Let's say I bought a 250p pvm that can't it display 480i would it display 480i properly also can I force a ps2 to display 240p? Another thing can I force the wii emulators to display 240p also.

240p is 480i dude AKA 15khz. If your tv can do 240p it also does 480i.

These games could be improved so much.

True, but aren't they just downgrades of NES games in the first place?

Probably they'd have been a lot better if they appeared on GBC.
>>
>>3373773
They typically recycle elements from the NES games, then add an original boss on top of that. The last GB Megaman had an all-original set of bosses.
>>
>>3373773
Not really. They're sort of their own thing.
>4 bosses from one NES game, 4 bosses from next NES game
>original music
>original stages
>V is a new game
They never got a re-release, which is kind of unfortunate.

darklands thread

playing for the first time rn. tried the mines with weapon skills ~40 and got my ass kicked by too many kobolds. Now my heavy hitters have ~70 and I'm considering trying again. Still haven't found the formulae for any essence of grace.

I love that game. Do you have a knight in your party? I always like to make at least the party leader a knight.

And when I say knight I don't just mean a fighter with a good Ride skill. I mean the knight class, but it's one of those things where you have to already know how to unlock it in chargen.
>>
>>3373675
So how do you?

This game looks fun. I might try it.

So, in the 90's my parents bought an PC which included demo-CD, which had a car combat-like game, where you drove around in a futuristic arena-like environment. A futuristic car game that isn't about racing, but built around death matches. The story was the same as running man (the Arny somewhat-classic): You were a prisioner in death row and instead of rotting in jail they put you in a futuristic car in an area to duke it out with some other racers.

All I remember from it was that it was somewhat early-ish 3D. Advanced enough to have something in the pixels, but "early" enough to have a burning man sprite go out of the car sometimes when you destroyed one, and if you shot and killed said burning man, you would earn a "mercy kill."

It was almost like a blocky prototype version of the Extreme G bikes... but for PC, not the N64 of course.

If anything, I remember it had 3D-ish lasers and that after you reached your killing quota, you had to drive to the center of the map to leave via a bright andshiny tube. If you didn't, this arena-wide laser would pop up and destroy absolutely everything in the arena, including you.

Also, it bragged that it had a Playstation port "coming soon". Not sure if that ever materialized.

So far I can tell you it isn't Hover, Death Track, Twisted Metal, Carmageddon, Destruction Derby, Mega Race (or its sequel), nor Necrodrome

In your opinion, what are the best DOS games to run on a touch device (e.g. tablet/phone)?
4 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
I just recently set up Albion on my phone, but the point and click navigation made it a fucking headache to play and interact with things
>>
Lands of Lore, but it's better to run it on ScummVM, the game already having keys on screen for movement make everything sooo easier it almost looks like the game was made for touch devices.
>>
Sadly absolute positioning e.g. touch doesn't adapt very well to relative positioning e.g. mouse clicks. Have fun plowing through that one.

The AI in arcade versions of SF2 absolutely rapes me. How do I get good at it?
I imagine the strategies would be different from playing real people? Really it's quite discouraging to practice all the complex mechanics in a modern fighter, then going back and not being able to deal with Sagat dominating you with uppercuts.

>>
>>3372752
>dominating you with uppercuts
This has to be the most pathetic excuse for losing ever

> practice all the complex mechanics in a modern fighter
Like what? If you lose to Dragon Punch, you have to go all the way back and learn the basics.
>>
>>3372823
Sagat is easily the hardest matchup in the game, and given that the game cuts 6 frames out of his uppercut animation CPU matchups are insane.

And something like a FADC cancel into an ultra would qualify as a more complex mechanic of a modern fighter.
>>
>>3372976
It's not so hard once you practice it, and it's more about input, not gameplay. Reacting in time and throwing it is the hard part.

Not sure about the frame data part. Source on this?

I hate how the camera moves in this game. It makes me kinda nauseous. It's too bad cause this is a neat little oddity otherwise.

Hi there!
i had this game a long time ago and i just love it to play it again! but ihad a lot of issue that i cant fix! neither internet apparently, so i try my last hope here

I have 2 PC, one with Win 10 64bit. 4gb ram. intel duo 3.16 Ghz. And a Radeon R9 200 series

the other had win xp. and an old setup to make old game run (dont remember right now but i can chech it later if needed.

i first try Lol3 on Win 10. i have original Cd but it dosent like it(says some file is missing..)...so i downloaded the iso and it was a succes!...but i CANT see the cutscenes! i can hear them, and if skipped i can play, but during them, is like no video input are given

On the XP, the cd and installations are ok, but at the start of any cutscenes..the game a crash report pops up.

i search for a patch and i've installed it...but nothings had change.

I cant effort to buy more hardvare (even older)
So, old gamers, what i have to do? (except for killing my self ofc)

you're probably not gonna like hearing this but it works perfectly through Wine so get rid of that piece of shit called Windows 10, install Ubuntu 16.04 and then Wine and play the fuck out of it

I can tell by the hud you're using the 1.3D GRP file. You need the Atomic Edition (1.5) to play most map because they added textures that most of these maps look for. There should be written in the .txt if they're compatible with the original release or not.

Please join us here if you will:

>>3372256
Most maps don't bother mentioning that they require Atomic Edition anymore because it's been THE version of the game forever now.

In Might and Magic 4-5 I get random freezes when traveling to new areas or signing it at taverns. Anyone else ever experience this? The GOG forums seem to say it's a problem with my sound settings but I'd like to know if the problem happens to other people with music set to MT-32 and speech to Soundblaster Pro.

Do you play it from CD or did you copy it onto the hard drive? I always played it from the hard drive and never had any freezes.

I've never played the Phantasy Star games. With which one should I start? Phantasy Star 4 seems to be the best and most accessible, but I fear that I miss out on important story elements. And is PS3 connected in any way to the others?

You should try out the fan-patched version of 1 for the Master System.

It's one of the best 8-bit RPGs and has incredible FM audio music. It starts slow, as you essentially need to grind until you get a healing spell, but aside from that it's a well balanced and paced adventure across three planets with first person dungeons. If you like or tolerate any of the first three Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy games, you won't have any problems picking it up. And if you ARE adverse to 8 bit RPGs, you should at least check out its PS2 remake.

II is kind of a step backwards in a lot of ways, with barely any story and way more grinding. It's serviceable, but frustrating. When you beat it/if you give up on it, there's a series of visual novels that actually tell the backstory of the game and flesh it out.

III is essentially a Gaiden and was directed by different people. It's a bit of a mess, but you should try it.

Don't play IV unless you've played through I at the very least. It's a finale to the series and has a lot of throwbacks to I and a good couple of them for II.
>>
Start with 1. If you want it in Japanese play the Phantasy Star Collection on the Playstation 2 which has extra options such as Hiragana in addition to Katakana for the text.
In English there's a patch that adds FM sound which wasn't available for the overseas SMS and offers an allegedly better translation.
>>

Okay, thanks for the advice.
Why should I play the fan-patched version of ps1? I was about to start it up on the Genesis Collection for PlayStation 3

Terribly simplistic, even moreso than most VCS games, and not very arousing.
Most good pornographic games are on the PC88 and PC98 and in Japanese.
>>
>>3372015
This. If you want a decent non-VN retro porn game learn to emulate PC-98 or I guess play Rance. I dunno if Americans have ever made a good porn game. They all feel like even the devs jerked off after 35-45 minutes of their work day and half-assed the rest.
