This emulator, as far as I know, has been a dustbin relic for years now. It's probably been close to a decade since I even thought about it last. Most people use MAME or FB Alpha for Neo Geo emulation.

Does anyone know if NRX is still a thing? Is someone still developing this software?

I haven't heard this name in more than a decade, I'm sure getting old. Callus, Genecyst, KGEN98, no$gmb, Corn, MEKA, shit is ancient.

Neo Geo emulation is still trash, buy the legit hardware.

I was hoping someone on /vr/ could help me remember a Famicom/NES game I played once as a kid. This was from one of those bootleg multicarts sold in foreign malls that often came with like 80-100 games, some of them actual games, but I'm not sure if the one I think of even exists widely. Mines was a cheap plastic red N64 controller that had an insertable cart in the back and plugged into the TV.

It was a little platformer with like maybe some canyon or desert levels you scaled up on. Your character was a small dude that was a ninja(?) and it reminded me of a Ninji from SMB2 but not quite. Shruikens or bombs may have been involded, and a power-up or something turned your character into a flashing rainbow color like a Starman from Mario, but it was more seizure-inducing. The music may have had an Arabian flavor to it.

At first I wracked my brain and came up with something with "Bomb" in the title. I looked up Mighty Bomb Jack but that wasn't it at all.

If what I'm describing to you sounds even remotely familiar to you then that'd be fantastic.

Sadly this thing didn't include something substantial like SMB or Mega Man, but it had a few goodies in there (Popeye, Circus Charlie and Ice Climber to name a few).

Super Joy Play III! I remember having bootleg game system too.

Ninja-Kun: Majou no Bouken sounds like the game you're remembering.
>>
>>3385775
Hahaha holy shit yes thank you!!! That's the game right there.

I hated it so much as a kid but it left an impression on me. I can't believe I misremember the rainbow collectibles for the ninja avatar turning rainbow. The whole thing was surreal for the sake of it, like Tumblepop.

>it adds an extra channel to the music to make it sound better

did this actually exist?
pic related, it's the FDS, which i know adds an extra channel. the one i'm thinking of had the music feature as its sole acclaim.
or am i just making shit up in my head

FDS is Famicom *Disk* System and it was created to make Famicom accept floppies. Floppies were cheaper for the same size of storage for some time, so games would be cheaper.
Also, you could copy that floppy.

32x had Q sound and Stereo PWM (Pulse Wave Modulation) mixing with Mega Drive sound; additional 2 channels (12 channels in total)
11-bit PWM, stereo PCM output

copied from sega retro. I read it was hard to code? and nobody really used it because they were rushed to get games to market.

For the past fifteen-something years I've been trying to figure out the name of an obscure edutainment game. I played it in a computer lab as a kid, and though none of my classmates remember it anymore, I've searched high and low on the internet and only found a couple people who remembered it (but also didn't know which game it was).

IIRC the main game was some boring math questions or something. But after you had gotten so many questions right or something, you got to play a minigame, which was where the actual meat of the game was.

In the minigame you played as a little man navigating a Pac-Man -esque maze scattered with coins. All the while a ghost- specifically, the ghost of Blackbeard, the pirate- chased you though the maze. Though there was only one ghost, it could go through the walls of the maze.

At a certain point while collecting coins, alternate colored coins would appear for a limited time for bonus points.

The game would end either if you were caught/killed/??? by Blackbeard's ghost, or if you collected all the main coins and escaped the maze.
Upon beating the maze, a skull would flash on the screen, and a little bit of text would say "Blackbeard's ghost returned to his grave" or something like that, and put you back to answering math problems or some shit.

I recall the game being fairly old even for the time, it might have been an old DOS program, but then again I don't exactly remember what the OS was or what computer it ran on.

I hope that at least one of you know what this game is, so that I can once again send that dirty bastard Blackbeard to his grave again.

Are we seriously being elitist about modern ports of old games now?

It's not even a remake, it's a fucking port. Get the stick out of your ass.
Unless you have a hardon for sketchy fan patches and shitty virtual machines, then the remastered edition is currently the best way to play the game on modern operating systems.

I've had this for a couple of years now, and this summer i've been craving pokemon and SMT, More specifically Revelations and Crystal, both of which don't seem to work on it, has anyone been able to get these to work? There were some fixes by mottzilla, but the revelations one never worked.

Pokemon Crystal needs an RTC, which the 64m does not support.

I think there's a no-RTC patch though.
>>
>>3386087
Thanks but that's not what i mean, the game won't even load, same with revelations the demon slayer. Gold and Silver load just fine with the no RTC patch but crystal won't even load.

Original (non-Dual Shock) Director's Cut is the best. What's RE Dual Shock Edition?
>>
>>3385334
Director's Cut, vanilla drops auto-aim from the Jap version which makes some parts way more hard in a not fun way. DC Dual Shock's redone OST isn't quite as bad as some people say (there are actually a few tracks I like) but it's still inferior to the original and the addition of Dual Shock controls don't really add anything to the game. It's also the version on PSN in the U.S. so it's the easiest to get your hands on.

DS is the best version overall

You have one too many versions.

Also, am I the only one who thinks the sketchy, drab title screen that they used in early builds looks great?

Not OP but that's not true, games like the Adventures of Little Ralph or Ufouria just to name a few are rare and I never hear people talk about them.

Anyway as far as hidden gems go, Willow on NES is a stellar title no one seems to discuss. It's a sweet action RPG by Capcom based on the '88 film by George Lucas and it really rivals games like TLOZ. It's surprisingly fair and balanced for an RPG made in the days of grinding. The game looks gorgeous and has a pretty nice soundtrack. Great combination of RPG elements and adventuring. If you wanna get by without using walkthroughs, I'd recommend drawing a map.
>>
>>3385301
>but that's not true

No it is true. If no one knew about or wanted it then it'd be sold for cheap.

What makes you using cheat codes, Nintendo Power, strategy guides, Game Genie/Game Shark, and tip hotlines, etc. to beat a game as a kid more legitimate and noble than some kid nowadays using GameFAQs or save states to beat the same game? Using outside help to win and sharing that help was a core part of old school gaming culture, but why is it shameful now? I'm pretty sure you didn't beat the shit out of all the kids at the playground who shared tips with each other, right?

Blow some smoke from your vape in his face.

Get a combo in Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, for example.

So the wireless SNES Retro Receiver is finally out. Any reviews?

For those of you who don't know it's a plug in adapter for the SNES and SFC that allows you to use PS4, Wii U Pro, Wii and almost any blue tooth controller on your SNES
