How can North Americans enjoy the wilderness when these beasts roam the continent so freely?

>the strength of a bear
>how can men even compete?
>>930682
Simple. You don't invade their territory and be smart when /out/. Don't be autistic and just stay away from obvious bear territory. Most the time they are more afraid of you. Keep your rifle close by though.
>>930682
Black bears are teddies. Its the Griz you gotta look out for.
>>930697
This
Harsh language and small stones will keep black bears away from your pic-a-nic basket
>>930701
You really have no idea how vicious these creatures are.
Here's a few pictures of a black bear slaughtering a herd of cows.
>>930705
Watch as these defenseless cows get torn up by the BEAST. Numbers matter not against the carnivore.
>>930706
The bear eyes the strongest of the herd.
>>930707
Looks like the cow got a lucky hit. However, these herbivores lack canines and can not inflict injury to the bear.
>>930708
This is the most bait shit ever. Go make a fucking fishing thread

This makes me sad. They're just giant raccoons who don't bother anybody. Deforestation effects them more then most animals

Is this the beginning of BLACKED spam on /out/?
>>930682
they are just big unruly doggos some stern talking does the trick or a good kick if they are playing deaf.
>>930789
you realize it will take multiple shots from that handgun to down a charging bear, son?
>>930894
You realize my handgun holds multiple shots, son?
>>930898
>it takes 3-4 on target to stop a charging bear apparently. Fire high from the recoil a few times or in panic, and you're fucked. Also I bet you're shit at distance firing
>handguns

lmao yanks sling a rifle

>charging bear
kek
that's rare like a hard working nigger tho
>>930902
You miss with the handgun you pull out the blade and do it like a man
>>930682
>Do you North Americans fear black bears?
No. Every time I've seen one in the wild. It has turned tail and ran the other direction.
>31 mph
>551 pounds
>6.5 feet tall
nigger we use American measurements around here
>>930682
No, but I do fear black men
>>930682
Generally black bears are scared of you. Just put some bass in your voice and don't back down. You're fine.
Grizzlys on the other hand..
I've yet to encounter one. I've seen a wolf and lots of moose but never a black bear.
My bear hang must be too good
>>930902
>assuming
You are really bad at that. You should stop.
>>930682
Black bears are omnivores but the vast majority of their diet is plants, to a lesser degree insects. They rarely go after other animals, especially humans. They're lazy and get scared easily
>>930682
You forgot
>Runs away at warp speed whenever it hears someone coming

People always tell me I shouldn't climb up a tree if a bear chases me cuz bears can climb trees but has this really been tested? If he climbs up to get me I can just climb down the other side of tree, if he goes down I go up.
>>930789
>carries a revolver
>says he isn't fearful

stairway to seven, faggot
>>930987
You can't honesty believe you are a better, faster climber than fucking bear.
>>931001
But bear can't reach me when I'm on the other side of the tree.
>>931013
>but I'm 9
>>930989
>have the right
>makes perfect sense
> You can't honesty believe you are a better, faster climber than fucking bear.
Not the guy you're responding to but I sure as fuck can. Go on YouTube and there's hundreds of videos of bears climbing trees, they can't climb for shit!! I could easily climb better than a bear.
>Why do North Americans fear black bears
Maybe fucking city slickers
>>931061
Black people freak the fuck out over bears.
>>930894
it doesnt, with black bears atleast
where i work we get them quite often
ive been charged as has my coworker and i together
both times we wacked bear with a rake/shovel/whatever we had andyelled loudly and bear just stopped and said " well alright im not going to fuck with these guys anymore"
theyre giant pussys
throwing stuff and yelling usually works too
one time we had one that was following visitors so coworker blasted near it with a crackershell and ive never seen a bear run faster
You should not fear bears, just respect them.
>>930682
>don't keep food in your tent
>don't camp in places frequented by those who do
>slowly back away if you see one on the trail
This solves the problem almost all of the time. If you're really worried about the very rare instances where you do this and are still in danger, bring some bear spray or a large-caliber gun.
>>930938
They're not men. And I wouldn't say fear, more like I have an awareness.
>>931090
Bears are basically big dog raccoons. Everyone knows that dogs are the mortal enemy of the African.
I would like to hunt and eat a bear, must be good.
My Canadian friends should recognize this. Maybe not the average American sc/out/ because they're illegal in the US.
nah lol, theyre like big dogs. Theyll walk up to your car and lick your windows. Pretty cute
>>930682
they're oversized raccoons. I'm sure someone has already said this, but I'm not gonna even bother reading the thread to find out.
>>931279
Rape whistle?
Me and my cousin saw one while camping/ hiking and pulled out a knife and machete and it just ran away. I guess it knew who it was fucking with.
Not my first choice of meat, as it seems a little greasy and a bit gamey. However, it is very eatable.
As far as black bear attacks on humans. Most of those bear's were eight sick or very old. It is the very rare blackie that will just attack a human for food. Getting between a sow and her cubs puts you in the most danger.
Black bears can climb. It doesn't matter how fast you climb, as you can only go so far. Bear is not going to climb after you, but if it did, you wouldn't get away.

I'm a lot more likely to be seriously injured or killed in a car or boating accident than a bear attack. Hell, I'm more likely to be maimed while feeding or tending to my friend's cows or horses while he's out of town than a stray black bear.... You gotta put things into perspective. I am pretty worried about picking up a bad case of the Lyme someday though, I know a couple of people who are living with chronic Lyme Disease and it seems terrible.
>>931090
ok ok desmund, we get it.
>>930682
I live in a area with black and Brown bears, wolves, cougars and moose. Bear is nothing all that special, though they might be strong af, they tend to leave you alone. If they don't want to, proper shot placement with a rifle will take care of the problem. Just make sure you practice with your gun, so you can do quick follow up shots if needed.
12 Guage pump loaded with brenneke slugs can make really quick work of full grown grizzly at close range (Check the round out, shit hits hard and doesn't frag up as much, so it just penetrate and obliterates it targets. Shattering bones and destroying organs with ease)
Lever action loaded with some Marlin .450 works really great for longer range and up close. The round is pretty much a +P of a .45-70, so it can easily handle a bear. A lot of guides up here in Alaska use it too for their main bear round. Usually followed by some thing in 10mm, .44 or .357. Which all handguns ppl have hunted and kill bear with.
Oh well, just my two cents from my experience hunting bears over the yrs. If any thing, be more afraid of Moose during mating season...shit is scary.
