish however prefer live bait.
>>927249
Chicken livers. Hot dog chunks that were left out for a few hours. Cat fish pellets. Pretty much anything smelly. Dead drift those baits on the botom and wait for a strike. The big hogs love to just sit on the bottom.
Catfish are shit teir fish. Easy as fuck to catch and greasy as balls
Hey /out/, post pics of ur outdoor doggos
pic related, do blue heelers make good /out/ pets? I've heard they're pretty agressive.
>>924507
From my experiences, they can be a tad neurotic. Otherwise a solid choice.

Would (planning) on getting another of the best breed of doggo. They live long if taken care of (had mine from age 7 to 23 before she passed). Smart and easily trainable.
They do require attention and a area to roam however. Ours made a habit of breaking out of our yard nightly and going for walks around the neighborhood if she didn't get in her 3 mile minimum walk.

Got mine at 5 weeks, put her down at 15 years.
Would not consider another breed.
"Neurotic" is not correct.
A box of dynamite sitting on top of a jet fuel tanker truck, parked in a forest fire is closer to the truth.
Trained her to jump inna muh arms at a hand clap.
God I miss her!
any /out/ists in this area?
who wants to become the legend of the Julian Alps?
>you'll never form an international expedition and wander around the comfiest Alps in an epic journey to become a real man.
I will actually be doing ethnographic fieldwork south of Ferlach as part of a research group in a few weeks. Will definitely be comfy.

Serious question: Does anyone have resources/information for a novice that does not boil down to "lelsilentfeet, git gud scrub"?
HOW do I git gud? Downclimb everything? Where the fuck do I find slabs?
>>873043
Climbing outside will make you a lot better. Also use more controlled movements rather than moving erratically. Downclimbing as well as silent feet are both great practice for this
>>873043
Get out and climb. Go to a wall and take a few lessons so you are doing everything right from the start and dont have to unlearn any bad habits. Begin with bouldering, all you need is shoes and a chalkbag and chalkball. Bouldering will teach you a lot of advanced climbing techniques in a relatively short time, then if you want to, move forwrad into sport climbing.
>>873043
If you're really serious about learning the fundamentals of technique and movement in rock climbing, buy The Self Coached Climber by Doug Hunter.
Reminder that it is too cold for waterparks right now so please don't make plans to go to one. They may not even be open.
I don't believe you

boater hat
>>931721
Do you really? Interesting to see, I like when people show individualism with their hats in the outdoors.
>>931735
Naw I was just joking, only time I ever wore a boater regularly was in runescape.

>>930682
Simple. You don't invade their territory and be smart when /out/. Don't be autistic and just stay away from obvious bear territory. Most the time they are more afraid of you. Keep your rifle close by though.
>>930682
Black bears are teddies. Its the Griz you gotta look out for.

is ded bird pretty much the best /out/ clothing brand?
so long as you aren't a poorfag
Yes. Most professional mountain guides I've met in the US wear more Patagonia though, probably because it's more affordable. The brand I've never seen them wear is North Face.
>>930420
Probably sharing the place with Fjallraven and a few others.
Black Diamond makes better light-tier jackets. BDV is a god tier soft shell.
Are leather + goretex boots like pic related suitable for snowshoeing in very cold conditions?
I'm in Finland for the winter and have so far been fine with "Normal" shoes in the city. I've got 5 days coming up in Lapland where it's currently -10°C (14°F) with lows of -25°C (-13°F) fairly common. I'll be staying in a lodge but snowshoeing during the days.
I'm due for a new pair of leather hiking boots anyway (for Australia) and hoping I can get away with something like pic related - Scarpa Ranger 2 GTX. No thermal lining.
Hahahaha, you will lose your feet. For sure.
Your lodge just might provide you with some decent shoes. I am in Stockholm and got cold feet walking in the city wearing some Meindls that are made for cold. The dude in the shop actually warned me about how warm they were.
>>930348
Go to local store that offers service in English. Ask the employee what he thinks you should get for your situation. Good outdoor store has experienced personnel that can serve you better than /out/ists that only go out when their internet service is down.
>>930348
You'll be fine. Just get some quality wool socks. I hiked up a mountain in the snow/ice yesterday in Alaska, 10*F at the base, in leather/gortex UA boots. My feet were never even close to being cold and cold feet are always a problem for me. As long as you are going to be on the move and not staying static for excessively long periods, you'll be fine.
