pile on my floor. tent outer, water proofs etc hanging off a line made out of a guy rope and my quilt just kicks about on my bed.
I keep it in my closet. It's safe in the closet :\
Why do you have a suitcase shaped like a cock

reposting
Hey /out/, mars/hm/allow here.
I just revived a loquat tree from a friend. Any tips for how to grow it so that it can be as tall as it can be and produce fruit by next year. Are they hard to grow, any tips? I'm in South England, near Hampshire if you're wondering about climate
When it comes to load, how much is too much?
>>1028626
Use a game cart. In fact, put all your gear on it, not just your extra shit. Free yourself up.
>>1028633
>car camper detected.
Personally over 30lb starts to get uncomfortable. I usually aim for 20lb plus camera gear, but it obviously varies per.season
>>1028643
Those carts are rated at 500lbs and 750lbs depending on model. The massive diameter tires allow you to haul a full load through all manner of terrain for miles and miles without problem. That's specifically why hunters use them.
If you think car camping is hiking 10-15 miles from where you parked your car then yes, I car camp all the time.
Should I get a Estwing or a Fiskars hatchet?
Which one will last me the longest?
>>1028267
Of the two the Estwing is the better choice for durability, I have the longer camp axe with the rubberized blue handle, it will not fall apart like the stacked leather will.
If i had to do it over again, I'd get the kershaw camp axe, my friend has one; it's better for splitting wood.
pic related.
>>1028267
Neither. Get a good one instead.

name a good one then
>stories of your first / favorite hunt.
Took my first deer last year at 33. Here's how it went down.
>Hunting Public land with local wildlife biologist buddy.
>Set up behind haybales for cover on field rich in Timothy hay. Watching treeline 100m away.
>First thing in the morning. Unseasonably cold with snow (early Oct).
>Quietly rummaging in my bag for thermos of chicken soup to warm up. Fill a cup, look up. Deer 50yds away.
>Quietly set down steaming cup of goodness, pick up rifle.
>Nice young doe.
>Not shaking but all of a sudden adrenaline is going. Go time. Slowly stand up, rest rifle across the haybale keeping it between deer and I.
>Line up on the boiler room. Breathe in, out. Squeeze. Bang.
>Deer jumps. Two fawns I didn't see run out of the treeline - at me.
>My deer runs fifty yards to the treeline and collapses.
>Fawns run right up to me, squeaking. Weird moment. Then they run back to their mother who just then emerged from the treeline. Sorry I shot your auntie.
>Wait ten minutes. Go to spot where she was standing. Huge blood splatter. And clear trail in the snow. 'track' it to her.
>Perfect shot. Took out the heart and right shoulder. Can't believe she ran that far with no heart, no sternum and no blood.
>Field dress my first deer. Smelled interesting. Weird but good. Natural. Couldn't get over how warm she was or maybe I was just that cold.
>One hour later, grilling her tenderloins smothered in olive oil and Montreal steak spice. Pic related.
>Best meat I've ever tasted.
>Instantly hooked. Spend the rest of the season hoping for a buck. See lots of does but hold off. Get skunked but still a great experience. Shoot six grouse over the next two months. Also delicious.
Can't wait for this fall. Don't care about trophies, just want that delicious venison. So good.

