Hi, New to posting on 4chan, Basically I'm looking for a workaround on the condesation gathering in my bivy in humid clear nights. I've tried opening a larger gap for airflow, pinning up the bag so its not touching the sleeping bag via pipes. Also tried a facemask to reduce hot air from mouth.
What else can i do?? sorry if this is long, i just like being in a bivy but hate damp
what bivy are you using?

I've never been a huge fan of this waterproof ones as I find they don't have alot of breath ability. Are you wearing dry clothes when you go into the bivy? sweat/water in your clothing can make a big difference. Also makin sure you are sleeping in good clothes that have their own vapor barriers are helpful. I read somewhere the human body will put out 500ml-1l of condensation when sleeping. If your bivy pegs down having it good and taught will help it not pool up in undesirable areas. Pretty much the most condensation I get is in the foot area
I'm interested in adding some outdoor activities like hiking or mountain biking to my exercise regiment.
I work out at the gym several times a week doing cardio and weight lifting, but find myself lethargic and lazy otherwise.
What are some good outdoor activities I can add to evenings after work or on Saturday and Sundays?
FYI, I'm hesitant to jump fully into something that requires purchasing expensive gear off the bat. I can afford it but don't want to do so before deciding a new activity is something I actually enjoy.
I welcome any advice, personal stories, and/or recommendations on how to get started in taking on a new outdoor activity.
Depends on where you live and how close the mountains are, but day hikes are free. Take your backpack and gym water bottle, multitool if you have one and you are all set.
I live in Austin, so finding hiking trails shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for response!
>foot-wide gap in your bug netting
What cheap, waterproof rucksack do you recommend that's about 50-70L(ideally 50 that can expand to 70), What brands should I look for on ebay?
I bought one of those marine LGBT packs. It came with a dry bag and I believe it's 70 liters. The thing is awesome and carries lots of stuff but I hate that it's camo.
>>922549
Who is this semen demon?
>>922564
>marine LGBT
I always knew they were closet fags. when your culture is based on cheering other dudes on for pullups you gotta wonder.
Hey /out/, I am planning a trip to camp and hike through canadian provincial and national parks this summer. Which parks are a must hit? Which parks are mediocre? I was planning on starting out in Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario.

Alberta and BC. You can drive an hour or two and be in a completely different zone with different landscapes and scenery. I wouldn't bother with anything past Alberta. You need to travel long distances to hit everything on the east coast.
Can you see the stars where you live, /out/?
not very well.
outside the city tho, yes

I live in Australia and I don't know anyone who is into the outdoors.
I have this urge to go into the bush and camp but I don't know too much about it.
Should I just walk into the shallow bushes, set up camp, and learn as I go?
(I live in south-east queensland for any other aussies)
Got a car?

Why do you not own a chinese military shovel yet?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b60OZhrTB6o
Because it's shit?

>And...
Because I'm not a chinko conscript slave.

There's needs to be a video like this, but using a bucket instead of a shovel. You can do a lot of things with a bucket. Imagine is 200 years of military technology and innovation went into designing a bucket instead of a shovel.
Is it possible to hike from the lower 48 to Alaska?
I've been wondering for a long time but never talked to anyone about it.
>>920020
Why the fuck would it not be possible?
What do you expect? Some invisible wall you can't protrude like in a computer game
>>920020
You'd have to take a boat or go through Canada. If you go through Canada you're going to want a hunting licence if you're bringing a gun because we don't let armed foreign nationals in for no reason even if they are from our most valued ally. If you're nogunz you won't have any bureaucratic issues. either way hiking through Northern BC/Alaska is going to be rough and I'd recommend going north to south if you want to do it all in one shot because winter is going to be a problem if you're hiking up from the south given how much distance you'll have to cover.
>>920024
Impassable forest or mountains or rivers or some other shit that is extremely hard to hike over?
Hammocks. Talk about then. Post your set up, ask questions, debate which underquilt is best.
This isn't about hammocks vs tents. This is a happy hammock thread.
I do the DD ¥ungle hammock myself. I also Have a small side-hammock I use as a bench and for storage. It's the best. I'm moving overseas in 3 weeks and won't be taking it with me though ;_;
I have a Hennesy Hammock.

Really wanted the Scarpa Kinesis Pro GTX. But wifey got these instead. Never heard of them. Are they any good, /out/?
Pretty happy with the stove though.
Have you guys ever come across an /out/ girl? I can't even find a single girl who actually really likes hiking or hunting. All of them are "I love nature I'm quirky xDD" until you actually take them outdoors with you. I want a real /out/ gf, brehs.

I'm still a young un', so I was recently involved in something called "venture crew." It's like boy scouts, but coed and aged 14-21 instead of 10-18. There's a surprising number of girls in most crews, sometimes as much as 50% or more. Most of them cute, and fit. You just gotta know where to look.
>>915848
Out girls exist, although they are all much sluttier than girls that enjoy different things.
Usually the types of girls that assume that all men are sluts too and they are incredibly liberal.
The only ones that are conservative and not slutty are also the ones who won't look at you if you aren't bursting with money or have a huge truck and house with a great job.
>>915868
> and they are incredibly liberal.
But that's a good thing.
>the ones who won't look at you if you aren't bursting with money or have a huge truck and house with a great job.
I hate to be the one to tell you this but they're sluts too. They just lie about it.
What's your opinion /out/?
>canvas or nylon
> zippers or buttons/buckles
>why
>>915716
What pack is that?
>>915716
Nylon/zippers.
Lightweight, useable, and hard wearing.
Had this backpack for about 15 years now, still perfect. Goes on every hiking, camping or just out of town trip since then. Still perfect and the perfect size
I see the last one got archived and I need hunter help! You guys down to continue discourse?

OP here. Wondered if the taxidermist I was talking to in the last thread could tell just from my photo; day and half through the pickle, does his face look a mess or does it seem fleshed enough? Thanks in advance!
>>912946
Wtf is that
>>913485
It's disgusting, of course. I would think that is obvious.
