call a wildlife rehabilitation facility you faggot
give them the bird and be happy knowing it isn't going to die because of your incompetence
Why aren't you living the dream /out/there with your 10/10 qt?

My wife is a 4/10 and she's always working and hates being out in the woods. But she's a doctor so I'm not mad about taking our 2 dogs and 4 year old out by myself.
Fuck off, hit whore

Fair enough.

Was able to reel in n get my hook n lead back tho. Rod was a medium heavy rod from wally world for 20ish$
>>1025480
My current rod is one that i caught from thw bottom of a lake. It was in suprisingly good cobdition.
I just discovered a tick on the underside of my scrotum. If I get lyme disease I'm calling for a genocide.
General parasites and diseases you get while /out/ thread.
>>1025467
>the underside of my scrotum
Nice. That had to be fun to pull off.
Highest up my pants I've found one on is my thigh.
ive had two ticks on my balls
fuck ticks
i found a bird today and picked it up and now i think i have bird mites
What's your guys thoughts on YouTube? Do any of you post videos on YouTube? Hunting, outdoors, fishing?
Eh, some are alright some are trash. I feel the ones who started early and before the rest are the only ones worth it or that even get noticed. Same with any genre on YouTube. Unless you get one viral situation
>>1025088
Some are pretty good. Most are garbage "reviews" by people trying to push their amazon referral link.
I just do silent first person perspective dont care about ads or making money from views, just fun to record.
Does anyone else hike or /out/ in these? People think I'm crazy for hiking in sandals but it works for me. They're comfortable and dry quickly.
Also, they last much longer than conventional shoes.
>>1024082
Only for certain day hikes. I'd rather not drag my feet through brush full of ticks unprotected if I can help it. If it's going to be wide cleared paths then sandals are comfy.
NE please fix your tick problem.
>>1024082
Tevas are my backup to boots
One trip, my boot delaminated and I was glad to have them
Sandals are fine on the trail as long as it's not too rocky
Off trail, over talus, nofuckingway
What knife brand is this /out/ its a pretty shit blade quality but the body of the knife and the pocket clip is pretty good. Thinking about buying a folding knife blade blank and replacing it with like a known quality steel. Its even got nylon spacers in it..
>>1023401
Gas station
No-name Chinese bullshit, probably sold under a hundred different names. Those "nylon spacers" are cheap knife crap too, I'm afraid.
Don't bother trying to modify it, just buy a Kershaw.
>>1023401
Samurai tactical.
/thread
Can i burn wood in these? I haven't been able to get to my campsite recently but i still want to practice fire making. Not to cook just to act as a fire pit really.
>>1023380
dumb idea, it won't have air flow and thermaldynamics rometely similar to a campfire situation so it's a poor simulator to begin with, plus it's not designed to hold a roaring fire. if you're just trying to practice getting tinder to take a flame you can just do that on a brick.
>>1023385
I got no problem with tinder, but i need practice making long lasting, low maintenance fires. I could build another fire pit i guess
>>1023385
wouldn't opening the ash slots on the bottom and leaving the top off give it more than enough airflow?
Pic related, Giardia the worst I've ever gotten while going out. It was just from drinking creek water. Fever and vomit for a day then my burps smelled like sulfur for a month.
Has anyone here had anything cool?
>>1023361
went to Africa
got aids
>>1023361
>be 8 years old
>spend all day every day growing up dicking around innawoods
>constantly turning over rocks and logs to look for cool animals, plants, fungi, etc
>contract pinworm
>oh shit, my butt itches
>it's okay though since now I get a chocolate doughnut that my mom put the pinworm medicine pill in
>eat doughnut
>go back outside
zero fucks given
>>1023361
>illness
I've had medically diagnosed Lyme disease twice, and I have all of the symptoms of chronic Lyme.
Got trichinosis from a bear fry. Nobody even fucking told me it was bear. Assholes.
Couldn't tell you the number of times I've had some intestinal bug or similar from drinking contaminated water (always either with treatment or from a commercial source that was supposed to be trustworthy). Just goes to show that anything other than boiling isn't foolproof.

Following my dad down a trail and a hawthorn branch had snagged on his pack. Naturally it ripped out and whipped me in the face, driving a ~4" hawthorn spine clear through my nose sideways. Still have the scar 22 years later, looks like a chicken pox scar. Missed my eye by less than an inch.
I'm thinking of going medieval and replacing my sleep system with a regular wool blanket and a bed sack. The wool blanket would be heavy and it would take a long time to find enough grass to fill the bed sack, and I'm still not entirely sure what I should use to make that sack. I would also need to bring a tarp but other than that it seems like it could be pretty fun to try out. What do you think?
Why the fuck would anyone ever do this?
>>1023099
I do this, mainly for the advantages in durability, especially when you sleep outside day in and day out for years at a time
>>1023093
reenactors and history buffs tend to use wool blanket systems, but they will also tell you to not be stupid and try to use them in freezing conditions. learn the tenets of heat conservation
Anyoneone know what king of frog this is
I found it in greater Manchester, it's reletively smol and I've been wondering
>>1023028
i agree, definitely king of frog
thats a toad m8
>>1023028
Common American Toad
ALICE or MOLLE, /out/?
neither, because i want my gear to be designed for the function i need it for, and not to live out some operator /k/ommando faggot fantasy
>>1022972
What backpack do you use Anon? Why?
>>1023011
gregory baltoro 75
it's relatively heavy for a backpacking pack (5 lb 5 oz, iirc), but it fits me perfectly, has fantastic pockets, and its suspension kicks ass with heavy loads, which is important for me because i like to carry heavy ass climbing shit into the backcountry of the sierra. i tried it and an osprey xenith on back-to-back, and it wasn't even a contest for me.
What does /out/ read?
I just finished Walden by Thoreau. Next on my list is pic related.
just finished 'touching my father's soul' by tenzing norgay which was pretty amazing, starting on 'a man and his mountains' by norman croucher which seems to be more based on actual climbing and a story than the previous. recommend them both though
I also read Linkola's "Can life prevail"
he is quite extreme , but was a very interesting read
>>1022922
Thanks for the recommendation, will check it out.
I planned a route but it entails crossing a river with a backpack and a bicycle. It's too deep to just walk to other shore, I have no idea about the current, but it should be fairly slow. The river is probably 5 meters wide. Backpack is ~20kg. There's a bridge but it's a fair distance downstream and I want to have my little river-crossing adventure.
Self inflating raft, grappling hook.
So yeah, the question is: how do I cross the river?
>>1022828
Don't have a raft. Was thinking about tying a rope over the river, putting the bicycle and backpack on it and guiding them to the other side while swimming myself.
I am curious at to what everyone's worst experience at a theme park is/was? Mine would of been the last week of April. My husband and I went to World's of Fun in Kansas City, Missouri for part of our honeymoon, and it ended up raining the entire week we were there. The day we went to the park, it was raining and cold. We rode two roller coasters and then left, after only an hour. The park itself opened at 10 and closed at 1 due to weather. Got no refund of any kind.
I went to a park a few years ago and ended up getting stuck on a coaster for about 30 minutes on the lift hill. Had to end up climbing down the stairs.
How is this /out/ related?