YOU FUCKING MURDERER
Y- YOU SHOT BAMBI!!
>>1028166
>sitting around in a blind
>hunting
Pick one fag because they aren't interchangeable.
And I'm not saying you gotta go out and punch a deer in the head to death or spear it. But sitting around baited fields and jerking your buddy off basically waiting for an EZ kill when you absolutely don't need the food. Is fucking pathetic.
How is it?
I don't have a lot of money but could I possibly get a round trip flight and just stay at a camp site instead of hotel?
I figure it could be pretty nice. Just exploring, and hiking for a couple of weeks.
Could also be pretty cheap considering that hotel is the most expensive thing. I wouldn't need anything besides food and maybe to get into a museum, park, or other.
>>1026431
It's overhyped unless you're born and raised here. Was better before Discovery memed the shit out of it.
Pack some fucking bug spray and a big gun.
Mosquitoes are the state bird. You can camp wherever the hell you want. You don't need a hotel. Watch out for bears and moose, moose especially.
Camp sites are uncommon since you can just sort of walk a mile into the woods. It's pretty much all untamed land, and most places you go probably haven't had human contact in years unless you're following around trails.'
Otherwise, you'll be fine. It gets really hot in the summer. Don't go in the winter. It gets uh... cold.
>>1026534
>Was better before Discovery memed the shit out of it
I agree, there are like 3 current shows about Alaska or located there.
>>1026545
I want to go in the summer, which is when I have some time off. I can handle the heat, I live in South FL. Have dealt with mosquitoes a lot also.
Yea there is a shit load of dangerous animals, I am afraid to get mauled by a grizzly or some shit.
I might have to stick towards trails, getting lost is probably very easy.
Thinking about purchasing an AK-47 soon, so I'll probably be able to handle anything. Only issue might be taking it there, don't know how that would work.
Pretty sure I can OC also.
Thinking about getting scuba certified this summer. Anyone have experience with scuba diving and or tips?
>>1021301
I just did class work and confined water dives (pool dives). Going to finish my certification in mexico in a few days. I'm no authority on diving, but I just wanted to give you a friendly bump and say: do it.
>>1021301
i am also interested in this hobby, but how much does it cost?
sadly with where i live i would need a boat to get to any places worth diving at an i dont have the means to buy one, store it or transport one.
but for future reference yea, about how much could one look at spending in order to get their cert plus equipment?
I work at a scuba shop and have been diving for years. You should for sure do it
I am way to hesitant to purchase honey from a grocery store.
After reading that 70% of the honey products on the shelves are not even REAL Honey..
but a concoction of sugars, syrup and maybe 4% real honey. That's obscense... so if you know of any LEGIT honey product producers post em.. a pic of the product would help.
Oh and fuck off with your burt's bees products... before you even try google image search, fag.
>>1020822
google your states beekeeping association. Their website should have a map of reputable farms where you can buy raw honey
>>1020827
Theres a beekeeper thread already in here.. so thought I might get some pro advice.
can one sleep comfy without a foamie in the woods?
i am perfectly comfortable sleeping on plain ground with only a blanket so i would say yes, however most people do not agree
>>1033705
have you considered hammocks?
As for just on the ground, I can't recommend it - it's been some of the worst sleep every time I've tried.
The cold ground would drain a lot of heat from you unless it's really hot I guess but even during the summer it can be cold during the night
So I'm considering switching to using just a sleeping bag slip and this wool Pendleton blanket instead of my sleeping bag. The coldest it should get where I'm going should be in the low 40's to high 30's. With appropriate long johns and a good wool cap, will I freeze /out/?
Alternatives to sleeping bags general, anything you've used or heard of being used?
>>1031187
Why? That's bulkier, heavier, and more autistic than any sleeping bag.
>>1031190
I've done it before and found the blanket to be more comfortable and basically as warm, didn't smell either after two weeks (unlike my bag). The weight was frustrating though. I'm just curious if anyone else has tried something similar and has any advice
"Hop in anon! It's fresh and still warm!"
Why do all those hiking fags buy all this patagonia and yeti shit to walk on predesignated trails for 2 hours?
Why do all those non hiking fags buy all this patagonia and yeti shit to walk to the store when it is raining?
>>1029657
I KNOW RIGHT?
because they can/want to. Get fucked commie.
First time posting on /out/.
Here's my first 48hour wild camping pack, Give me some feedback?
This does not include anything carried in my own pockets.
pretty neat OP, going to catch or find food as well? or is the tinned food gonna last you?
Anything in particular you're gonna be doing to keep busy during the nights, like a harmonica or something?
>>1029536
Tinned food should last me, no hunting allowed where I'm going.
Harmonica was a spot on guess, a 'peace-pipe' will likely get passed around and also got some old horse shoes to throw.
>>1029530
Assuming you have enough food, and will not have to filter the water you use along the way..
-No sleeping pad, unless you are going to use the wool blanket as a pad, which is questionable
-No shelter (tent, tarp or hammock), so you are sleeping in someone else's tent, or a pre-provided shelter? Cowboy camping is an option if you are confident of the weather. Use groundsheet as shelter if needed? But no stakes...?
-No rain gear
-No dry clothes to sleep in if worn clothes get wet
-Looks like you a planning to cook over a fire. Going to use the knife to process wood?
-Plastic trash bag would be helpful keeping the tins of the tinned food from messing up the rest of your gear when you pack it back out. Have a can opener if needed, but I think you may be using the pull tab kind.
-No hygiene kit: toilet paper, trowel, hand sanitizer, soap, etc.
I dunno, this seems all over the place, but to each his own.
Why do only white people want to leave civilization and comfort and go pretend they are homeless?
I hike a lot and can count the amount of colored people I have seen camping on one hand.
Honestly? I think that the bulk of white people recognize that they're HUMAN and not white at their core. While everyone else is busy trying to get into touch with their "roots," ie a culture . Why would a black person go into the woods if they're too busy trying to figure out what it means to be a black man? That or it's just that white folk are, on average, more capable of handling chaos from a self reliance standpoint. Maybe it has to do with survival traditions needing to be passed down from one generation to the next and that paternal link is missing?
Who the fuck knows.
I thought saying colored was extremely offensive? Is it ok now?
>>1029107
Back to /pol/
>>1029096
It's because white people tend to have more money, while also being in a situation where they're working some boring office job, so the idea of living outdoors is seen as more interesting.
How do I find people interested in /out/ as an 18 year old still in high school? Even after high school, where do I find these people, other than on this board?
>>1024571
Talk to people whether in college or work. Be friendly. Make friends.
>>1024571
leave your basement. talk to people....
Invite some friends on day hikes and see if they get interested, and just keep working up to longer more /out/ activities
High school senior, and it worked for me at least
do you have a beard /out/?
what style ?
full beard here, mustaches growing a bit long, need wax
do you feel it helps?
i do, its actually pretty helpful with the wind, and warmth and interestingly, cooling.
>tf of your beard when out in the wind on a ferry or on the top of hill/mountain
godtier
draw your beard
Fight me
>>1023165
Ah the "methdealer".
Not really my style but you carry it well.
