I got a question about innawoods gear. Im building my first bag, and its still inconplete but I wanna hear some feed back.
What I got, excluding bag
>plastic tarp big enough to cover one small shelter or use for 2-3 people as a ground pad
>sleeping bag for cold weather that can double as a pad because its fluffy (comes with stuff sack)
>mess kit
>first aid kit
>crowbat
>hatchet
>small shovel
>flashlight
>32oz water bottle and filter straw
>4 glowsticks
>roll of duct tape
>4 bandanas
>military surplus helmet (you never know)
What I plan to get
>lighter, matches, and flint/steel
>canned (or freezedried) food for 2-3 days
>paracord (at least 100ft.)
>2 hunting knives (1 as a backup)
>gasmask
>extra batteries
I feel like im missing some things between the two lists. Pic related is my bag.
>all dat bait
shitstorm incoming
hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
thanks for a moments joy, because that set up is total and utter pish.

Its my first time, tell me why?
can we have a rope/knot thread? i dont know about you guys but fucking love how much you can utilize a piece of rope with just a few good knots in your arsenal.
cordage general?
>>1034266
ahh, the symmetry
any knot requests? pic related is a "water bowline", less likely to jerk loose than a regular bowline
and now i wait for the what i can only assume are thousands of other /out/ knot-lovers to flood this thread
Found this stuff on the street. Any idea what they are worth? I'm new to this hobby and saw these and figured I should grab them. Do they look in okay condition ?
They seem pretty scratched up but I think they will work?
Those are ancient skinny skis. Drop them off at goodwill.
Even last year's models with 15 days of skiing on them will go for half price.

what do y'all think of this new board yak?
It's predicted to be the next hot trend in kayaking. you can paddle it like a sup or sit down paddle like a yak. lots of options for mounts.

i remember my cat wore these while having laser therapy
What are your thoughts on these boots or 5.11 footwear in general?
Pic is 5.11 8" Taclite Duty Boots
quite expensive for something meant to be dragged on the ground in mud and all kind of yucky shit
>>1032323
These boots were actually made for dry, arid places. They're also not that expensive. I could get them for $100 which is just $20 than casual sneakers at the mall
Cheaply made
Buy real boots
Do you use garden scissors when /out/ ?
>good for self-defense
>especially when aiming for the eyes
>useful for cutting
>compact
why is it blushing
>>1031833
I honestly don't have an idea why
I cut secret trails with them. In this webm I'm hiking the normal trail through the bush then you can see the gravel trail continue on. But I turn and walk into the bush and on to a trail I made that goes elsewhere. So far nobody has found it.
Honnold is a fucking machine. Not the best climber overall, but no one matches him in free-soloing. I've been climbing for two years and never get sweaty palms when I go, but every time I see a pic of Alex free soling I go clammy as fuck.
>>1030188
Somebody finally did it. Wow.
>even using mechanical winches to hoist themselves up, the two had struggled to keep up with him.
Honnold is a freak. I am a half decent free climber, though I mostly hangdog. Anyway I was climbing Mt Baldy at the same time as Honnold and it is amazing how effortlessly he goes up.
So how many of you have actually done it? Got any advice? Any pics? Stories?
I should make clear that I'm asking because I too am leaving soon to begin the walk. Just curious about people's experiences
Where are you going OP? Looks interesting

Dont forget to wear a chastity belt so that the rape gangs can only rape your mouth
Show me your /out/ing companion. He may not look like much but my 8 years old 40 lb dog is great at hiking. Although we do take more breaks then we did then when he was 3-4.

thicc
you wouldn't expect it from a cat but this little duffer follows me everywhere like a dog. whenever i head-out in the woods for a walk or a campout she comes along and keeps an eye on things. there are a few spots in the back acres where she'll get bogged down in the ferns or brambles so i'll carry her through, but sometimes she finds logs and trees to climb over to get through and keep up with me. sometimes she'll fall behind or run off somewhere trying to catch a chipmunk or something, but eventually she'll come running through the scrub like a bolt of lightning and catch back up with me.

