MCM London in 2005/2006 was very different to how it is now.
I can't really remember a lot, since I was young then, but I'm pretty sure it was just less guests, less memorabilia and probably less variation in cosplay. However, it was a lot less busy so take it how you will. It was probably just a lot similar to a smaller con that's open nowadays. Oh, and flashmob galore.

This is like 2010, so not too old, but even then the cosplay guests were just "misc." and there were only 2. Now they have like 10. This con stopped having music guests soon after too. Especially someone like Less Than Jake.

Photography is an important thing, but its value is depressed. Cosplayers don't know the difference between a good photo and a bad one.

Plus, anyone can get a camera and call themselves a photographer.

Last, there's no real money in it. Because of that, it's extremely unlikely that any "rockstar photographers" will emerge and take the collective game to the next level.

Cosplayers are gonna have to stick to having creeps and really bad hobbyists for photographers, especially if they continue to trash everyone they work with.

Went to a cosplay shootout at a park near me last month. they invited cosplayers and photographers. I'm just starting with a kit lens and a prime but I got some really good tips from photographers there.
Pic related was me experimenting with a remote flash a guy let me borrow
still learning though.
Story time
I cosplay every now and then with my wife cosplay more costumes. we did have one experience when doing a group cosplay one of our friends had emailed a photographer and set up a session at a con. we wanted some full body shots because hey we put work into things but the photographer kept zooming in to faces so we asked for full body which they did and then they went back to doing more portrait style stuff. still have not received images

You don't. You kill yourself at your peak and have an open casket funeral decked out in your finest so people remember you as flawless and kawaii.

Try to transition to something more elegant. Elegant is good with any age and you can be cute without running around in pastel puke outfits.

Or you could just not give a shit about opinions and wear your jfash with pride.

Would anyone make an number age for when to go sweet to classic? I feel 25 is appropriate but I don't know what others think.

Cosplay makerspaces. I heard of one in DC once but never heard of it again. Somewhere to sew, heat plastic, and paint my heart out would be great.

I like this idea because I'm part of a makerspace, but if I didn't teach sewing there I wouldn't be able to afford the membership of $100 a month. They have pretty much every kind of machine for metal and wood including a waterjet that cuts metal with water and ground garnet. I think membership could be less expensive for a place that sticks to wood, plastics and textiles.

This is SUCH a perfect coord, I wish she had less-blurry photos, but that's what happens with flips.

I'm a daily lonelita. I usually dress in non casual. Sometimes I'll get lazy and not care about some colors matching but for the most part I take great care in picking stuff out.

I've been having this problem with sewing these two different fabrics together. I need to top stitch this darker triangle onto a lighter fabric, but this bunching keeps happening. I haven't the slightest idea why this is happening. I suffer.

My sewing machine is pretty limited, so I'm stick with using a buttonhole stitch because the preset zigzag is too long.

you're probably stretching the fabric, as it's bias cut (diagonal). Ease the presser foot a little and don't hold the fabric too tight with your hands, just guide it under the foot. Also check the thread tension just in case. HTH

I remember the days in Middle School where I just had nobody to talk to for what seemed like ages on end, the people I did befriend were such superficial relationships it probably adversely affects befriending people now. Shit just sucks and I don't see a way out by this point.