does she kill or just chase?
So I have this idea for a thread where clueless people can ask for advice about gear in a single place and for people to discuss which things are best for which situations and which goals.
Since we all have different goals and we are going to different environments, then it'd be good to specify where are you going, what are you worried about, and if there are better alternatives for what might seem standard stuff (eg tent vs tarp, sleeping bag vs quilt, etc).
>>1018210
Good idea. You are truly a visionary
I'm going camping in the PNW sometime in the summer, I expect to be rained out for at least 2 of the 5 days we are there (Cape Scott). Anyone have advice on tarp shelters? I'm bringing along 2 tarps (12x10 and a smaller one) and I figured I could use the smaller as a ground floor and possibly forgo a tent all together. My main concerns are that some sites will involve me setting up shelter on sand and beach and I'd have to deal with wind and possibly horizontal rain. Moreover, having never camped out in bear, cougar and wolf country I'm kind of spooked by the idea of them coming by at night out of curiosity and maybe trying to eat me because of the opening at the front

i'm going /out/, what do i need?
A Taiwanese hiker was rescued in the Himalayas after spending seven weeks lost. His partner was kill three days before rescue. A major snowstorm hit while they were on a trail and they made the smart and wise decision not to turn back or set up camp until it passes, but rather chug on. Once the blizzard passed and they realized they were thoroughly fucked they lived off of salt and water.

Inb4 ate his GF to survive but it's Asia so nobody cared
A good place to die....

look like a case of bad decisions and lack of skills & experience and maybe some gear.
the area doesn't look too bad, but at above 2600m weather will be the main issue.
also i would like to see the precipice they got trapped on after falling down.
I'm building a personal collection of Infographics to circulate within a small group of like-minded friends who are interested in getting started with self-sufficiency. I'll post some examples I have found but I'm looking for as much information as possible that is relatively easy to understand. My friends aren't exactly the brightest crayons in the box. ;)
I'm going with my family to Europe in just two weeks and I want to stay longer. The problem is I don't know where I want to go. I want to see some culture but I also want to do some camping/hiking which is why I'm asking /out/ instead of /trv/.
So... where in Europe is the best hiking camping, or just general ideas? So far Switzerland/Italy/Slovenia looks cool.
Anyone have experience backpacking (/out/) style while there? Is there anything special I have to do. Also anyone know if I can fly with my whisperlite?
>>1027897
Rules regarding whether you can camp freely or in specified and often overbooked/expensive/shitty campsites will vary country by country so check that out.
Personally never been to slovenia but triglav national park looks fucking beautiful, as for switzerland i can confirm its bloody amazing but wild camping isn't allowed though like in many places if you're discreet you can get away with it.
Culture you'll find almost anywhere desu, my personal favorites (besides switzerland) for /out/ are Norway and Sweden as wild camping is allowed and they're pretty scenic, romania, italy, spain, montengro are all really neat countries too
(Pic is interlaken in switzerland)
>>1027897
Northern Spain is pretty good, or unique at least. England is god tier in the summer, since you can just stroll down to the pub. North Italy is good as long as you can find a space in a campsite. The Polish forests are supposed to be out of this world, though I've never tried it myself. I'm thinking of camping in the German Black Forest this summer.
Don't do Russia. Mosquitoes.
>>1027897
Both Norway and Sweeden is very accessible for /out/ stuf with basically any sports store having maps and out-gear and a load of markes trails and parks all over the countries. Also legal wild-camping anywhere. Biggest con is that both Sweeden and Norway are quite expensive - especially Norway.
Where in Europe are you staying?
Daily reminder that this is what an /out/ poster actually looks like.

Wow what a fucking surprise
If I owned a company that attracted these kinds of YouTube faggots I think I would have a department dedicated to finding these cunts and giving them awful customer service if or when they called in with the products that they forced a fail on.
